Thank you for this video Paul, I did vinyl siding on my home for the first time and this method made it easy it looks good! I wanted miters on the corners but didn't know how to go about it.

I can't see an advantage to doing this vs cutting the mitered face of the trim and a making a simple tab that factory installation instructions show. Leaving the nailing flange and most of the face on the bent tab only serves to stiffen the tab and prevent water from getting behind the tab's middle and lower section, which is not needed. The water entry path is at each end of the bend itself and some water can still enter at the edges of the tab's bend using either method. That's why proper house wrap installation and window flashings are critical before starting a siding job.

You should leave the Face Of side pieces squared on top and just 45 the sides of top piece gives u a tighter miter

Not only a tighter fit but when it gets cold and shrinks, it won’t as noticeable of a gap…and if ur doing this for a living ur not doing all this anyway, it would take to long and really it’s overkill IMO….make em all 1” longer and then put ur water tabs on the bottom sides and top and nail it to the wall 🤯

i thought j channel was a knuckle dragger activity, boy was i wrong. i'm trying to j channel around a exhaust fan i installed, it is wupping my rear. i was trying to frame it like a door, no go buddy boy.

This is a good idea, but for me just way too much work! I would rather spend more time with siding tape and paper and properly setting tabs is easier for me

If I may respectfully say…it’s extremely difficult to see the step by step instructions for a novice. It may be the best how to video but confused on how to do it. Sorry
