Rick is such a versatile bad ass player. I love the guy, I used to sing metal back in the 80s, and I sang a few triumph songs lay it on the line, magic power. Rick also seems to be very humble about his talent, and not an arrogant jerk.

Rik always manages to get such warm bright great tone! He could make a cheap made in China pickup sound great! As far as Gibson guitars go they have gone downhill in regards to their quality control so I never buy them. However I now have an alternative (I can't stand EMG) to put in my next custom build!

The problem is that when you eye on a guitar but cannot find it anywhere close to your music stores, I'm just not happy with the fact that we cannot get our hands on one before buying, and even if we know which guitar we wanted, ordering from the brand is a bet cuz you never know the condition of the specific guitar getting sent to you, the guitar might look and play like a piece of gem in the video but turn out to be gnarly condition. Learned that lesson from Fender custom shop. Totally think fenders and gibs are just too overpriced for what they offer these days, Godin seems like a good choice from the videos out but man is it hard to get my hands on one even when I live in Canada.

I feel your pain. I finally ordered a Godin A6 Ultra from Musicians Friend. First time I have bought a guitar without playing it first. Was overwhelmed by the quality of the guitar when IO recieved it. Set up was spot on, no issues, and played beautifully. Godin makes a quality product. And recieved it in less than a week!

If Rik is done playing the A6, because he got a new one, I will find it a good home. Lol. Some day Randy, someday.

This particular one is a Hum II but he is now using a Hum 0 - Will be doing a new video with the new pup over the summer :-)

Hi Jeff - We've since spoken but for others...Rik uses D'Addario EJ21 strings on his A6. They are all Nickel/Steel strings with NO bronze. An all nickel/steel string is a must to achieve proper balance and tone from this magnetic field pickup. Thanks Jeff!

how is there a pot on the A6 ? and is that custom and what does it do?

I have the same question. I want to add a pot to my A6. I see his did not have the piezo slide so I'm assuming the knob was running the piezo volume. What about the toggle switch? What was it doing?

Yes! We added a front Master Volume Control with a 100K Audio Mini Pot. We've done some experimenting since this original vid and have uploaded an updated and extended vid where Rik explains the new specs and set-up - kzread.info/dash/bejne/hYyMs699htTHp8Y.html (apologies for the low volume...KZread turned it down once it was uploaded).
