    In 64 years old and watched Miss America Pageants every year. This is so strange, even from last year 2019. I am saddened in this format and please bring back the runway. Make this as special as it use to be.

    The true is: that thing is not amazing. Is boring. The proof that before 2020 non stereoryped girls were elected as Misd América is that in the last editions ugly girls were crowned, but they had great personalities, talent and communication skills plus the event was entertaining. Nowadays this pageant is boring.

    I am honestly suprised over all The negative comments? As a woman of 2020 it's sooooo refreshing to see powerful and well educated women speak of their Dreams and achievements? To me, the old format feels exactly that: old. And miss USA feels incredably dated. In sweden, beauty pagents dissapeared already in the 90's because of it' s terribly objectifying and outdated way of judging women.

    I found it enjoyable, but agree, bring back evening gown. Give all 15 semi finalists a chance to shine in at least one televised competition. It went from 15 to 8 with nothing in between. I assume score slates weren’t completely wiped clean for the Televised part of the competition. Since they never said so. I also liked when they used to do the America’s choice save for a sixteenth finalist. Wish they still did that. I know I’m watching this way after the fact. I was up in the middle of the night, just started googling Miss America. Fun too watch. Loved all 3 top finalists. Very talented ladies and impactful social platforms. I personally think between the top 2 it came down to the final questions from the judges. The winner was more confident and articulate under pressure of those last questions IMO. It’s too bad though we didn’t know COVID19 would make the next pageant a year later impossible. Had we, maybe they could have crowned the winner for 2020 and the first runner up for 2021. Because I loved the first runner ups platform. So essential. It was my favorite platform of the top 3 finalists. As well as sort of encompassing the other finalists platforms. Because first Foster Parents should be mentors to Foster kids mentoring was the 2nd runner up’s platform: Also many kids do end up in Foster Care because of opioid or other drug or prescription drug abuse. So I think the first runner up’s platform would have touched on all of those areas so important to the top 3 finalists. Overall loved the new format, except they didn’t highlight the evening gown. Also would have been nice to see a brief recap of what Miss America 2019 accomplished during her tenure with a video segment. I thought the change with the judges asking all the questions interacting personally with the contestants was great and relatable. The judges did well. It’s been several years since I watched Miss America, so I don’t know how long judge/contestant interaction has been more personal. But I watch performance shows, so I didn’t mind the American Idol vibe with the judges. It showed better how the judges listen and impact who ends up crowned. Great show! As an aside, I didn’t realize until all my searching tonight that Miss America 1993 Leanza Cornett, passed on suddenly last October of a brain injury, at age 49. So sad, to know that. I originally started watching Miss America in the late 80’s.

    First time watching ms america. Gosh with a format and focus similar to Ms World, I really thought this would be boring. But its not! The pageant is smooth and frenzy at the same time. Its amazing that they are showing women way beyond their beauty.. usually girls glow the best at gowns; i think its the reason why they did that right at the very beginning- to show that these ladies are definitely beautiful. And after using their beauty to call attention, they just explode into great details of theirselves. The swimsuit, the catwalk.. who needs that. :)

    Overall it was a good show. But the talent round is a little unfair. Some girls can cook, some can play chess, some can play volleyball, etc but they can't show those talents on the stage which is unfair.

    I didn't like in the beginning where each girl introduced herself and rattle off a lot of her degrees they were talking really fast and I think there was another way to present their degrees even if it had been a prepaid session. It just seemed like they were trying to get through too much too soon and I didn't like separating them into business and science etc. They should just do the presenting like they did in the 2020 Miss universe package.

    As a teen girl I'm kinda disappointed. I have poor self-esteem about my body and seeing these women not have the swimsuit and evening gown competition makes me feel like as a girl I should be ashamed to have a body like I do, and that isn't fair.

    What I loved about the swimsuit competition was that it showed the power of making good healthy changes so that you can’t far more confidence in your body, which is your vehicle in life! I completely agree with you! There has to be a focus on physical fitness whether that be with a swimsuit or not. If you ever lose confidence in your body, focus on fitness! It brings lots of joy!

    @@hay9663 That's valid and important, I'm smart but doesn't really after to anyone. Which is fine because I know that I don't have to please anyone. And women with beautiful minds are absolutely amazing and very talented. For me the body thing just struck close to home since I used to have body image issues and it took seeing other people being confident in their skin for me to learn how to. Education is important and if these ladies can share their knowledge then bless them!

    Is pageant of miss america will be the representative for miss universe?

  • @mysticgirl916

    @mysticgirl916

    No, Miss America is a separate pageant system and its winners do not compete on the international circuit. Miss USA chooses the representative for Miss Universe, and separate competitions choose for other events like Miss World, Miss International, etc.
