They replaced the reliable M4 M9 combo for a heavier version of the M4 with more “CuStOmIziBiliTy” (XM7) and a handgun that literally fires itself when it gets dropped in a way it doesn’t like (M17)

Israeli M855. Used to be a gold standard. Winchester now makes a truly superb green tip. Extraordinary accuracy. Not sure what they changed in the past few years, but Winchester 5.56 is now fierce

Personally, I train with fmj, match grade, green tips/steel core, jhp, and frangible rounds. It helps me with shot placement depending on distances and adjust gas for suppressors.
