Good theory, I didn't think it.

Watched this a few times back and forth and really, the storytelling is amazing. I love how the wrapper was used as a psuedo-text box and because the girl is dead, her wrapper always says the same thing. That added so many layers of sadness because you can imagine how she most probably got lost in the forest, sprung the trap by accident after carefully avoiding so many before, and had to crawl towards the closest tree in tremendous pain and agony. As she struggles to sit up and rest on her back, she tried shouting for help but no one came. In an effort to distract herself from all the pain, fear and suffering, she reached for a candy and ate it. In a twisted irony, the wrapper says, "You found me", and she died holding onto it. All that storytelling in the final 2 cuts. It's brilliant.

@@mojonel No, the one with the nail in the head died years back from a bear trap. He was having hallucinations from possibly seeing her before she died. He ended up chasing the girl with the nail in her head through the woods (it was a hallucination) and eventually sat down at the tree. But he was alive. The corpse of nail girl definetly wasn't.

Ill be honest guys, this video is really important to me. I grew up honestly sociopathic, with no sense of empathy, and not really feeling emotions, going through relatives death without feeling anything, etc. But when I saw this video, this was the first thing in my life that genuinely made me feel emotion and empathy, and it made me sob finally feeling all the unfamiliar emotions I hadn't experienced. for the people that doesnt understand: the girl died by an bear trap and the littel boy was playing with her spirit and then that girl led him to her dead body... HOW DID THE GIRL DIE? the girl got stuck by and bear trap and she was waiting for somebody to find her but later on she didnt had any food and than u know.. 🙁

It's been 8 years, yet it's still a masterpiece.

At the end, you can see how the dead child’s body is still in the rotting process. If we’re getting scientific here, the body was left in a forest which is usually somewhat moist and lush. In this climate and environment, bodies take only about 3 weeks or so to decompose. In the flashback to the previous Halloween, they were still alive. That child died very recently.

At 7:56 you can see there’s a bear trap on her foot, when the flashlight hits her. Also, it was “last halloween” when he was beat up and first met her (without his mom there) and she first got the “you found me” note with him. He met her when she was alive, but I think the story was she died later that night last halloween (regardless of actual rot time). I mean, why else would she have died in that costume?

Since the girl's body wasn't completely bones, this means that the boy actually met her while she was still alive the Halloween prior to that Halloween. Since the girl is also still holding the same candy wrapper she got from the prior Halloween, she may have died the night they first met each other.

i still remember watching this on a snowy saturday night.

Even in 2024, this animation, storyline and depression bundle slapped me in the face so hard i can’t feel it.

I think she was leading him to her dead body so that someone could find her and she could finally rest easy. Which is why in the end when they were both eating candy by the tree, she finally had a smile on her face. Or she knew someone would come look for the boy, so they could give her a proper burial and she could finally rest.

Yesssss!!! Exactly!! When I first found this video the end made me feel all sorts of emotions! I felt sad, scared, sort of happy and more... It's just the fact that she was dead and decomposing this whole time and he was sitting next to her. And she must've been so scared as she was dying and in so much pain too. She is probably at peace now that the boy found her... 🙁

When I first watched this I was more or less a bit confused so I didn't pay no mind When I came across it in a KZread short of a shorten version of it And all of sudden I just started crying Like right now my eyes are still wet from crying Like every times that music and replayed over and over something in me just broke and I started crying Like it's fucked up this girl was alone but what's even more fucked up was the fact that she was young And judging by the woman book kids go missing a lot Like who knows how many more kids are out there in does woods waiting to be found Only for them to do a half-ass job at it Now this girl is dead didn't get a chance on having a full life with friends family her start own family Be successful have fun in life But no some dumbass decided to be funny and put bear trap all over the place And it took this young girls life Wtf it's just ugh

this story still hits hard in 2024, i remember watching it in 2016, also regarding the theories some say the girl died a year prior to doesnt make sense as in the end the corpse looked too fresh to be so also in the beginning theres foreshadowing with the bear trap mark on her leg

The girl is shown to be dead; her corpse is rotting and only the boy can see her ghost. I believe that the girl is lonely and wants a friend, so she tries to lead the boy into the traps in hopes he dies- the same way she died

Explanation: The boy was lonely, vulnerable, and young being a perfect target for a spirit to show itself too. The first year they met, it is visible on the girls leg that there is teeth marks from the metal bear traps, where she unfortunately lost her life to one. Throughout the whole video, she is trying to lure him into finding her body, however she finds it no better time to do so when he finds out that she could possibly be fake, and played out from his mind, once she makes herself to the metal fencing and through, she descends into the woods in a swiftly manner, knowing where every bear trap is and knowing he’d follow closely behind so he wouldn’t lose her in the woods, mainly for his safety but most importantly to find her body. Once he meets her at the tree, they both share another piece of candy together, sadly that will be their last. He had found her. Where she had passed due to the trap, where she was once lonely and vulnerable, and sadly where she bled out to death. It is seen once the search party found the boy and now, the girl laying up against the tree beside him, she is badly decomposed, and upon her lap laid the candy note “you found me” where a year prior she had ate her last piece of candy and died shortly after, Reason why whenever they shared candy together, it always read the same thing. When the women officer notices the dead remains of the child, she looks through her book where she notices that the girl looks like the one who went missing a year prior on Halloween day. Thus the boy finding the girls remains, letting her pass on freely, and the search party that could never find her can now properly give the girl a funeral and bring her family closure for her disappearance. This is very sad, yet so beautiful. Hope this cleared up some confusion

Ive been watching this once every year and damn......Im still crying at the end knowing the little girl died probably crying for help but no one came

Did she die before meeting him or after meeting him? Because when they first met last halloween, she already had the mark from the bear trap on her leg. If she was alive when they first met then it’s even sadder cause that means that she kept the paper saying “you found me” and held onto it as she died with the hope that her friend would find her. If she was already dead when they first met then that would mean the “you found me” paper was from the last candy she ate which is also sad and taunting because she was dying all alone, nobody knowing where she is and she gets hit with a “you found me” paper.

The fact that the wrappers said “I found you!” and “You found me!” then he sees that he actually found her with her corpse, it’s so heart breaking for him to realize he really had found her and that she was a ghost the entire time..

Or we could say he's with the girl's ghost/soul all this time. She probably got bear trapped there. As she was slowly dying waiting for help. Her last meal was a candy with the note you found me. As her corpse still holds the note. The female kid led him to where she is so they can find her body. Sorry if my english is bad. Im not an english native speaker. + i know it's just animation but this really broke my heart when you think about the torturous she went through.i mean she's just a kid.

I don’t know if I’m correct, but in the last scene we can see that the forest is dark and the police have to use flashlights and sticks to see where the bear traps are. When the girl’s spirit is walking through the forest, she is lighting the way so the boy doesn’t fall on the bear traps. I found that cute.

Can we take a moment to acknowledge the fact that the "You Found Me" note was real, and the very last thing she ever read? Like, this little girl was bleeding out, in pain, in the middle of the woods, all alone, and when she ate her candy, the wrapper said, "You Found Me." But no one ever did. (Until the boy) This poor baby. ;^;

I remember seeing this animation 8 years ago and it had scared me. I found myself thinking about it again and finally found it. And Wow its now just a bitter and lonely feeling. This is a true work of art.
