    Love your quilts, funny how we talk about our mistakes or beginning journey of not so good stitching. Very few people notice but us. I used the orange peel for the first time. Picked out a complete row and restitched. Much happier with it.

    It would look so awesome to do a two circles recreating the eclipse . It shows a very unique day. We felt the temp go down about 10 degrees. The eclipse alone now makes me want to do a temp quilt. Thanks for sharing

    You did a great job learning the skill to freemotion your projects. The Turkey is lovely! I went straight from following a pantograph on the back of my quilting frame with a laser pointer to adding a digital automation program to my Grace quilting machine. It makes me a happy quilter going from picking fabrics and pattern, sewing, quilting, binding...just like you said. Loved your personal projects as well as the beautiful quilts you quilted for others. Now I'm going to go rewatch the MSQ Pinwheel Charms Table Runner video. Thanks for providing the link!

    One thing that I really appreciate in a quilt pattern is the finished size of the block at each section you make. That way you can correct any size issues as you go along, it guarantees that the finished block is the right size. Pam Buda who is one of my favorite teacher and pattern makers, always puts that in her quilt patterns.

My neighbors and I talked about several experiences we have had with nature and the weather while watching the eclipse. A very enjoyable afternoon. Tammie your quilting journey is so interesting. The Turkey Trot pattern was a Jan Patek wall hanging. I bought the kit directly from her before there was an MSQ. Don’t know if they have an agreement with her. Jenny and Jan did a video tutorial together at one time. Have the TB book you showed but haven’t made as many from it as you have.

    When you do more custom do you use manual setting, precision, etc.? turning off the stitch regulator scares the heck out of me but I know it sews more smoothly. I’m afraid I’m going to break something 😅 I stick with hand guided pantographs with the laser light quilt from behind.

  • @tammieearnest

    @tammieearnest

    I do not do any custom work, only digital edge to edge now. Prior to having Prostitcher, when I did hand guided work, I did begin experimenting with stitching in manual mode and actually got to the point where I liked it better. 🫣 It does take practice but once you get into a rhythm it’s not bad. It’s worth a try.

    Yes I almost always use same color in both. Practice on a marker board with the dry erase marker held in your hand like you hold the handlebars of the machine. For your next designs, I would practice a paisley.
