Suzy deserves all the fame she got and more. Her acting is of the best among Idols with Eunji in my opinion. Suzy worked her BUT OFF nonstop since debut never once complaining. She has no scandals and seems genuinely kind to everyone she works with Despite her fame she stayed loyal to her group and company to the very end. Shes both beautiful and humble and delt any criticism with class.

Seriously Suju got away with saying the most damaging things to women :( Suzy was a KID what right did he have to say she had to lose weight. I'll never forget when Kyuhyun called Goohara a w*ore as a 'joke' on air and the hosts said SHE overracted by crying. Now goohara is struggling with depression and attempted suicide after an abusive partner. But they always blame the girls. Disgusting.

I agree, even as an ELF. I always say that SM just lets them do whatever tf they want. They're so lenient on SuJu, but ridiculously harsh with others over petty things :L The favoritism is real Hara's situation really worried me (huge KARA fan here- yeah I'm an oldie haha). And based on how everything's going, her ass of an ex won't be paying for much smh. I just hope her mental health can improve now that she's out of that relationship

I worked with kids at a Korean company recently, and even the middle schoolers were trading dieting tips, calling themselves (not necessarily each other) fat, and saying they were going to go on diets consisting of only eating one apple per meal. One kid even told me her own MOM supported this apple diet, while her dad was against it. It was seriously messed up.

@@ehyzen Also I'll tell you, I've worked with kids of all ages at other mixed race companies, and I never heard any talk about weight loss or dieting. The way these idols talk about dieting is exactly how the children talk about it. That's not to say there isn't a pronounced issue with eating disorders in American youth, but just that it definitely seems to be on a whole another level in Asia.

I'll never understand the ridiculous methods these _male_ variety hosts go through to find out a female idol's weight Like- wtf ??? The scale trick reminded me of the time a group (I think Girls Day) was secretly weighed onstage during an public event outside smmfh

Can I just say that I like how Seung Gi called out Leeteuk during the show bc even with his “apology,” him and Shindong still were laughing as if Suzy wasn’t discussing something very personal. I think that what he said is what he meant, and that he took the opportunity to apologize only bc it would’ve looked bad on him.

Not all...Ryeowook is extremely gentle towards them like when Yuqi said she is his fan he treated her like a friend or a daughter. Heechul has still manners when it comes to females. Sungmin has a wife and put her before his career. I am an ELF and i do agree Leeteuk went overboard (and has many times) but then again he has eating disorder himself (not excusing his words, he has said fucked up shit regardless). But remember Suju still has members who have not done stuff like this

People shouldn’t pressure idols to lose weight criticize their weight. It causes so much emotional damage on the idol, and it lowers their self esteem by a lot.

Why are they so nosy?? Even my mum doesn't give a shit about my weight, she's just like "eat well"

damn this is the saddest "weight loss" story ive seen...she was too young to be criticized for her weight, and that must have caused many unhealthy habits to lose the weight drastically and then gaining it all back. I myself have an eating disorder so i understand how she must have felt. i know kpop is all about visuals and she chose this profession, but srsly ppl didnt have to be so harsh about it. shes always been absolutely beautiful everytime i saw her

Young Forever Suzy’s story is at least in the top three. Try looking up Uee from After School (she had made a video of her, but it got taken down) as well as Sulli. Their stories were more traumatic..

In my country I’m considered thin whereas in Japan I’m considered fat and my classmates call me pig or fat. It hurts cuz I just have pear shaped body.

It'd be a monthly thing for me lol. I gain weight due to my monthly curse of womanhood and then loose it and become a twig because I tried to diet to loose the weight. And then as soon as I think "oh, why did I diet?" I get to a healthy weight and then the cycle repeats

Yeah exactly ! I thinks normal that throughout someone’s life time that they don’t always stay the same weight. I do think these videos are good for pointing out how much pressure k pop idols get to look perfect but I wouldn’t like to be in one myself.Bae Suzy looked pretty at all the weights she was at in the video anyway.

i hate how they think it's normal to call out someone who's clearly thin, saying they need to lose weight and think "you lost weight" it's a compliment. it isn't.

can you do dreamcatcher gahyeon please ? shes constantly losing weight right before a comeback and then gaining it all back after and recently she lost so much weight in the span of just 2 months. in July dreamcatcher posted a dance cover video where gahyeon was twice the size of her other members but in September they had a comeback and shes lost so much weight and now is the same size as her other members. I'm really worried about her especially bc she's also the maknae of the group but there's not a lot of talk about it since dreamcatchers not very well known

I noticed the same thing, when Dreamcatcher was on immortal song she was twice as big as other members (not a bad thing) but now she's one of the smallest. It was just so quick that I'm worried ;(

When it comes to JYP idols being overweight, their staff ain't happy about it, like Jihyo during sixteen, she legit said "Jihyo you look fat" and checked to see what was wrong, in front of tv, and other staff and trainees, like it's so sad thinking about how these idols get judged for gaining weight

It's part of the requirements for kpop idols...I remember on Sixteen, Jihyo almost didn't got in on the debut bcoz of her weight.

And clothing can change you body figure. For example if I wear high waisted jeans my stomach looks smaller and if i wear low waisted jeans i would look like a brick. Suzy wasn’t fat at any point and i am with you on this, her bangs made her face look rounder.

The only ones that even remotely deserve to be called garbage are Kangin and Shindong (obviously), then MAYBE Kyuhyun or Yesung on a bad day. Considering the group is huge and they've been around since 2005, that's a pretty damn good ratio.

i have seen her outside before, literally up close like 1m away. She is so pretty like an angel.

It’s only been a few months since i’ve started watching kdramas so i wasn’t familiar with korean actors and actresses (or idols) but after watching While you were sleeping and uncontrollably fond (i LOVED them btw) i really started liking Suzy but i saw a lot of people hating on her for various reasons. I didn’t understand the hate she got and after watching this video and seeing how much shit she had to go through i understand it even less ! She offically has my respect. I’ve seen a lot of people saying she was overrated and that she didn’t deserve her fame but actually there is only one things she didn’t deserve and that is exactly what we see in this video. The unecessary critism she got at SUCH a young age for something as ridiculous as her weight. Why would anyone ever spend so much time worrying about something that doesn’t even affect their own life??? It’s her body and she always seemed healthy. The worst part is seeing how hypocritical all these people are: they shame her for her body and make fun of it on purpose but try to find excuses once she loses weight.

I respect this woman a lot. Although ED's are not a choice and idols are constantly being bombarded by criticism, I don't like at all their "diet talks" and open self body shaming at all. In the end, by calling themselves whales while having a normal weight and over sharing extreme weight-loss tips, they're only spreading the toxicity more. But Suzy made the wise thing to just not share unnecessary and potentially risky information and stay low in that topic. Even when she spoke, she would say something along the lines of "people criticized me for my weight a lot and I felt very self-conscious" instead of "I was a fatty, so people criticized me a lot". Just a slight change of words can make a message be totally different

They should be upfront when people say something rude. "Need to lose weight"?? Man, she's a young child who started being in an entertainment industry. I'm so disappointed. :( But looking at Suzy now, she's happy with what she's doing. So Leeteuk, where are you now huh?

I might try that, I've already gotten a few requests. I guess I've just been hesitant because it will be different trying to cultivate a story for them. Kpop fancams and candid photos make storytelling more linear and they get so many interviews. American celebs are much more hush-hush and our paparazzi photos are just plain out ugly and make celebrities bodys look warped and disfigured on red carpets. So it's harder to draw and honest comparison for photos that don't depict reality in the 1st place

Although to be completely honest their are a few American celebs I absolutely can not stand and I don't think I could sit through hours of making a dedicated video for them. It's so much easier to be unbiased with Kpop because I'm just not that into it. But I grew up with western celebs and have pretty strong opinions on some and it would likely hinder my view of storytelling XD

We love everything about our Queen Suzy regardless of what you people said about her. Not a single human being living under the sun, the moon and the stars has a perfect weight since the day we were born to the day we die, life is a roller coaster so criticising one’s weight is a reflection of one’s self.

I never knew or noticed the obsess around her weight, even if it is cultural, I still think it's ugly and misplaced. I like her in Vagabond, she makes good decision for her career!

Suzy was so professional on responding the other idol's comments about her. It was so obvious that she was uncomfortable especially in this clip(10:39), but the girl still continued on her criticism about her diet and stuff, obviously making fun of suzy's habits just to get other people's attention.

call me american, but i cant even tell the difference.

Same with IU's alleged potato diet. I've never heard IU say that but reports were popping up here and there and so many people started doing the diet. But IU couldnt even find a video of her saying/confirming it.

I'm happy she never talked about diet especially she has fans that are young and would probably try to copy her. She also seem to be healthy which is a good example to her fans 😍

IU and Suzy is a household name in Korea, established now more than ever so no matter what they do knetz will still support them..

The damage is done though, although Suzy never say anything about diet, she probably starve herself or workout like crazy everytime to lost weight so fast. IU? Iam sure theres a popular viral IU diet and its extremely dangerous, especially since IU works hard and the diet didnt give her energy she suppose to have. Iam not surprised if both of them have eating disorder now.

It's extremely saddening how many shallow comments there were about her looking "pretty" when she had lost an unhealthy amount of weight

I'm loyal and have a GF and its not like I would ever even meet her. But Suzy at her "heaviest" used to be my "perfect" girl type reference to my friends a few years ago when I was 17. Its sad that people over there thought that was "fat".

another reason why i think she maintained her weight during 2016 was that she was now adjusted as an adult and actually happy. it seems like miss A was never a close group and she probably had difficulties being with her being so popular when they weren't. it wasn't their fault, it's just netizens and jyps for not trying to even out fame

Nonton semua ini geram banget, puas banget lihat Suzy yang sekarang hasil dari kesabaran bertahun-tahun, sekarang apalagi Knetz head over heels ke dia, gak peduli berapa berat badannya mereka muja-muji Suzy, pujian yang pantas untuk public figure unproblematic dan membuktikan popularitas tinggi sampai sekarang, bahkan sampai sekarang Suzy idol S-class, eternal nation first love of Korea, dan rekornya apalagi untuk CF Queen belum ada yang bisa menandinginya. suzy is my ultimate bias and i knew she went through a hard time which made her even stronger but i never knew it was to think extent. i think It's very cruel idk how else to put it but being that young in the public eye under so much stress probably made it even harder. It's a shame grown men and people decided to pick on her for something she couldn't entirely control. losing weight isn't easy and keeping it off is even harder and for her i think most of it was baby fat they didn't even let her grow into her true self. i grow to love her even more now shes seriously so strong, talented and hard working.
