Mitt Romney: “Typically the Israelis are good at PR. What's happened here?”
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken speculated Israel’s public relations downfall since the start of its war on Gaza could be attributed to social media, saying social media coverage has completely “dominated the narrative”.
In a conversation with US Senator Mitt Romney at the McCain Institute’s 2024 Sedona Forum in Arizona, Blinken said “the impact of images dominates” which “has a very, very, very challenging effect on the narrative.”
Blinken was responding to a question by Romney who asked why Israel’s PR has been “so awful,” noting the global perception of Israel and Hamas is “all the other way round” as Israel continues to lose support from the international community.

Several points: 1. Netanyahu is saying that ceasefire or no ceasefire, Israel will invade Rafah, which would probably result in the killing of more tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians. So how is that a ceasefire? Romney and Blinken didn't mention this. 2. Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza. Normal people tend to get upset about things like that. Our politicians just think it's bad PR. 3. Speaking of which, notice what Romney said at the end? TikTok is showing the reality of the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza, so he wants Biden to do something to shut that off. He didn't say that the slaughter should be stopped; no, he said the images of the slaughter need to be taken care of. And there you have it, folks. Morally bankrupt politicians. And to think I used to respect Romney. This genocide in Gaza has opened a lot of eyes about the reality of Israel and our politicians!

So my takeaway from this snippet is that they're basically saying people only usually get to see their side of the story, but nowdays, with the flow of information in the web, people gets the feed from all sorts of sources, including the POV of the opposing side. And their perceived solution is to curb the flow so only their side get to talk. That's really the nicest way I can put it
