These are stunning and inspirational greys, and so beautifully presented! The only thing missing is a close up so that the labels are legible.
Excellent information! Simply and clearly presented! Thank you!
Such a soothing video to watch for a watercolour artist. Just lovely!
So much fun watching, listening....❤ Thank you.. Watching you swatch felt so soothing and inspiring to explore more on my own as well...
Love the video. Fyi: You can stop the watercolor from beading by gently scratching the surface of the enamel on your palette with toothpaste, abrasive cleaner or very fine sandpaper
I absolutely love your videos, Lily ☺️ This one has been so helpful and informative - I have learned a lot from you. Would love to see more mixing videos! Thank you so much! Eleri x

Thank you so much for this instructive video. I would love a video on mixing greens and sometimes mystery to me! By the way, your explanation at the beginning helped to totally clarify the concept of mixing grays

I found the theory you provided at the beginning of the video is brilliant. I knew that mixing complimentary colours would make muddy browns, but I didn’t know how to get greys. I would love to see a colour mixing video on violets. Loved this video!

I so enjoy your videos. It will take me some time to see them all. Have you noticed that some PG 7 pigments in different brands are cooler than others? In Schmincke, I can get a beautiful perfect black with their Phthalo green with Ruby Red Deep.. Also, Scarlet Red PR254 with Phthalo Blue. PB15.1. And a beautiful smokey purple with Phthalo Green and any PR122, like Schmincke purple magenta or Winser and Newton Quinacridone Magenta, both are pr122. Daniel Smith, Quinacridone Lilac is PR122 .
Just found your KZread. This was amazing and helped me so much ty

Phthalo green and quin coral's grey is so gorgeous 😍 personally I like to mix my greys with prussian blue and vandyke brown 😊😊 If the pad keeps moving you can take parts of a kneaded eraser and stick it to the corners of your pad so it will stick to the table. And thank you for the video it's very fun to how people go on about mixing colors ☺️

Wow 😳😲 I am learning so much more about mixing than I ever have even from classes at school! Not sure if my ADHD made it hard to focus and the time it takes to really understand which colors will mix well now a days I find so much joy in playing with mixes and just seeing what happens than taking what I learn into my next pieces!

this is a good exercise for people to get to know the paint they use 🙂
What a great exercise! I love swatching and mixing colours, but doing it in a more organized way like this is a really good idea and keeps a good record. I see a new book for me to start! Colour mixing book! Thanks great video.

I am so happy you enjoyed the video and that you found it interesting! Thank you for being here! ❤️😊
Very useful, clear and interesting for me. Thanks a lot !
I knew from experience that some of my greens and purples neutralized to make greys but I was confused as to why (for example, Sennelier forest green and sennelier Dioxazene violet makes the deepest black that you can wash out to a lovely grey). But the diagram you drew at the start with the secondaries and your explanation made it so clear!

Loved this! Now I want to try this with other colors!!! Yes, please do more!
1. genuinely fascinated by this technique, mostly because it makes *sense* 2. brown is just dark orange and I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one who knows that.

That’s a nice range of greys Lily. Out of interest, does anyone ever try to paint using a wide range of greys, or are they only used in isolation as part of a limited palette?
Thank you for this! I was struggling with mixing greys, now I have a better insight

PO48 has been discontinued. A mix of Cerulean blue (pb36) and a transparent leaning pr101 (I use W&N Burnt Sienna) make a lovely grey. Be careful with the choice of pr101 as many can be very opaque.

Please could you demonstrate how to mix a browney orange as in a Bee Eater Bird, I'm struggling with that
Nicely done! I always seem to mix greys as needed, and have such a time with it… your video was very helpful. Is there any chance you could do a video on mixing browns… mine always seem to get muddy…so I end up using convenience colors for browns…also, could you do a video on how you make your swatching sheet… it looks like it would so interesting. Wishing you many blessings❤

Never heard of Zecchi paints. Why do you like your untramarine and raw sienna from this company? ( Sorry asking if you have previously answered.)
@lilymoonart
10 ай бұрын
I think I like the Zecchi Ultramarine so much because it has a strong violet undertone, and in my mind that's how I expect a true ultramarine to be ☺️ The raw sienna is a lovely non staining hue, and at the moment I am using it for quick preliminary sketches, which serve both in adding a warmth to the end piece, but is also easy to lift if I make a mistake while sketching out my initial idea.❤️
Information is really so helpful, but your handwriting is so small on the page…I have to rewind a bunch of times to remember what you’ve already covered
