I believe I heard this story in a short KZread video with Sir John Eliot Gardiner. It also speculated that the very high notes were improvised by choral eunuchs. Mozart had to "steal" the score because Pope Urban VIII restricted its performance to the Sistine Chapel. Thus Mozart had to travel to Rome, listen to the piece once, and transcribe it from memory. Genius is genius. Never try to understand it or explain it. As far as I'm concerned, like the Miserere Mei, it is a work from one of God's creatures for God. We enjoy the collateral benefit. God only knows how fortunate in a way are those with the gifts and talents to perform it (not that I'm indorsing the C word; the procedure isn't necessary because we now have women voices and those of boys before puberty.) Sir John's chorales are always extraordinary. I recommend his book on Bach.

There is a power, mystery, and enlightenment in this music that is unmatched in modern music. Divine inspiration is the only way I can explain it. Sometimes, if we are ever so penitent and humble, God gives us these brief glimpses into His essence. It is a holiness and magnificence that our mortal minds can scarcely comprehend. It speaks to our souls

Beautiful rose window from St Vincent's cathedral in Saint-Malo, Brittany, France. Almost entirely destroyed by bombings in August 1944, the cathedral was rebuilt in the decades following the conflict. That's why the rose window is modern. The cathedral is still one the most remarkable monuments of this old walled-city and harbour, once famous for its brave privateers (corsaires) and sailors. It is in this church that explorer Jacques Cartier received a formal blessing in 1535, just before traveling to the New World. He is remembered as one of the founders of New France and present-day Québec, and is still buried on the left-side of the choir.

The best version is from the sixteen. This music is full of legends. Mozart would have memorized this entire piece after hearing it only once when he was in Italy. The Allegri's miserere was composed around 1630 by the italian composer Gregorio Allegri. It was commissioned by the Pope Urban VIII. Since the 17th century it has been performed in the Holy Week (Easter) services in the Vatican.

I loved this movie!!! And i am a Man🙌🙌🙌 So fresh, fun and exciting with great meaning and depth to the story! 👍 I think this movie is definitely both for whomen AND men. There are so much to gain from this movie.

Doug why does anyone want to sing this in Heaven? I don't. It's a prayer for forgiveness. In Heaven sin does not exist. If we get to Heaven we will be singing Gloria to GOD in the highest; no more dirges for this old boy.
