Overall this was a good video, and as a Braves fan of 50 years I did enjoy it. However, I do think you should have explained the game 6 play at first in more detail with Fried. That was another although small obstacle that the Braves mainly Fried overcame. The Astros runner never touched first, and although Fried stepped on first after getting up, the runner was still called safe, however the Braves should have appealed the call. Fried got 4 outs in that inning and it could have came back to bite them in the rear if Houston had got a hit or two afterwards, and if the Braves pitching wasn't so good that game, as well as the hitting.

Man what a magical postseason run. I am beyond words. The fans returned to make the postseason feel like the postseason again. Freddie's Homer to send us to the NLCS, Super Rosario, The Night Shift, The Back-to-back homers in game 4 of the World Series, Soler's Pujols-esque bomb in G6. We were the underdog in every series. I never thought I'd experience a championship - but after everything we've been through, it feels better than I'd imagined. But this is not just an amazing Braves story, it's an amazing baseball story that will be told for years to come. Thank you Atlanta -a Braves fan for life.

I grew up in Georgia my whole life. I got dumped by my abusive ex fiance because she couldn't marry somebody like me, so I bought 2021 season tickets to the Braves. I went to every Braves home postseason game and I don't regret it. I watched some of the best baseball of my life. I told my brother and neighbor after the deadline that we will win the East after sweeping the Phillies at home, that the Braves can beat the Brewers and Dodgers. I had a feeling this was our year by watching them play. They just felt so locked in and the players stepped up when needed. Where ever you are in life and you feel like you are out, just remember that everyone counted the 2021 Braves out but they won it on so don't sleep on yourself. Grind it out and achieve victory.

In my opinion that performance alone made Tyler Matzek a Atlanta Braves Legend as a pitcher, and if you look at the Braves pitching in the 90s that alone will show it’s hard to become a Braves legend as a pitcher. Also Kyle Wright in my opinion also made himself a Legend because of his WC Game 4 outing, coming in and bailing out Lee and saving our bullpen for the rest of that Game and Game 5.

Yep total legend now, Matzeks 7th inning, the Rosario home run, the Soler home run, Justice homering and Francisco Cabrera's hit/Sid's Slide are the most memorable moments in Braves history for me since 1990. If I was going to buy a Braves Jersey right now it would be Tyler Matzek with Rosario second. Just a great story of redemption and perseverance. Also he saved Luke Jackson from infamy. If that 7th inning would have got out of hand, and the Dodgers went on to win that game and win game 7, I think Luke Jackson is done in Atlanta. You could tell he wasn't right after that Bellinger home run and Matzek bailed him/us out.

I did too, I was with them the whole way except for a few week period during the summer when I purchased my first house and was moving by myself and had no TV. That happened to be when Acuna got hurt and around the All-Star break. All of the sudden when I have TV again and I turn on the Braves and they are finally good after watching them struggle all season. Not to mention they had Adam Duvall again which was the craziest thing. And they got him for Alex Jackson, LOL at the Marlins general manager. I told friends and family when the Braves got in the playoffs to watch them this year...that this is probably not going to be the same crap sandwich as usual. After the first couple of Milwaukee games, I was worried it was going to be the same old Braves that can't hit in the postseason...but Joc woke them up and they never really looked back. It helps they had an interesting team with a lot of interesting personalities. People I know that didn't watch them all year and didn't really like baseball liked watching the Braves because they have some interesting characters as my Grandpa would have said. Hopefully most of them can come back especially Freddie.

  • @raysmith8778
    @raysmith87782 жыл бұрын

I remember the decade of the 90's which was my teenage years. The oh so close series in 91 the braves lost to the twins, the 92 season they lost to the Jay's and then the pinnacle 95 season that finally got braves fans a championship. The following year I was almost certain the braves had back to back series championships but dad-gum Jim leyritz's heroics changed the series. Then the rest of the 90's having to deal with almost winning a title. I loved spending nights watching the braves when I lived with my grandmother. So many games watched through the 90's and 2000's until her passing in '07. I wondered if the braves would ever win another championship in my lifetime because we had been so close soooo many times. Fast forward about 15 yrs and I have 3 kids and 20+ yrs of marriage and still loved the braves. Many yrs watching games with my grandmother and others from neighborhood while we would play cards and listen to game on TV. My grandmother, oh how she would say "well how are the braves gonna lose it tonight?" God love her, she loved the braves but were always hesitant about if they could win it all. LOL What I would do for a chance to play cards and watch a game with granny now days. Now to the 10's decade. I kinda fell off from watching every game, letting work get in the way lol. Then came all the bs with blm and accusing every1 of being racist and seeing my beloved braves team put the names of criminals ON THEIR JERSEYS AND TRYING TO CONVINCE ME THAT THE PLAYERS ARE OPPRESSED! THIS RUINED MY LOVE OF THE GAME OF BASEBALL AND SPORTS IN GENERAL. THE WORLD WENT STUPID!!! So the past 3 yrs since Colin started the kneeling during national anthem GARBAGE!!! Needless to say I didn't watch any professional sports for the last 2 yrs besides what others have on TV when I'm around. I couldn't care less for those athletes that sit in their multi million dollar homes talking about their oppression. Total garbage!!! I watched this video and while I enjoy seeing the braves win it all I can say without a doubt that the 16 yr old that celebrated a championship was a better time than the 43 yr old that didn't even watch a full game of baseball the past 3 years. They killed a part of me that loved baseball. Baseball was more than a game to me. It was family time. It was epic. It is sad that things are like they are today. Who knows??

Great video. Glad you emphasized the Morton getting 3 outs with the broken fibula. Biggest moments for me as a Braves fan were Freeman going deep, against Josh Hader - the game's best closer. A lefty taking Hader deep is a very rare ocurrence and it came at the perfect time. My favorite moment was Matzek bailing out Luke Jackson in the Dodgers series, which you definitely made a point to mention. The Soler bomb was insane as well, but you did that proper justice. What a fun watch, thanks for posting.

Let's don't forget - April - MLB's Commissioner moved the All-Star Game from Atlanta and moved it to Colorado because of stupid politics. November - "KARMA" as the piece of crap commissioner has the obligation to hand the World Series Championship trophy to the ATLANTA BRAVES!

Atlanta sports curse was an understatement. Atlanta United won it all at MLS during the 2018 season.

True, but very few people in the USA consider soccer to be a real sport. I am a Georgia born native and Braves fan for 50 years. The Atlanta Chiefs won it all in soccer as well, but no one thought of Atlanta having a title until the Braves won in 95. The Falcons have been a disappointment since 66 with the exception of 98 when they overachieved by beating a very good Viking team lead by the late Dan Reeves, and went to SB 33. The Hawks have been a winner for many of the years in Atlanta, but so far haven't been able to get over the hump. The Flames went to Canada and of course won the Stanley Cup shortly after arriving there. UGA beats everyone except Alabama, hopefully that will change on Monday. The Falcons blowing a 25 point lead in SB 51 is really the ugly one, although the Braves 91 and 96 WS loses do not help the so called curse. The 2-0 lead to the Yankees and the Lonnie Smith game 7 base running blunder. Nevertheless, you got to love the way this Braves team pulled it off, nothing cheap about it, no one was going to beat these guys this year, they just kept winning regardless of what happened or who got injured.

Unbelievable job but it shouldn’t surprised us that the Braves won it all they were just a rock solid team with little weaknesses at all I’m not certainly surprised they started by winning their division I thought from the start that they were a really good team that should win that division and I certainly feel strong about them going at it again if they can resign some guys

I'm trying to determine whose World Series run was more impressive: the 2019 Nationals or the 2021 Braves. Both of them were heavily favored to miss the postseason in their recent championship years and it certainly seemed that would be the case in the first half of those seasons

I would go with Atlanta. Like you said both of those teams were heavily favored. The reason I say Atlanta because they needed to vindication the ten run lead in 2019 blowing a series lead losing Hank Arron R.I.P. Having to lose some players due to injury and other problems. And nearly ranked last but still won the whole thing.

What adds to the Braves' run this year was the fact that MLB hated Atlanta (and Georgia) because they stuck their noses into politics. The MLB Commissioner robbed Atlanta of the All-Star game from the city (and team). And the fact that having to overcome all of the setbacks and Acuna's ACL injury to come all the way back with the new trade acquisitions made AND to go all the way to WORLD SERIES CHAMPS and seeing that P.O.S. commish having to hand over the World Series Trophy to the Braves was absolute "KARMA". Thank you for such a great video of the most special season I think I've ever witnessed in life (60 years and counting).

I don’t want to take anything away from the Braves, but this title just feels odd to me. That’s not to say they didn’t earn it, they earned it 100%, especially going the entire second half without Acuna. But it feels weird that they won the NL East with 88 wins while Toronto & Seattle missed the playoffs entirely with 91 & 90 wins each. Obviously not ATL’s fault, and nobody was expecting (or should have expected) them to give their playoff spot to the Blue Jays, but still. Happy for Freeman though

I watched almost every game, if you would have been watching the Braves before the All Star Break you would have certainly said it was Against All Odds. They were as mediocre as can be the first half and then they lost Acuna which pretty much removed all hope from most of the fanbase. One thing this video doesn't really talk about is guys they counted on like Freeman, Ozuna, Swanson, Riley, and Ozzie weren't hitting the ball very well at all the first half. Max Fried had not pitched like himself all season, neither had Anderson and now he was hurt. Acuna had been absolutely carrying the offense. The Braves WERE cooked when Acuna went down. A lot of people who will never admit to it now, wanted to get rid of Riley, Swanson, Freeman at the trade deadline. That's how bad it was. Only reason the Braves didn't sell at the deadline was because the Mets didn't really pull away. The Nationals sold, the Phillies were mediocre, Jacob DeGrom got hurt and Alex A decided to try to win the division and he pulled those one sided trades off and that's what changed everything. Without the trades for those 4 outfielders, no way Braves would have even made the playoffs. The Braves needed a bunch of stuff to come together to have a chance to win. Bullpen was bad to average most of the year but they just got hot at the right time. Milwaukee lost their lights out setup man right before the playoffs. The Dodgers lost two key pieces in Muncy and Kershaw right before the playoffs. I'm not sure Braves beat the Dodgers with those two playing... The Braves getting home field against the Dodgers even though the Dodgers won over 100 games. Dave Roberts using his starters in relief roles that screwed up the Dodgers already thin starting pitching rotation. 38 year old Jesse Chavez pitching an opener in Chavez Ravine against the mighty Dodgers and winning a key game 4 vs Urias... the game right after Bellinger ripped their heart out late and everyone thought all the momentum had changed.. Trust me, this Braves team was Against All Odds.

"no chance of making the postseason" um no, Braves were guaranteed after FL and WSH sold out for the deadline, since Philly and NY were not elligible til 2022. I warned NL East fans about this in July, MLB has what's called the Surprise Team rule, and 2021 ruled out any doubts of its existence. Basically the rule that applied to the NL East, was that a division never has a postseason droubt ended two years in a row. 2021 the surprise teams were only elliigible from the NL West (GIants ended up this year's) and AL West who had no one at the very end.

not a fan of the braves but at least the dodgers knocked the giants out of the playoffs, doesnt matter opinions on how they won as the giants had gotten the same treatment during the season causing the dodgers a loss. in the end. im fucking glad the giants go an early exit.
