So sad that she's gone. She was a pretty woman who spoke elegant, and from the little pieces I read, was quite a woman. There was a link to her facebook. She had put a post up 16 days before she died, was talking about her dad, and supporting the V foundation of victory over cancer.

The screaming of the crowd both when Kansas' score was first posted and then again when Barbara Eden reviews all the scores proves that they obviously saw the scores on some sort of monitor in the audience.

Hawaii should have won....Judge Barbeau gave her low marks? What a $%#@*!! Her gown was awesome.....and should have gotten a higher score.

I too believe that Hawaii was way underscored especially in Evening Gown. I couldn't believe that she lost the evening gown round of the competition. She was beautiful and the dress was amazing.

Miss Hawaii USA 2016 wore an almost identical gown at the Miss USA 2016 pageant, and ended up 1st RU. Feels like a homage to the gown worn by Miss Hawaii here. Aside from that, I liked Miss Kansas' gown here more than the one she wore at Miss Universe. Also, disappointed she eventually turned to the adult film industry.

I liked Hawaii a little better, but Kansas was beautiful. Hawaii got so robbed in evening gown. Crichton and Barbeau are complete idiots to have given that gown an 8.5. It's nice that Kansas won, but I would have picked Hawaii, this is a year Hawaii should have won.

Miss Kansas looked like a mutant porn star from Gunsmoke. She won because the pageant was held in the state of Kansas that year. Miss California and Miss Hawaii were more deserving of the crown.

I have to say, this is one really pretty top 10. And thats saying alot for the 80s going into the 90s.

I believe Miss Mexico was unbeatable at that competition. Maybe top 3 or top 6 like Kelli achieved.

I couldn't agree more, one of the best I've seen in quite a long time. There's no way she should have lost this round of the competition. Crichton and Barbeau are both idiots.

You've got a point on the last paragraph, that it's more important the focus doesn't go just on the dress. But I have to say, in Hawaii's case it was a bit different, as the dress draws you in, and then the construction brings your focus up to her face, just gorgeous. Oklahoma was too, but she was also short, which unfortunately is usually a mark against you in the pagents. It's not fair that it is, it just is that way

That's an interesting observation on the differences of the gown competition in the US versus other places. I have to agree there are times that I just don't get how bad some of the dresses are in Miss USA. There have been exceptions though. In 2004 Shandi from the US wore that gorgeous Blue gown, one of the best from the US IMO. But you are right, when I look back, the US doesn't get to many in the great dept. 1992 was a perfect example, what a horrible gown at Miss Universe and at the US

hmm, a bit rough on California, she was never my choice either, but didn't think she was horrible. I agree with New York too, I think she too was overlooked but still give my highest score to hawaii.
