Missouri NEW CWD rules & Missouri trail cams-Did we buy a deer desert?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Did we just buy a deer desert? Big Missouri buck desert? Well if so, no worries as this is what we are here for! Join Sharon and I today for a quick field video from this July 4th weekend as we check our trail cameras for the first time to see what kind of deer, velvet bucks and other wildlife that we may have captured on video! The trail cams right now are really just an after thought as our main priority is still filling dumpsters and getting our new Missour home ready to live in. But it is always fun to just take a ride in the woods on the ridge top roads with the Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate, spend some time together and see what is on the trail cameras! Thanks for joinins us today, and be sure to stay tuned for all of our new 575 acre Missouri home and land adventures as we are completely starting over again in life! Moving to a new home is never easy, but to another state, a whole new area, and a 575 acre piece of neglected land is surely going to be a major life challenge for us! But we will share it all with you with near daily posts, video projects, equipment projects, land management and land improvement projects, home rehab projects and much more country living and modern homesteading adventures! Thank you and we hope to catch you on the next episode! #kapperoutdoors2 #kapperoutdoors #kapperoutdoorsmissouri

Once people figure out there’s a new owner, you may have people coming out of the woodwork saying that they have previous permission to hunt. I’d keep a close watch this fall.

Everyone has to start somewhere! And with the antler restrictions that WERE in place we should have some decent mature bucks I would think. I just have to make our farm one of the best ones to keep them close! Thanks

I had pictures of some very nice deer on that farm in January. The big always stayed off the roads and in the brush

That's awesome thanks. The age structure should be decent with the antler restrictions that have been in place. Thanks

Fingers crossed! We have our work cut out for us! For such a beautiful property, aside from mast and maybe a few persimmons there is not much food or heavy cover!!

Your place is looking great. The CWD is getting closer to my place in Arkansas. I'm afraid that people will overreact and cause more harm than CWD itself. I love the videos.

Yep In WI I believe the gov't overreacted and suspect the same will happen in MO. Kind of a shame really, but it is out of our control. Thanks and good luck with your place in AR!

I live about 10-12 miles from your place, was surprised that Phelps was added to the list. In infamous MDC fashion, they released the updates after most folks were or already have done work for summer / fall plots. I refreshed mineral licks and blocks about 2 weeks before it was published.

Well I lived through this bs before in WI and it was not fun. They have overreacted (IMO) by the drastic measures they have taken, when I believe it is part of nature and will run its course. Not sure if WI and other states made any kind of difference with decades long drastic changes like these. I have found that larger landowners just did their own thing anyways and did not really notice much difference.

Last night we had over 13 deer come up for corn and then they went out and laid down for a spell. One buck has the biggest antlers and the rest aren't bad either. A few does are out there as well. I can see the flies are driving them crazy. I'm slowly taking down old fence and sometimes the posts as well making it easier to mow around and the fact are falling down. I have 2 mineral blocks out there and have only seen a few licking them

Well unfortunately I won't be able to have feed or mineral! Dang I was looking forward to it. But if I read it right you can still have feed within 100 feet of your home, presumeably for wildlife viewing I guess. But I'll confirm that, and if so I'll have a feeder or something going if that is still legal.

Such a shame you’re coming to Missouri as the cwd rules take effect… I really don’t have a problem with not using mineral or feeding. I’m not even against reducing the deer population but I’m for responsibly reducing the numbers without destroying the age structure of the herd. An additional week of rifle season during the rut with no antler restrictions is not the way to a prosperous future for hunting. There’s no reason we can’t lower numbers more responsibly by taking does… Allowing rifle hunting from November 16-December 1 alone will be bad enough plus the additional two youth weekends with firearms, as well as alternate methods(AR pistol...) season from December 28- January 7. Our best years are behind us sadly.

Man I know it and I agree. Our only hope is that we and neighboring land owners have large enough parcels to still manage things the way we choose to. But for smaller property owners this might not bode well. Man there was such an uproar in WI with all of this but they kept forcing this stuff upon landowners. Heck they even had sharpshooters wiping out rural deer herds..

@@KapperOutdoors2.0 MDC is doing the same. Where they get a deer that tests positive they will contact all nearby landowners and if one gives permission they go in and kill a lot of deer with sharpshooters. They even have a map on their website where they do it and how many deer are shot.
