Mixed media collage art tutorial ❤️ Paper craft Valentines

I finally have a good excuse to experiment more with mixed media and collage! I've got an art tutorial on how I make paper Valentines in postcard form, ready to mail out.
The mixed media art I'm doing in this video is using acrylic paint in vibrant pinks and reds, for a valentine-theme. I'm also using rubber stamps, washi tape, and postage stamps to finish the collage, of course!
The first part (mixed media collage art on a large piece of paper) is the most fun, actually. Once I had that cut down into smaller rectangles, then I collaged the valentines with washi tape and other papers.
This is a super fun mixed media + collage art project ❤️. It's an excuse to use bright colors that I normally wouldn't use with collage.

What a kind thing to say, Janie. Thanks so much ❤️
These turned out great. I loved seeing your process. I'm going to give it a try. Thank you!
Margarete:using that calendar for a base is clever. Since it already has lines and numbers on it, it would be less intimidating for a person to had their own stuff to it. A very good teaching idea, especially for a beginner. Your explanations on video are very clear and concise. Excellent! Carol from California

Thanks for your kind comments, Carol. I hope you find one of these big calendars on clearance and can experiment with it, too 💖.
Loved your video, great demonstration of what you can do with imagination and talent. I also enjoyed the different colour way. ❤

Great ideas for a non-traditional Valentine. One tip for when you're stippling (short i, like hippo) with acrylic paint, in addition to using less paint, "pounce" the brush straight up and down against the stencil rather than swiping. You'll get a cleaner image that way because the paint is less likely to seep under the stencil. Thanks for another inspiring video!

Thank you, Karen! I'll remember that for next time. Thanks for watching 💜
I love watching your process and am often reminded to slow down and have patience. I have a bad hurrying habit, even though I'm now retired! 😆

I know what you mean. I used to get so frustrated that I wasn't working faster. ThenI realized time is an ingredient in my collage making recipe. It takes as long as it takes 😉💜

Love your process videos.🥰 I actially really liked the squares with more white space - potentially, space to add focal images without regrets.😄

Such a cool idea - every step had something. I love that you started with the calendar. Where is the transparent washi tape from?

Thanks! I looked for some marking on my washi tape but there was none, so I have no idea where it came from. Sorry 💜
Margarete - This is totally beautiful!!! Colors - the composition- and the endless possibilities and inspiration it creates. ******. I simply love the geometric stamp you use. I have searched high & low for something similar …. and come up empty. Can you possibly say where you bought it?

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I got my stamp used, but 100 Proof Press sells a nice geometric stamp. Just type in "geometric" in the search bar and you'll find it.

Margarete - I did order a geo stamp from 100 Proof Press - received it in about 3 days & it is fabulous! Their customer service rocks! Thanks for the help - I’m all set now!
I enjoyed watching your process however when I look at those postcards they don't say Valentines to me. To each their own though.

Yes, maybe they are Valentines in disguise. For sure they are not traditional "hearts and flowers" valentines. 😉
Where do you get your washi tape from and your rubber stamps? Do you always use Momento ink?
@MargareteMiller
Жыл бұрын
I like those inks because they are small and I can get multiple colors/shades in a pack. Washi tape I get online, from Etsy. Rubber stamps I look for used ones on eBay.

@@MargareteMiller Thank you! I always tend to avoid ordering items from Etsy and eBay because the shipping to Canada often costs more than the item itself. I will look though and send some of those items to my daughter's house in the States if I see some stamps that I like. Do you ever use the inexpensive silicone clear stamps? I have never. tried a clear stamp.
