Mixed Up In The Middle East (14th November 2011)
As the daughter of an Arab Muslim father and Jewish mother, Reya El-Salahi travels to the heart of Israel to understand the reality of living with the conflict in the Middle East. She faces the dangers and contradictions of everyday life there for young people as she tries to discover if there is anywhere in Israel she could safely belong.

How would I feel if someone else invaded my land, and stole my ancestral home? How would I feel if my people were bombed, jailed, subjugated, terrorized, kept short of food, water, medical supplies? That, to me, says it all. When I ask these questions, I already know the answers.
I just wanna know why can't they just both live together in one peace country instead of this war and people dying, I'm with both side I'm a Muslim and I think Jewish deserve a country and Palestinians too.

I wish both of the two countries Palestinians and Jewish become good friends and stay in peace.
She is a human unlike jews
24:40- Excuse? You were denied entry into the Temple Mt. by the MUSLIMS, you CHOOSE not to go to the Western Wall, but you weren't denied access to it. See the difference.
Get a grip on yourself, Reya. Every little problem causes you to have a tension fit. Relax. Enjoy what's there and take the obstacles with a grain of salt. Beautiful to be both Jewish and Muslim. Don't let the rules and obstacles imposed by humans deter you from discovering and enjoying the world.
god bless you for that (:
i love how thats the only thing you got out of that
Her father is of Moroccan Muslim origin and there are many Moroccans who have black faces. Not all Moroccans have Mediterranean skin colour.
While I do realize that this feature was about Reya, I would sure love to learn more about here parents -- for starters, how have they managed to maintain a successful marriage for all of these years? They have so many differences between them, but somehow managed not to lose themselves completely in the relationship... Anyways, they have created a beautiful household together. May God continue to bless them all! :)
Keren is sooo cool.
POV: ur in a PSRE lesson!
she is so beautiful!
Hi, I’m not sure if you ever look back and read the newest comments. Here is what I have to add. Firstly, the Palestinians have one problem, and that is their leadership of Hamas! Everyone knows that they are a recognized terrorist group. That is a fact.. however, what has not been mentioned, is the fact that Hamas, when receiving funds for children’s education, building better housing, and improvement of lifestyle, use that same money for something else.. Hamas does not prioritize the people and their needs. This leadership utilizes this money to build tunnels for terror activities, as well they pay the civilians monies to the same, to kill an Israeli. Then they become a martyr! They place dynamite in family homes and schools... with no concern for the children. It is sad and this leadership must change. And why are the other Arab countries not perhaps helping the people to understand! Without Hamas, everything will change. I’m what Country in the world do you see a child as young as 3 playing with guns and encouraged to kill Jews. What can life be like in Palestine. It is not Israel occupying Palestinians it is Hamas! WAKE UP !!!
very true problem. go there and see. when you mix with people you meet people...what can u do.
She's between a rock and a hard place.
Reya is very beautiful.
sorry for the spelling and grammer
she is stunningly beautiful ...
haha true! i was going to elaborate but i didn't have enough room o_o... So as an american international student going to a british school, i've realised that the american dream is simply an umbrella term for, you know, everything the american dream implies- luxury, peace, happiness, etc... so i just used it as an umbrella term since that was all i had room fore :P
This is a long and bloody war in which for both sides all methods go.
Her father is black Moroccan Muslim, whose ancestors were slaves and her mother is white British Jewish, whose ancestors came from eastern Europe !!
i have same background...mom is jew and dad arabic...I chose Islam since 9 years ago.
ugh i really wanna go visit israel but im muslim hopefully in several years this won't be an issue and i can go chill there one summer lol

I want to do that as well… My knee would give me a away tho
Don't forget she has relatives living in Israel from her mother side. So she has the right to go there to make a documentary.
The self-hate here is unreal...her and her siblings should exercise more empathy for the Jewish grandparents and Muslim grandparents to truly understand why these people are passionate about their positions. Her parents are the worst guides towards this understanding considering they've grown accustom to Western thinking and this conflict doesn't affect their every day life and being, so they can't truly understand what it's like being a Jew or Muslim in Israel. Think for yourselves and exercise empathy and it is never wrong to care and love for both sides.
Epic Documentary
I love this study of a western woman in the eastern world very much, and she makes a very good point about what is lacking in these countries... though she seems a little bit spoiled to me, just by having grown up in peace and luxury with western ideals and the American dream... Did she do any research on the two religions and their holy places, though? Some random, unveiled woman trailing a video crew won't be allowed into a local mosque. Of course she doesn't look Muslim to them!
when i went they questioned me for two hours for no reason. that is one thing i hated about going there. i am jewish but do not look like it.. bs
Wow she is beautiful!!
and she is super atheist calling religion bs

Biased. Waste of time. Study your facts lady, stop stating opinions.
