Here is a video cold-starting my Mitsubishi Pajero II 2.8TD 4M40 block. It has been sitting for 6 days, during those days the temperatures were hitting -18°C/0°F at night. Sadly when I was doing this video overall temperature was a lot higher, and plus it was around noon. It has new glow plugs, new glow plug relay, new 10W40 engine oil. For an old diesel engine, I think it performs well.
