Good stuff man. This problem is becoming more and more common as these cars get older.
Your evo videos are class, so well done, underated!
Have to say you have posted a video on everything i needed thanks man!
Thank you so much for this. I am currently experiencing this issue with my 2003
Good stuff man ..not a lot of evo owners and new owners just know the basics to keep the car running good..we all would like invincible evos..but in the end they still need basic stuff..maintenance ..keep up good info..👍
Great information bro!
I had this problem with my Mitsubishi Outlander 2003 model, IAC went bad after 19 years. First I tried cleaning it, no luck. Then replaced with a $30 chinese one, no luck, then found another after market and though it worked, it would shut off the engine in the mornings (had to rev it up for some minutes first). Had to take the shot and bought OEM $400 one. Now it runs as good as new. Just be aware after installing you must unplug negative battery cable, switch key to ON, wait 30 secs, switch to OFF, then plug battery cable again and the IAC will emit a CLICK sound, meaning it has been reset successfully and it's ready to be recognized by the computer
Awesome video bro, keep it up 👍🏼
good info here, your videos and input on evom have been great. however I am sick of insanely priced "evo only parts" mines for sale.
Beautiful thank you!
Good info💯 🙏🏼
Great info
I've tried after market electrical parts on my 350Z and I've had no problems they work just fine
My car had this problem a year ago when I first got it and I replaced it with 16 dollar one in Amazon and have no problems since. 1 year with it now still holding strong .

I did this with my tps and have had no issues with it either. The knock offs work and if they break in a year its 5% the cost of a new one.

my galant use similar if not same, ebay iac lasted 2 months before it start acting up company did send another no questions asked. I ride with a screwdriver and the new one in the glove box because I am lazy but will swap out this week keep the failing one as a spare in car in case this one goes bad too

They last about 2 Years but they do go bad. You can just buy a new aftermarket part every time too. It's cheap
Very common problem. I have a 2004 Evo 8 260 & on my 4th Idle speed control valve. Rough idle main problem and engine malfunction light stays on. Best advice, source OEM part.
Hmm, changed out my IAC, and now when it starts up i'm getting a high idle around 2500 rpms. When left alone creeps to around 3k. I've tried the unplug/replug on the battery already and i seem stuck... Last thing is to check for a boost leak, however everything was fine before changing... Put the old IAC back on still the same issue so no clue. I did take off the TB and changed the gasket but it seems slealed up well and did not touch the Set screw. Had 1 issue, created another Sad face...
Can the is pease gif you boost leak?
My gallant goes up to 3000rpm and den dies off I don't know if it the idle valve
its the same part for the mitsubishi colt - lancer-pajero io- pinin-
Having a similar issue except my idle is dipping to 300-400 rpms when I clutch in while driving/coasting and then slowly creeping back up. Any suggestions?

I have a 2003 mitsubishi lancer es. CN anyone tell me the specs of the screws that hold the iac please?
this can also happen if your vacuum tube is cracked (Tube connecting from the throttle body to the BOV)

Hey man, just wanna say your comment fixed my evo 6, so thank you very much👌🏻 I was going crazy looking for things. And you were spot on!
Did you ever experience any random stalling as well? Sometimes my idle hangs high too...but I know I have the newer design. Hmm.
@BoostedFilms
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, actually before the surging issue started, it would tend to stall out in first or reverse. If you didn't install your IAC, there is a good chance it may not be OEM even if its the revised, exposed spring style. I wish i had an OEM one and non-OEM IAC here to compare... Maybe someday.

@@BoostedFilms Okay...that's funny. I notice it happens in reverse more than anything, which I thought was weird considering its a manual and that doesn't matter. Lol. Mine is OEM, but, I bought it used, so, no telling age/mileage. Thank you, though. Suppose I found my issue. Its more annoying than anything but I'd rather it be right.
Does anyone know how when turning on the a/c, if the ecu sends voltage to the iac to increase idle speed or how that is supposed to happen? No guesses please. My idle does not increase as it should and in fact the additional load lowers it. I can't find anything on what measurements to take or where to take them. I have changed the iac and tps several times with no improvement. Also, does anyone know what that coolant valve in the carb is meant to do and if it could be a problem? I believe it is often deleted and later models don't have it. Thanks

I had my tuner adjust this for me.
My evo 8 will die sometimes when going into neutral. Could this be the same fix?
@BoostedFilms
4 жыл бұрын
Could be. I would probably do a boost leak test first.
My idle goes funny and stalls after I’ve given it a hit on boost. Would it be because a IACV?
@BoostedFilms

My initial guess would be to check for a boost leak.
@BoostedFilms did you ever find a cheaper replacement than the 500$ oem iac?

is the newer style one with the exposed spring cleanable? and if so with what?@@BoostedFilms
Apparently there are some factory equivalents for sebrings or something that you can get from a Chrysler dealership.. and much, much cheaper. Again, apparently.

Is the evo 9 IAC strictly a design change or does it work more efficiently?
@BoostedFilms
11 ай бұрын
I assume the 9 is better. Its basically the only IAC you'd get now if you bought a new OEM one for the evo 7/8/9.
Keep in mind that when you swap the IAC valve you will have to have an idle relearn procedure performed. It's not something you can do without the proper compatible equipment.

Hi I own a evo 5 and my cold start has dissapeared and have low rev on idle 500rpm I've replaced iacv still the same does new one need reset with evoscan? any help appreciated please help
Dang I'm having a problem with mine with the idle. It will not stay running on cold and it will keep a low idle. I turn the ac off and it wants to die. I changed it up with a ralliart one which looks the same and it worked for like 3 days and it's back to not wanting to idle! I hate this. 😭😭

Does moving the throttle plate screw or moving the TPS change anything? Cause I took it to a mechanic once and all they did was exactly that. Idk what to do now.
My Evo 8 giving a similar issue, when I rev the car to abt 3000 rpm n release it the rpm comes down to abt 500 rpm n sometimes lower then it stalls , sometimes when come to a stop it jus slowly comes down n then it sometimes stall but if I keep up the rpm it stay running if I drive abt 20 miles I will get a p0170 code fuel trim malfunction bank 1 .
Hi, the new IAC needed calibration?
@cosminb.4917

If yes, how?
@BoostedFilms
4 жыл бұрын
1. Start the engine and let it warm up. The A/C switch should be OFF for this procedure. 2. Repeat the following steps 3 times: Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and wait at least 10 seconds. Restart the engine. Leave the engine running after the third start. 3. Allow the vehicle to idle for a minimum of 15 minutes. - According to Google

Let the engine warm up with the new iac installed right? Then follow the rest of the steps.
Anyone else get a check engine light once they switched it
@dwalto1977

You have to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the plug on the sensor
I have issues where, at idle my boost gauge goes from -19, and creeps at-10 and my engine wants to stall, this is intermittent.
@BoostedFilms

Its probably worth checking the IAC. But it could also be a vacuum leak or a boost leak.
Works in Evo V?
