That's just the points system now. Only Phoenix really matters but in my opinion he should've started focusing on the shorter tracks with 750HP so that he would do well.

Denny's 4 of his 7 wins dealt with rain and I love hearing DannyB in the Talladega finish 😂

It's quite amazing how Denny has come up short so many notable times. Quite honestly had it been him to get the title I would've more than accepted it. Unfortunately it seems like Hamlin will likely become the Mark Martin of our era, however.

fun fact: Hamlin's rain-shortened win at Darlington is the first time he ever won a rain-shortened race also, he has surpassed Mark Martin and Junior Johnson for best NASCAR driver to never win a championship this season. he ran way too well for a 15-year veteran to still have the "not a champion" label. at least he only lost to being outran and not losing on pit road like last year

3 years ago Denny Hamlin dumped Chase Elliot in an attempt to gain a spot in the championship 4, at Martinsville. Fast forward to today and now Chase Elliot is a champion while Denny Hamlin goes another year without and is ever closer to becoming another Mark Martin. Pretty ironic right?

Neither Harvick nor Hamlin won the Championship. Now that’s something to think about.

No practice and qualifying, which benefited the 11 team, no Harvick, no Truex, no Kyle Busch, this was the year to do it. I'm afraid he may never win it and that breaks my heart to type

Knowing that Hamlin has now fallen short of championships on five different occasions (2010, 2014, 2019, 2020, and now 2021) at the ends of those seasons specifically, I honestly am wondering nothing more than, will he seriously EVER win one?

I wouldnt say Hamlin was driver with most success of the playoff 4. He only had 1 more win than Chase if you include all star race. And Chase led more laps this year then Denny. Hamlin obviously went through a hot stretch but Chase was more consistent throughout the year

That's is why I think he is more deserving than Hamlin. A hot stretch isn't as worthy for a championship than overall consistency. And a champion needs to be consistant.

It was kind of redemption for him.

While he had the second most wins (just behind Kevin Harvick), he failed to win the championship yet again. On the other hand, however, Chase Elliott broke that streak, I mean Mr. Elliott hindered an even-numbered car from winning another championship. It's no longer Homestead. P. S. : My english is soooo average.

Hamlin has been so damn lucky this year. It sure didn't make up for all of the choking. Pretty lucky with the Daytona win, but that isn't unusually. Very lucky at Darlington when Busch wrecked Elliott on fresh tires. Lucky at Homestead when Logano decided Elliott should pay for Bristol. Then NASCAR flat out let him cheat at Talladega and they followed that up with letting JGR cheat for him at Martinsville. He didn't have a championship season. Not even close. I don't think he'll even with a championship until he accepts blame for his mistakes on track.

As for indy, he didn't cut his tire. He over drove his car when he had a big lead until he wore through his right front tire. Fucking clown shoes. Las Vegas? When he didn't lead a lap and finished midpack in the spring race or when he ran himself into the wall during the fall race? How does luck play into either of those?

This was a good season overall for a few drivers. The best thing to start the season was President Trump giving the command to start engines

This was really his chance since Harvick was already eliminated.

I think if were going to make an argument for a missing ring, the only driver that fits the bill is Kevin Harvick. Denny wasn't consistent enough under any format to win a championship in 2020. In the last twelve events, the guy only had five top tens. That's certainly not good enough. To me, Denny Hamlin is an unlikable version of Mark Martin. Always a solid contender for the championship (or at the very least a top seven points finish), but can't seem to seal the deal.

Choker like Harvick in 2020 and glad neither of them won the championship they hurt the 2020 regular season to an extent
