We need to start thinking about the AEW titles in regards to top and midcard belts. They are all top belts. If the person holding every championship could legitimately and literally be considered a contender for the world title, then there is no reason to treat them as being undervalued by holding that belt. If someone wants to win the Continental title, they have to beat frickin Okada. If they want to win the international title, they have to take down Will Osprey for crying out loud. Even the TNT title right now means beating a current world champion, several other great wrestlers, and the hand picked guy the EVPs want to hold the belt. The men's singles division is a foot race with 4 lanes to reach a belt. None of the belts are a stepping stone to get to the world title. That's how it was supposed to feel when Cody first won the TNT title.

One of the last entrants is Jamie Hayter for a huge returning hometown pop. It a great format for easing her back into wrestling but also the best way to put her on the card.

AEW and WWE are so stacked right now. Remember in 2015 when Seth got injured and there was literally no one other than the (then-loathed) Roman who looked like he realistically could hold the title? It's crazy how *normal* it now feels to be in the opposite situation, where there are so many people that could pick up either company's top title and wear it amazingly well.

It’s funny seeing Luke tempering his acceptance of AEW booking for Oli. I feel AEW fans, the sickos, only need 3 segments to accept something as a feud. An angle, a promo/video package and the match. Folks may think we’re wrong for being fine with that but it is what it is. I wanna watch MJF fight Hechicero. I don’t need it to be the next Citizen Kane. Everything hinted with Max is clearly happening after FD, this match is just to keep him in your mind and to give a badass CMLL guy a PPV match. A better build wasn’t going to make it more exciting than Mina/Toni or Swerve/Ospreay.

The AEW hate from the WWE side of things is largely just due to the concept that aew is coming to replace wwe when that isn't the case. That's my take on it, WWE being hot right now and AEW being a bit wobbly since Punk decided on chaos isn't helping though.

Exactly. I've been a wrestling fan for 34 years and have been into every major promotion, of which AEW is my absolute favourite. It's my kinda thing. Western wrestling mixed somewhat with aJapanese sports based format. There's been some things I'd change at times but i can talk about if i want to with friends. I certainly don't feel like doin so in comment sections which are generally vile and i can't stand B'z chatting ish in the manner they do.

I thought it was alright. 6/10. Just wish their stories would marinate more. I never feel all the way emotionally invested. Like the matches are cool but there hasn't been anything that I feel I will look back on.

Okada makes such a good comedy heel. Also i think the Acclaimed will lose and eventually join the Elite, losing Daddy Ass in the process.

You can really tell that AEW doesn't have much buzz because every segment does so poor on KZread nowadays. They use to have segments that would get 800k+ within 24hrs. Now they are lucky if one segment gets over 300k.

Went to the show last night, sad I missed the live but things just feel really eh to me. Not interested in the world title picture cause I know Ospreay ain’t winning. Not interested in Bucks story til omega returns Semi interested in the Owen. Cause I love me a tourney The only thing I can honestly say I liked was the Toni and Mina t it or signing and rampage

No matter what they do they have to crap a little on AEW. Not only do they start an annual show in their back yard and have the best in ring product in the business. All these two can do is complain about how inconvenient it is to use mass transit to get to the show. If this had been a WWE show instead these guy would have been audibly fellating triple h.

As someone who's getting Forbidden Door and no other major shows in my kneck of the woods this summer, I would just like to say, Boooo Bully for making this a one match show. I don't want to see MJF in a meaningless match, he should be the star of this show. Nothing against Mox vs Naito, but I wouldn't pay to see who wins because that belt isn't important to me, or Khan apparently, given he has started to ignore the IGWP belt now that Mox may drop it. That leaves the women's title matches. One is a Mone exhibition match with no build, and, I know this is just my opinion, I quickly got sick of Storm because she kept beating the joke into the ground and I gave up on her ever adapting to a new opponent or working a consistent angle. Will I still go to see Ospreay vs Swerve. Maybe, but only because the price has dropped to $30.

Honestly I think getting rid of dark and dark elevation didn't help with the roster usage, people have disappeared completely.

I love how AEW worked us by saying the first match was going to be commercial fee and it was. It just ended when the first ad break is usually scheduled for.

I really have no interest in seeing Will challenge for the title, I want swerve to lose because I don’t care for him but Will is the last guy I want to beat him

Alot of AEW hate comes from AEW fans not accepting criticism and calling everything bad faith. Most of them will only acknowledge that if there was bad stuff it was all because of Punk. Now obviously every metric is still in big decline after he is gone. In fact the last big rating was when they showed the Punk footage which only further proves that he was actually an asset.

@@christianbotter3125 fans and some people think he wasn't an issue or wasn't the issue, I saw a guy in the title, bury the company and go "into business for himself", the entire event was overshadowed by that one incident and it was a shame for everyone on that card as they were over looked. Punk is in his mind and his fans minds always the victim. He likely wasn't the only problem but you can't act how he did and then complain when people you aired issues with don't want to work with you, there have been other incidents and yes Tony should have acted alot sooner.

I disagree with Oli’s take that Will Ospreay not challenging for the world title is the same as Drew not winning in Scotland. The live crowd will not be upset if they get MJF vs Ospreay and Swerve vs Hangman or Danielson. IF We get Ospreay vs Swerve and Will loses at Wembley, then I’d see the comparison. BUT I have a bigger issue with Gibson discrediting your beauty natural hair

It looks like Tony panicked that ratings were low so he rushed MJF back. I say that because he is just floundering without anything interesting to do.
