MischiefMaker Breaks In A Big Way!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Hey my lovelies
Mischiefmaker.info
Well,
I finally told myself to take a little time off from working in the garage and this is what I hit. A fantastic day still but it’s time to do something I’ve wanted to do to MM for a while and this is the perfect time.
Everything g has to be fixed before the end of the week so… stay tuned to what is going on with him.
Thank you so much for watching and I’ll see you soon.

I think you could have made a call and got a shirt. Kudos for making it out on your own!
I absolutely love your positive vibe. As they say, "a bad day wheeling is better than a good day at work".
What a morning you had. Call Matt for a rescue - now back to your video. You gals are very resourceful 👍
Hollie in a good state and you have great friends there as well like Rudy, Matt ,and paul
Ol’ mischief maker saw all the attention Nessie got and is demanding equal shop time😂😂😂
The fact that you stayed positive through it shows your character. I know that you will get this fixed in no time and it will be better than it was before.
Sorry Hollie!! Hope you get MischiefMaker fixed up soon!! Great video!! Those were some awesome obstacles you guy's were climbing!! Nice camera work too!!!
situations like this can be so stressful but you kept so calm awesome job
You should have made the “Call”. Matt probably would’ve done a trail repair on “Mischief Maker” and you would’ve been able to finish the day “Wheelin”.

This bracket has been field repaired before. It’s a bit like a paper clip that has been bent too many times…it was better to exit the trail and start drawing up a newer/better bracket.
Now that you found the “weakest link” it’s easy to replace with upgrades.
This sounded like a job for the worlds biggest offroad wrecker!! lol
Ooof rough break, glad you got some wheeling in. Even better, so many great friends to lend a hand! And THIS is one of the reasons why one should never go wheeling alone!
I would bet that Rudy from RAD could make you up a nice heavy duty trackbar bracket and then weld it to never break again...
You needed to “make a call” to Matt to do the trail repair for you. 😊
Ugh i hate seeing you upset, hopefully everything is fixed quick and easy!
I can’t tell you how much I loved your positivity in such a challenging moment. Seeing you get upset in your eyes yet smiling through is such an example. It’s not my demeanor in those moments unfortunately. It was good to see you out on the trail though!

Wheeling is the constant search for the next weakest link. Glad you had a crowd of amazing friends on hand to help out.
it is better to have wheeled and broke than never to have wheeled at all!😉
Morning Hollie! Love those sunglasses!
I’m honestly SHOCKED that you haven’t already broken that without having a brace. I use a Synergy brace on mine (back end too). Good luck and Happy Trails!
Even though the weld didn’t hold it was nice to see everyone helping. A little trick to help get you off the trail would be to put vice grips on the brake line on the opposite back tyre and steered it like when you probably did trials back in Scotland.
Hollie, it may be that MischiefMaker was wanting some attention since you have been working with Nessie and other vehicles. Tender loving care will make him all better.
When the going gets tough , the tough get rough. Thanks Hollie !
I vote for the Genright trackbar bracket. It has alot more surface area to weld. You have some great friends & the best videos!

Hollie, you handled it like a good and close friend to everyone, and all of them around you, Treated you, Circled ⭕️ around you, like the real true friends they are. 😊
Well that sucks! But expected. I broke last weekend rear axle on my sammy. Drove it home. You need to carry a couple of ratchet straps so you could do a trail repair. Done it before on a couple of TJs. Drove them home. Get MM fixed and see you on the trail. 😁👍
Ahhh so sorry Mischief Maker in in the hospital! Big hugs Holls! Hang in there...he'll be good as new soon! 🌺
That sucks it happened , knew that trail weld wasn't going to hold though LOL.
Oh man. I tore my track bar mount completely off the axle and was 4 hours away from home. Tried to strap it like you and it lasted 10 feet and broke the strap. Limped it back to the parking lot only able to turn slightly one way and a good Samaritan (now a friend) welded it up for me but it was sketchy at best. Made it home (highway speeds) as I followed another good Samaritan who was headed my way. Next trip I bought a trailer!!
That was nice of Guy Fieri to jump in and give a push at 2:38
Sorry to see Mischief Maker break like that. I'm proud of you Hollie, for keeping yourself positive. It's the Jeep Life after all right? Keep being positive. Chief will be back stronger. 😊
Love the way the group comes together to help! We need to see a walk around of Trail Haunters Bus, that is one cool rig.
Not the wheeling trip you wanted, but seeing people problem solve is just fascinating. Good work
Great video Hollie, thumbs up from Tasmania Australia 🤠👍🇦🇺
I noticed there also appears to be a crack in the weld where the round frame brace goes through the frame above the pitman arm. At least that’s what I thought I saw as you were panning back to the track bar bracket.
One of the best parts of wheeling, problem solving!
You made it back to the trailer so it’s a win for the day! Plus Tanner was out? I love that LJ build!
Try to hook a soft shackle around the hyme and a snatch block to the other side of the frame so the winch wants to pull it sideways tight against the frame. That will usually get you good enough to make it out without a welder.
I can see a new frame in Mischief's future!
You know that Matt from Matt's off road recovery would be happy to come help you out Right?
That hat at the first is what i been waiting for and sad thing is it isnt even on your merch page others are sold out all your stickers are still sold out sniff sniff Love all your videos and i keep watchin and voting for ya~~~

I'm no pro welder, but I hate flux core mig. And without a grinder those welds were not going to hold. But like you said it was very nice of them to have a $1000 portable welder onboard and try to get it patched to get off the trail. Someday I'll put a premier power stick welder in my truck. Some hot passes with 6011 would have held that bracket together.
Glad you got MM and you back to the shop safe..
Those are probably most of the creekin and squeekin weve ben hearing the ladt year or so, besides the dry rubbin spots

If only you knew some one with an off road wrecker! T he W orld's Largest Off Road Wrecker!
Who ya gonna call, Trail Mater 👍👍👍 Rorey can stick weld which has better penetration in the field from 12VDC battery current. That seems to be a common breaking point on factory welded points. Steering knuckles also weak.
Hey this stuff happens Hollie, just fix him up and go again. Good luck on fixing him.
Just as a precaution,I would make up some chains and D shackles that can be used to secure things if they happened again . Another way could be to close couple to your friends Jeep and carefully tow and steer your out that way ,tie the spare wheel up to the front of your Jeep as a buffer . So now mischief gets a new build front end ?
I finally know what your text was talking about. Lol

I hope you spent your Memorial Day weekend the same way I did 😝 (Well, not so much stuck, but having fun with friends and family!!).
Something that I think bears mentioning. If you stop right at hte 6 minute mark, you can see that much of the crack is very rusted. This means that this did not fail all at once, it's been failing for quite some time. The lesson learned here is that if you have a modified vehicle, or a vehicle that you are pushing beyond it's normal limits, you should be inspecting it regularly.
Matt, Rudy, Paul ,Robby and Rory, would have dropped what they were doing to come get you out of this mess 😅😅

Reason #1 never to go wheeling alone
Get the yeti steer smarts sector shaft brace. After it's welded back into place. It also reinforced the track bar bracket. Tighted up my steering a ton. It uses a bearing. On the sector shaft.
@MischiefMakerTV
Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure that was ever needed on the JK, but we do have a sector shaft brace on the way from Metalcloak for the giveaway JT & I’m hoping that will fox hire much the vehicle wanders on the highway. I’ve noticed that’s a major issue with JLs and JTs. Also, I’m not sure that solution was designed to work with the PAC Big Bore XD steering box, which has a much larger sector shaft. I think MischiefMaker needs a proper aftermarket track bar bracket that is made of 1/4” mild steel instead of the flimsy stock material & he’ll get one later this week (Wednesday, if everything else goes to plan) 😊

Can't wait to see what you use to fix MischiefMaker. Whatever you use will be better than stock. You wheel hard. You need all the extra support you can get.
You could have gave up and called Matt but you didn't you just kept moving and that's awesome . Maybe it's time to look into a premiere welder or pay a visit to Paul's cousin merlin and have him build you one I'm sure he'd love the visit.
She really is nothing but Mischief. Good luck, Hollie!

Not at all. It was awesome wheeling with uou
Awesome Walter made a cameo at 19 05!!!
Can't do what looked like tack welds to hold that. That's why Rory uses the stick. Lots more heat and penetration. For a MIG....you'd have to double pass and really work it in there (on a trail fix). Eventually....most things break.
If the welder had a welding helmet it would have held. The poor guys eyes are probably hurting just wearing sunglasses. The bus is cool. I made one years ago. A lot of metal in the buses. Need more area to weld track bar bracket to frame. Maybe make or buy one with more area where it connects to the frame to get a more solid weld.
As a welder! Those welds are cringe at best!

Buena aventura, me gustó el video, espero puedas arreglar el Jeep
i watch this when it first posted. watching the star into the welding box i sense you are still in trouble, when you buy a welder like that you need to burn a spool or 2 of wire and test and hammer and weld again its small and welds different you need to experience it be fore you hit the trail . have fun
You should have made a call to your friend with the world's largest off road wrecker, I think his name is Matt from Matt's Offroad Recovery.
The repairs never end with all of these toys 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Next time you have this problem, loop the winch around the frame and attach the winch to the broke track bar bracket
Should have ran the winch line from the right hand frame rail to the track rod bracket to hold it to the frame. Apparently that welder is for welding fenders back on after they've been torn off??
Wheeling is why I subscribed. I mostly skip the other stuff which is mostly talking anyway, but love your wheeling videos. I wish you quick permanent repairs. Lots of fatigue there. BTW, all track bars on all offroad vehicles should have a cross brace to the other frame rail. Then they don't break.
Call Matt with the big yellow wrecker. No man or lady stays behind. Thats what wheeling all about.
Cleanings and nutting & bolting regularly can help detect this type of thing. Granted, things break offroad. Play hard, inspect hard.
Time for full hydro Hollie!
I figured that weld would break. Just from the look of it. It was not hot enough and had no penetration to stick the two pieces of metal together. Flux core wire welding takes practice to be able to produce a good weld. And the was not one obvi
That really stinks Holly! Sorry you had a rough time of it. I'm sure you will get her back up and trailing in no time!
My first reaction would have been to reinforce the bracket with a strap or winchline to the opposite frame. That way, you could use minimal steering inputs to get back to the trailer. It looked like those were wire welds, and The Offroad Wrecker gang all use stick welders for trail repairs. Now we know the reason? Still, it's cool how everyone pitched in on the repair and the problem-solving. It's all part of the culture.
Tack stack welding a structural part, and in sunglasses no less. Yikes! You are a very kind person, but we all know you held back what you really wanted to say when you said “Those welds look… so good!” Haha
No call to matt 😂
Very good fix. Where did he get that welder? Have fun and be safe. Or maybe you should have called Matt. He owes you. And you get a t shirt. 😊

I’ll definitely call Matt next time. I felt guilty bugging him on a holiday weekend 😅. Plus there were all these Jeepers out on the mountain who were ready to help.
Would have stick welding with several series'd batteries been a better option?
Unfortunately breaks do happen when wheeling. You'll have him back as new in no time. I LOVE that toy hauler bus!
Poor Mischief Maker!😢
Oh No. MM is in need of some major work. Better check the other side might better replace while you have the front apart. Look o. The bright side atleast there was others there to help you out. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
I was watching that guy weld and was fairly certain it wasn't going to hold.
Where was Rory when you needed him? The mig didn't put enough heat into it to melt the base metal. It wasn't clean and looked like chicken poop.
Happy Fixing
you could have crossed strapped the front axle so it could not move side to side to get out.
