Had just one chance to drive it yet. And I have for sure to do more testing to figure out the right amount of gyro support. Right now I would buy again the one with the gyro. Especially because it costs not more than the ones without via aliexpress. I should soon get the 14209 gyro version (sold the V1 version). It was 149.95$

Finally had time to trough a view packs. In my opinion it makes a real difference. Onroad gyro ~30% and offroad ~40%. With this setup I could finally handle the power or at least much better handle it.

How does the dumbo drive with the mjx 14210, like turning, forwards, and reverse. Does it fix the delay that it has with the standard transitter?

  • @stefan-norge

@@BrendenPham01 I have both versions. In my opinion it is not that much of a difference. When reversing, there is still a delay. But when you are driving and have the rig on throttle I cannot see a delay, in both versions. For me the dumbo has its advantage in the gyro. Put it to 25% and the 14210 is a different rig. Thats why it is worth in my opinion, not due to the delay topic.

I’ve heard many people have very sloppy wheels and that you can’t screw them harder. Does the gyro help with that a lot? Also do you think my traxxas e revo 1/16 vxl esc, receiver and motor would fit in this?

@@t3floz My 14210 with the gyro is the best mjx I have. It is great fun and I don‘t mind the slop of the wheels. However, the first 14210 without gyro was not the same at all. But I am not sure if it was just the gyro. Also my 14209 with gyro handels not that well, the one without gyro was some hoe better. Maybe there is an issue with tolerances which makes one better and the next one less. To the Traxxa electronics, I don‘t really know but I would not change the electronics of the mjx.

@@t3floz It is a kind of delay there. But it occurse only when you let go the throttle completely. As long as you have just a little throttle it goes immediately when you throttle it fully. By the way: if you are not looking for this absolut power of the 14210 (75km/h and wheely all the time), the Omni Terminator from Rlaarlo is a perfect option. Better steering, better suspension, middle diff etc. And not so much more to pay for. Change to the high speed pinion, which should be included, and it will make 60km/h plus. But it has not this raw power of the 14210.

The way MB RC store installed the Dumbo system is very untidy. I removed the outer shell of the receiver and reinstalled the receiver board into the OE waterproof box. I cut out th3 stub or stud in the bottom of the waterproof box to make the Dumbo receiver fit in it.

@@stefan-norge What I saw about other non gyro MJX 14210's is that they are very hard to control. Our X6FG versions also do not have that annoying lag that the OE radios have so the car is much more driveable. My only other upgrade I am considering for now is changing the steering servo for a stronger one and get some chassis protection to protect the chassis. At the time of purchasing mine the non Dumbo version was a bit more expensive than the Dumbo version, so it was a very easy choice for me. LOL!

I think the default servo needs to be upgraded to get the most out of the gyro. The original servo is sluggish to begin with and the gyro just can’t keep up properly.

The servo is not the best. But the 14210 performs really well with the gyro. Better than the 14209. the tires make the difference. The current 14210 tires seems exactly right regarding grip. I really like how the 14210 drives now. The 14209 lacks grip with stock tires onroad when it is cold like it is right now in Switzerland. The 14210 is a blast.

You can reverse the gyro direction. There is a little push button on the side of the receiver. In the receiver manual you should find it in detail how to do it. 25% gyro for on road and 30% for of road seems the sweet spot in my opinion.

@@kaskalo2 If it turns even more to the left if you steer the rig to the left side, then I would suppose it is reversed and has to be changed. You can see it easily: push the back of the car to the left side and the front wheels must steer to the left. Push the back of the car to the right side and the front wheels must steer to the right side. This way the oversteer will be softened and the rig is much more stable. I experienced a big difference with and without gyro.
