Evening Pete if you take the cap off the distributor there is a line scribed on the outside of the body to which you must align the centre of the rotor arm when the engine is at TDC on No 1 cylinder firing stroke ,that gives you basic static timing.

Excellent video as always , your wealth of knowledge is second to none and your explantations of jobs in progress is superb. It gives others doing their own cars plenty of excellent tips too. I've often wondered why on the twin choke Webbers the fuel pick up pipe is plumbed to the side nearest the engine which does not make sense at all as it kinks the pipe its nearest the heat and puts stress on the brass tube coupling. On the subject of sludge in the cooling system its also not uncommon on engine blocks to find traces of casting sand from the production process! I remember my friend flushing out an Essex V6 and we found it in the bucket of drain water afterwards 😮

You honestly can’t beat a good old 2 litre Pinto. So versatile for so many applications, and hard as nails!

Great to see another Mk3 Cortina come back to life Pete. Love the patina and aged sleeper paintwork, although the perfectionist in me would love to see a fresh coat of (Roman or Saluki?) Bronze paint , maybe even with some Guyana or central America inspired custom coach lines or something, as if someone from there was doing it up on a budget but making a cool job of it..looks good as is too, just thinking aloud.

part of the trouble with them old systems is if the battery is not charged the starter will take everything out of the battery leaving nothing for the coil to fire

Do you still have the other crypton machines? Maybe you could do a little video showing how they altered over the years

Sorry Pete. Late again. You still have a strobe effect on your vid mate. I remember seeing a video a few weeks ago about a similar problem. Something about having to reset your arperture settings/frame rate/shutter speed on your camera to cure it. This isn't what I was watching but it has some info that may be of use. IF you don't know it already, that is. I'm not trying to teach my Granny how to suck eggs here Pete. 😉kzread.info/dash/bejne/l4ius82yY8u4fKw.htmlsi=tKjBNrlG5RH18sR2

Yeah unusual suppose you would do a small video beforehand if you actually have reason to suspect it won't turn out right.
