MK II Project 300 Unboxing and Review Modern Omega Seamaster 300 Mil Spec

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is Exciting! The MK II Watches Project 300 is not an easy thing to get ahold of. The Project 300 is assembled in Pensilvania (USA) by a small team of watch makers including MKIIs owner Bill Yao. It is an homage / slight re-interpretation of the Omega Seamaster 300 Mil spec. You can have the watch with or without a date. These watches are bing produced in a limited run of 500 and ordering is only available in small groups as the parts become available. How can you not love a vintage inspired military dive watch with modern specifications, water resistance, and easily serviced movement?

Finally a review of this beauty. Received mine pretty much a year ago and needed some time to bond with it. After a wait of close to two years, I just did not have the excitement I anticipated when it finally arrived. I also have the date version. IMHO it's one of the most beautiful re-issues of the Big-T Seamaster that was issued in the 60s. Because I am absolutely no fan of bracelets I ditched it right away and replaced it first with a Phoenix Nato which was originally issued to the British armed forces back in the days. After a few weeks, I replaced the Phoenix with a CWC Nato strap, which is currently issued to the British armed forces. This made it sit perfectly comfortable on my wrist and of course, gave it that badass military look that the original Mil Spec Seamaster had.

That wait time is long but not as long as the initial release. I have seen places where people have stated the waited 7 years (unconfirmed) I also have a Helson on the way with the white dial. I’ll have to do a head to head of the two.

@@rightwristonly8796 Looking forward to that comparison. A CW C65 Dartmouth would be interesting too. Btw. the initial wait time for first orders must have been close to 10 years I heard.

@@7rslender sneak peek - the bracelet is better on the mkii than the Helson .... so is the bezel action. The Helson review should be up this weekend if I can catch a break at work.

Great video! The Project 300 is a special watch indeed, save for the clasp haha. My #311 says hi.

Just found your reviews: very good! Thanks! I notice you’ve reviewed the Helson sea master homage also. It would be great to sea a back-to-back comparison of the mk2 verses the Helson, & if possible the Borealis, all together. I have the latter two (although daughter has pinched my Borealis), & was wondering how the mk2 stacks-up? 😁

Thank you. I plan on doing a comparison of the Helson and MKii but don’t have a Borealis. Once I have some spare time I will definitely get that comparison shot. It is surprising how close they are given the price point difference.

Thanks for the review! It's a really nice watch. Although the bracelet, especially the clasp seems a bit generic and cheap considering the price. Slightly disappointed to be honest. Got the mail vom MKII today...but I think I'll pass. Subscribed btw..

Thank you for subscribing. The clasp Is a miss on this one but the rest of the bracelet is good. Not amazing but good. The watch is really beautiful though. I may seek out a new bracelet. Ordered a rubber strap from Barton to try it out on that for a bit.

I would tend to agree. Head looks nice (including the lugs), the rest does not really look like 2k to me. That said, it seems awfully difficult to find a nice SM 300 Military Homage these days, like: at all.

Are you sure it is a sapphire insert and not ceramic?

Positive This is a clear insert painted on the underside. Ceramic would be opaque with the numerals in relief.

I see you just posted this on ebay....it's super tempting. Beautiful watch but I'm afraid it would be a tad too big for my 6.75" wrist.

  • @rightwristonly8796

It wears so well it’s really a question of wrist shape. If you have more of an oval shape wrist like me it will fit just fine. If you have a very round 6.75” wrist then it may be a tad big but at that point it’s about taste. I have a 7” wrist but I measure around the wrist joint where I wear my watches. Many, probably most, people wear there watch up higher essentially on their forearm. On the wrist bone a flat profile watch like this makes all the difference in comfort. If you wear your watches higher you have more latitude in watch profile because there is not active joint below it.

Long time coming is an understatement. What a terrible company . And.......not really a great watch. Have a look at Christopher award and see how a Omega Homage should look like and how the quality should be.

I have owned Christopher Ward watches and have sold them off. They make great watches but they put a real modern twist on them and don’t make Homages. This is one of my favorite watches and the closest you can get to an Omega Seamaster without spending around 6-10k for a watchco or an original. I would say MKII puts out some great watches and their Benchmade series always sell out. I would say public opinion disagrees with you around the company.

Really confused by this watch. Unoriginal design, sub-par construction, subpar movement, all for $2k?!? What?!?

  • @rightwristonly8796

    @rightwristonly8796

    23 күн бұрын

I would not say the construction is sub par. I would say it is well done. Yes it’s unoriginal - it’s a copy of an Omega design, it is intended for people who like that original design but do not want a vintage watch and do not want to or can’t afford an original. I did sell mine because it fell out of my rotation but I would still recommend it if your someone who likes the design.
