This dude knows how to tell a story. Especially the story of having the tedious, monotonous life of being a salaryman. Before you know it, 30 years have gone by and all you own is a small condo, and because you spent all that time working everyday relentlessly, you probably never had time to hold a proper relationship, get married to someone you love, have a child or a family. And then, all you can think about is how you wasted your most precious asset, time. Great story, great visuals!

Nice, but I think with the whole hipster look and counting cash scenes along with the ending the message and the lyrics and all the song is more so about appreciating the life and work you already have. It may get boring and monotonous, but it's better than a few of alternatives however more profitable or exhilarating it seems and even if you seem to have a good reason to do so.

I've worked for a Japanese company in japan before it was fun I always dreamt of living in Tokyo but Japanese work relationship is so taxing it's like everyday you are walking on egg shells. I can't say no on anything because you are afraid of letting everyone down. You are afraid of taking vacation breaks because your colleagues doesn't even take sick leave. You are expected to drink after work even if you have work tomorrow. Its a daily grind that consumes your life time without noticing it. Even if you come in the office everyday you really don't develop special bonds with your colleagues because just like you they have nothing to go for but just work. I'm sad when my company didn't renew my contract but it made free from this kind of life style. I'm lucky because I'm a foreigner I can comeback to my country and work in another work environment but If you are Japanese it hard to op out of this kind of lifestyle because they are hard wired for it.

Ah this reminds me with a chapter of Doraemon comic. When i was a kid, i didn't really pay attention. But now, i realized, even a kid comic also depicted real life of Japanese. There is a chapter of Nobita's dad went home after getting drunk and somehow met his mother who deceased alrdy but come from the past. Nobita's dad crying in his mother's lap because he is forced to drink after work with his boss even if he is not willing to do it actually.

They aren’t hard wired for it if the high suicide rates and low happiness index have anything to say about it. That’s a societal and individual problem. They’re literally making themselves extinct. Edit: amongst the G7 countries they had the 2nd highest suicide rates in 2019 as well.

The story told is one many in the millennial and Z generations know very well. I can only look little small things for happiness in this tedious world where hard work until I die without prosperity. I appreciate all the pieces of art Miyachi puts out. As a part Japanese American I have been motivated to learn Japanese because the first gen Americans in my family were highly encouraged to acclimate completely they never taught me to speak Japanese: I am going to change. this is a criticism of japanese lifestyle. People go to work everyday to feed their household, they don't feel happy everyday even when going out with friends : the routine is killing and the guy even fake smiling and laughing although he is with his friends. At the end, we see the character trying to commit suicide but he won't because it isn't appropriate and gives bad impression in japanese society, so an external come and shoot him. This external, i presume is his life and all his obligations to which he submits himself to (the routine, his work, his boss). Lesson to learn about that : don't get into routine, do what you think you want to achieve in your life, otherwise you will end up in this sad situation. People get stuck into routine because they can't make the effort or they don't have the ressources to achieve their dreams.

The way I interpreted it was that the shooter was killing that lifestyle that Miyachi is criticising, rather than being a sign of submission to it. The guy who killed him is non-traditional looking (especially in Japan)- visible tattoos, rough beard etc. My view is he is a representation of the alternative lifestyle that Miyachi lives which killed the salaryman life alternative.

Couple that with a history of poetic death and suicide and suddenly dying for your job or taking your own life are seen as very favorable. They had a lot of disasters and it seems to have created a "look you help us dig us out or you are part of the problem" and you simply do not refuse your boss. Ever. The nails that stick out get hammered down. If nobody spent time with the boss it wouldn't be a problem. But then that one weasel is going to make you look bad and get cozy with the boss.

Miyachi killing it with the dirty truth about Japanese society, the oppression and struggles the Japanese face, and that beat. He gets rap and hip hop. This is what it is about. African Americans literally started rap, trap and hip hop to teach others about their hard life and cope with it as a form of art. In an interview with a Chinese rap group, they were asked what rap and trap and hip hop was all about and they did NOT have a single clue. They all were silent. I could only shake my head but Miyachi and his flow from English to Japanese is on point. Dude better be blowing up here in America soon! Keep it up, King!

You can’t blame Chinese people for being ignorant necessarily, they don’t have freedom of access to information like KZread and google, and the government can censor topics that they find unreasonable like any criticism of government. so they may see rap as more of a superficial display.

revaholic revaholic revaholic I apologize as I should have added that fact into my response. You are very right. It is why the Chinese government doesn’t like rap and even banned it for a period of time. This type of music is meant to supercharge people to stand up and speak out. That’s what the Chinese government does NOT want. There are many Chinese rappers though that can hit that beat like Miyachi too though. I know some Chinese rap artists will get close to hinting about the government but they never come straight out and say it. I wonder if the Chinese rap group was silent because they knew the government was watching.

This is the corporate life all around the world. Go to the office even if you don't want to go, working in the morning from 9 to 12h30. Taking a break eating in front of your computer watching stuff on internet. After break, you are already empty, because you are bored and you just wait 5 o'clock to leave. So you are slacking, half working the whole afternoon asking yourself wtf are you doing there. Then you remember that you do it for the pay. For the 2500-3000 quantitative happiness that you must earn for your family and to keep your social rank. You remember that you are lucky, you could be a cashier or be born in Africa. Well, it's what the education spammed your brain with. Going out don't make you happy anymore. Because you know that after this senseless party, the same shit will happen again, and on the next week you'll go out again with friends do the same shit, again and over again. Gosh, i hate my life.
