    My Tegeler Audio stuff is my favorite gear. The VTC and the Crème are simply amazing, and The Raumzeitmaschine is the best reverb I've ever used. The VTRC is an awesome recording channel with passive EQ and two wonderful compressors, The Magnetismus II is a secret weapon on all percussive sources and the Vocal Leveler 500 and the MythEQ 500 are the best stuff in my API 500 series rack. Love them on vocals and bass. I guess I cannot deny that I like the little blue tin boxes from Berlin :-)

    Great video, thank you, Joe and Warren. It showcases everything I love about my RaumZeitMaschine so nicely. It's versatile, has a natural sound, and works well on single signals, but can also handle complex mixes. I enjoy using it as the main room in a mix, especially when all tracks are individually cut. This brings the musicians together in a room and adds an extra layer of cohesion, creating a natural and organic feel and adding another spatial dimension. The 'Berlin' preset folder features well-known spots in the city acoustically, from the U-Bahn (Subway) to the Funkturm (Radio Tower), with a homage to their typical reverb. I hope the Tegeler guys will one day create an acoustic homage to the old Meistersaal of the Hansa Studios as well.

    Reverb sounds really great! Love the idea of the plugin control for its recall ability and being able to stay in the sweet spot while adjusting, that's cool. I'm interested in what happens if you manually turn the physical knob yourself though, does the plugin follow your movement or does it try to "fix" what you did? I know if I was on a different track and the plugin was closed but I wanted to make a quick adjustment I'd just go "ahh stuff it" and move the knob, but would that mess it up?

    @1loveMusic2003 The RaumZeitMaschine features a built-in web server. The plugin acts solely as a controller and does not handle audio processing or routing. It simply connects to the web service provided by the server. You can also control the unit using a standard web browser such as Chrome or Edge, just as effectively as with the plugin, without actually using the plugin. Simply connect to the IP address of the RaumZeitMaschine, and a website resembling the plugin interface will appear, allowing you to get started. This functionality works from any computer on the network, not necessarily only from the one where you're running a DAW. This enables, for example, the use of the RaumZeitMaschine as an effects unit in a Front Of House setup, with remote control and without the need for any DAW involvement.

    Servo motor tech isn't magic - actually kids in STEM schools are making robots using Raspberry Pi or Arduino gear (under $50) and servos which have decades of utility in the remote control car/airplane/toy/hobby world . Would be nice if enough Audio gear would include ethernet control of servo-driven controls that the DAW could control. Small servos and such add-ons would bring prices up maybe $100 or so on gear like this. I'm just saying magic is the result of basic technology wrangled into the box. The demo here showed how slow the servos used in this box are. Servos can go much faster in rotation that what the knobs were doing here. So, what has to be determined is the box showing latency of the knob reaching the target value but the value is already set (I hope so) or is it that the change is happening with the knob turning. Worth looking into whether the unit is reacting to the DAW move rather than the knob move.

  • @johnmcvicker6728

    @johnmcvicker6728

    8 ай бұрын

    Realistically - if the reverb hardware unit did not have servos or knobs at all - and was just DAW-driven (since that is what you're doing), you save a large amount of hardware costs and R&D to put servos on the control knobs. I would think most folks would not mind that kind of solution where they don't have to turn knobs by hand - just make it control values and pipe them into the box via network control. Automating knobs can then become "we automated the knobs right off the box".

  • @MarcBecker_Music

    @MarcBecker_Music

    8 ай бұрын

    When using the plugin, the values are set immediately and independently of the servo movement, just as you assumed. What Joe did not show is that it's a bidirectional connection. You can also use the knobs on the unit to set the values, and it's monitored in the plugin. You can save the settings you adjusted manually as presets for later recall. It is providing a convenient option for users like me who prefer working with knobs and switches over a mouse. The tactile use of knobs on the unit also proves handy for me when writing automation

  • @Producelikeapro

    @@InTheMixJoeCarrell I do think you're a scientist, though. Audio engineering is really complex enough to call it engineering. I know a lot of "software engineers" who don't take the care to do the details and rudiments that audio pros do. Good video too and I did enjoy it. I would like to see more of this stuff (automated servo-adjustments) it's just that it adds so much to the price of a box that can become a cost issue for small studio owners. Kind of a novelty at this point and folks are saying this reverb sounds good. It may not need the front-panel showing the circular image (IMO) but it makes it a talking point for sure. But is it something needed for years to come or just an early novelty. I guess I'm Debbie Downer today. Need more coffee.
