Mission Impossible: Fallout - Caravan of Garbage

Ойын-сауық

Ever seen a man reload his arms before? Well if you've seen Mission Impossible: Fallout from 2018 then you absolutely have. Considered by many to be the pinacle of the Mission Impossible series it sees Solomon Lane's villainous return along newcomer Henry Cavill. This one has it all but in a way that elevants the stunts, the masks, the fistfights, the rockclimbing. Thanks for watching our Caravan Of Garbage review

I can't believe they missed the most fascinating part of Mistachegate. After filming the terrible Superman scenes, Tom Cruise did that stunt where he jumped on the roof and wrecked his ankle. That accident sent production into a tailspin that ended in a long break. Long enough for Cavill to have shaved and grown a new mustache, no problem. THAT is wildly hilarious to me.

I really like Henry Cavill's turn as Walker in this because the character is just this big iron cannonball of a man who scowls through every obstacle in his way. Sometimes when someone makes a heel turn in a film the actor suits one guise better than the other, but I like him before and after the twist. He's believable as the big jock Ethan initially ends up saddled with. I like how they inevitably have to start managing to sync up, like how they manage to work with each other and around each other in the bathroom fight. Then when it turns out he's a baddie he just fucks off. He just has a big dramatic powerwalk to his evil getaway helicopter. I love it. I agree that the moustache is a good look, but I particularly like how well it serves a big scowl in both modes.

Here's a bit of trivia: the HALO jump sequence took 106 attempts because of the difficulties in trying to capture the scene at perfect golden hour. Often times, the sun would set too quickly before or during the take, meaning the ARRIFLEX 235 (IMAX camera) exposure settings were now incorrect. Since they could only attempt it once a day, the sequence became far and away the most expensive part of shooting, with Paramount/Bad Robot executives growing displeased as it reaped more and more from the film's available budget. The combination of money harvested from takes lost to blue hour earned the film the working title--

This is one of the movies that really wowed me when I saw it in the theater. The long-ass Paris car chase was just so good. I remember at one point, I was just like "Oh. This just keeps going. Fucking awesome." I also think that they did a phenomenal job with the sound design. Every time a character fires a gun, it feels like there's a real concussion to it, not just the lazy generic "bang" that you hear so much. The cast also did a really great job. Henry Cavill and Rebecca Ferguson are absolutely perfect for these movies. And, I will admit, they kind of got me with the nuke fake-out at the end. I think this movie got away with it though. It didn't feel cheap, and everything had built up to it so well, that for a moment, I was like "Damn. I guess we went there." That kind of thing really wouldn't have worked in any lesser of a movie, even Ghost Protocol.

Director Christopher McQuarrie said that Tom Cruise had really wanted to take the stunts in this franchise to the next level and would often reference classic Jackie Chan Golden Harvest movies as a big inspiration in terms of the in-camera action set-pieces that they aimed to achieve. In particular, he cited Police Story 3: Supercop as a point of reference when it came to Fallout’s big helicopter set-piece, as well as Armour of God 2: Operation Blue Condor for the scene where he jumps from one building to the other, (coincidentally, both Jackie and Tom injured their foot performing this same stunt). However, for obvious insurance purposes, Tom was required to wear safety wires whereas Jackie Chan did it without. Many of these similarities eventually led to various members of the production team jokingly referring to the film as “Blue Harvest” which was also coincidentally the working title for the 1977 film Star Wars.

So apparently in the scsne where the truck gets knocked into the ocean and the villain has to hold his breath you can see him do quick breaths and then one deep breath before going under. This is to cause hyperventilation which convinces your body there is more breath in your lungs so you can breath longer underwater.

Well, I mean, the creators of Mission Impossible Fallout were able to convincingly CGI that footage so I have to imagine a spy organization with masks that look absolutely lifelike and giant projector screens that can fake a hallway could do the same lol

The biggest takeaway I’ve gotten from the Mission Impossible movies is that the IMF is run by idiots. Seriously, Ethan goes rogue in like, 5 out of the 7 movies (he goes rogue in Dead Reckoning, Part One), and he still saves the day and stops the villains. If he just followed orders from the idiots running IMF, then millions of people would have died in each of those movies lol.

Honestly "this movie was made by people who could commit to something and Justice League wasn't" is a brilliant way of putting it imo. Saying that a movie is better than the theatrical cut of Justice League isn't exactly a high bar to jump, but Fallout is such an insanely superior movie it's not even funny.
