Misplaced Find! Avon, Milk Glass, Ceramics' List, Rocking & Victorian Chairs - Thrift with Dr. Lori

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I've got more from the Goodwill #thriftshop in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania including a misplaced find! See the unmarked mid-century modern candlestick holders I found in the wrong aisle. You've got to shop all of the aisles! Plus, watch me uncover an Avon bottle, a milk #glass bud vase and a 1940s-50s lipstick and powder dish while I'm #shopping.
I shopped for ceramics too including stoneware pieces, Japanese bouillon cups and English teacups. Watch and don't miss my list of English ceramics that you need to find during your next haul or attic cleanout. I also discovered a 1960s solid hardwood rocking chair for under $20 and a Victorian side chair for under $15. I left these two chairs for you to buy and flip for much more. You won't believe the deals I left for you to find in these two chairs alone.

As this video shows, you can find some gems in Goodwill. However, in my opinion, they have become rediculous on many things. It's not just them though (technically every business has) as many thrift stores have followed suit. I was in one where I live last week (whom is a charity and gets items donated) and came across a very old but also well worn trunk. Still seeing the beauty in it I looked at the $500 tag for about ten seconds to make sure I wasn't seeing things before just leaving and not buying anything.

I agree with you completely! Thrift stores were started so that poor people could afford to buy clothes and other items. In many thrift stores today you go in and end up feeling as though you’ve stepped into a high end antique store or a consignment shop where buyers expect to pay top dollar for their items. It’s very difficult to imagine being poor and not even having the money to buy a few necessities at any thrift store.

Dr Lori, love your videos. I've been thrifting for decades for myself. I've flipped a few things, donated back some but it's a fun hobby. I agree the florist vases may not be a good deal to flip but they've really up'd their game with very nice glass & pottery pieces, many made in the USA.

Love these Goodwill videos. I have quite a few near me, the closest being the best one. I just picked up 3 beautiful vases last night. One I’m pretty sure is Waterford, one is a tall large Lexox and don’t have any idea what the last one is but it’s a nice extra large heavy vase. Mostly they had glass vases but I look for the lead crystal ones that won’t tip over with a large bouquet of flowers. Love your videos like this.

I agree with many of the comments, here in Canada many of the thrift stores (Value Villiage, Talize, etc) are selling things at retail prices so there is little-to-no room for re-selling. However, if you know what you're looking for, you can find hidden gems! I recently found a beautiful piece of blue Murano (ashtray style) with gold leaf and bullicante, for $10!! So it's still possible, we just have to hunt harder than we used to!

I need to get some appraisals from you. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can arrange that. When I lived in Colorado Springs I found a lot of 0:03 beautiful, collectible glass. Being ten minutes from where they made Fenton there’s a lot of it going around here. But I’m most excited about the amberina and curious how much my collection may be worth. Corning glass was in the area as well. Don’t get me started on marbles. 😅

No way would I ever find that many options in a day😅
