Actress and former Miss India Universe Sushmita Sen speak on her rivalry with Aishwarya Rai. She says," We never have enough time to be enemies, rivals or friends. We were always people who knew each other from distance. We minded our own business. We were not of the best friends or please you first you first types. We always wanted to be best in our own ways proven to be. I went ahead and won Miss Universe and she went ahead and won Miss World. Neither of us was second to anybody. We did our job and we did it well. And I think that is one thing that people should keep in the back of their heads is that if at all we have rivalry we will have for our own work. We have to make sure that Hey! I am doing this badly. I should be good at this. We can compare two people one against another when both of them are perfect. None of us are perfect. We both have started a new career. We both have to work really hard to make a place for ourselves before we can sit and start and comparing us to each other you know. So there is no such thing as a rivalry. People will still write about it people will still talk about it. It is something that interests them very much.".
Sushmita Sen is an Indian actress, model and beauty queen who has crowned Femina Miss India Universe in 1994 and she later won the Miss Universe 1994 contest at the age of 18. Sen is the first Indian woman to win the competition. Primarily known for her work in Hindi films, she has also appeared in Tamil and Bengali language films. She has won several accolades including a Filmfare Award.
After completing her reign as Miss Universe, Sen began receiving various offers to act in movies. She made her acting debut with the Hindi film Dastak in 1996. The Tamil musical Ratchagan (1997) was her first commercial success. Did she rose to prominence by featuring as the female lead in several top-grossing films including Sirf Tum, Hindustan Ki Kasam and the comedy Biwi No.1 (all 1999), Aankhen (2002), Main Hoon Na (2004) - her biggest commercial success so far, and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005), and received critical recognition with female-oriented roles in films such as Filhaal... (2002), Samay: When Time Strikes (2003), Chingaari (2005) and Zindaggi Rocks (2006).
Aishwarya Rai, also known by her married name Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is an Indian actress, model and the winner of the Miss World 1994 pageant. Through her successful acting career, she has established herself as one of the most popular and influential celebrities in India. Rai has received numerous accolades, including two Filmfare Awards from eleven nominations, and she was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009 and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2012. She has often been cited in the media as "the most beautiful woman in the world".
While in college, Rai did a few modelling jobs. Following appearances in several television commercials, she entered the Miss India pageant, in which she placed second. She was then crowned Miss World 1994, after which she began receiving offers to act in film. She made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam's 1997 Tamil film Iruvar and had her first Hindi film release in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya that same year. Her first commercial success was the Tamil romantic drama Jeans (1998), following which she achieved wider success and won two Best Actress awards at Filmfare for her performances in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Devdas

@@nilanjanataraphder2178 that's not true the world knows Aishwarya rai as a typical Indian beauty which is not true.... a typical indian woman has brown eyes black hair and a beautiful face.... Sushmita would have been a perfect international recommendation but they choose Aishwarya because she looks more European than an actual Indian. studies show that colored eyed people in India are not common, on the other hand even aish is not so doing well internationally. never has actually going to Cannes and being the face of l'oreal is just a side job of a singer or acter. well deserved pryanka who does not even get helped by proper management is doing way better than aish has ever done internationally i am not a Aishwarya hater i like her too... she is beautiful, but not smart.

No one knew Sushmita Sen, but Aishwarya Rai was already a popular model and when it was announced Aishwarya was going to be one of the contestants at Miss India ‘94, almost everyone believed she was going to win hands down. No one expected an unknown girl from Delhi, fresh out of college, to beat Aishwarya Rai. For Aishwarya it was sheer bad luck, that she ran into Sushmita Sen. Lara Dutta is the only other Miss India with exceptional communication skills. And both Lara and Sushmita are the only 2 Indian Miss universe’s ever. It tells u how much communication and intelligence matters besides physical beauty.

You said wrong, instead of that you should say there have been so many miss World from BharatVarsh, but in Miss Universe only one name that come to our mind when we say Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen from BharatVarsh. I recall watching miss universe and world in 1994 with my mom & aunts. I was barely 8yrs old and though I didn’t understand the ins and out of beauty contests I was nonetheless captivated by these 2 women. They were beautiful in and out their Charisma and brains blew me away and is inspiring.

Sushmita's fans seem to bring down aishwarya at every point. I think it's because Sushmita's career didn't do so well but she herself doesn't seem to have a problem with it. They're also blind to her being in a relationship with Modi but drag Aish for her tax scandal. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Who doesn't envy successful people around them? Sush at sometime must've been envious of Aish because Aish was already a well-known face in the modelling industry before they went on to participate and win in the beauty peagents. Aish also made it bigger in the movies than did Sush. However, there are reasons for Aish to be envious of Sush too. Sush won the Miss Universe and is much respected for adopting girls and making their lives. Well, the maturity that Sush showed at the young age of 18/19 is commendable. She still continues to be the same mature and elegant lady. They're both incredible and we have never had such women as beauty queens ever again so far.
