It has been a while since you made the video but it really helped me figure out what the problem was with my toyota starter. I was able to fix it following your your diagnosis and the video. I really appreciate your help. I only spent 15 dollars on a new bendix and a couple of hours. Thanks a lot and greetings from México.

Thanks! I need to replace the Mitsubishi starter on my Mazda Tribute, which has a dead (not-pulling-in) solenoid - not quite the same model as you showed, but similar. I've got a second-hand one on the way, I'll check the brushes before I fit it. Last starter motor I worked on was an old Lucas inertia starter. At least after watching your video I won't be going in blind.

Hey these are great videos, very informative, thanks for doing them. I wonder if you can give me your opinion on my starter in a pajero 2.8. When I turn the key, all I get is clicks, cant get the engine turning over. Suspecting a starter or solenoid problem. What d'you think?? cheers!

Hello mate, Often these types of problems arise from bushings wearing down. And then the armature will start rubbing off the magnetic pole shoes slowing it down. So it gives you impression like the bad battery does, i dont think its something major, either bad bushings or bad brushes. Cheers.

Hello mate, solenoid for all of those mitshubishi starters are quite common, copy-paste the link i have in the description and it will bring you to the solenoid. The only diffrence is that the push-on terminal is on the other side of the cap. Pinion is not easy to find,10,11,12 tooth ones are common, but not nine. I can check it for you tomorrow and let you know in the comment box, Cheers.

;) No they are not,i just lost a second long bolt and couldnt find it, so i assembled the starter without it,which caused it to be bit lazy. But i tell you mate A1++ for spotting this :D,i'm impressed.

Hello mate, Its hard to tell what kind of a starter you have on it without any numbers. But usually what is fitted on them is a mitshbishi starter with a clutch rather that pinion. I might make a video for one of them shortly, maybe even tmrw cse its a video making day tmrw, the only problem is that the clutch might not be widely available. I will check do i have any of them in stock and let u know, Cheers.
