Agreed, I always go to Tim’s videos purely because he’s unbiased and actually talks about how the jets can be used and what they’re good at. I play CAS mostly, and Most channels will just be like “it can’t 1v1 an f16, doesn’t have enough missiles: ITS BAD” while flying a cas jet as an air superiority jet… lol

Clear and concise -- Tim is my go-to how-to.

They added a gunpod to it in the last update. It's mounted centerline, so it'll block you from using LGBs or the drop tank. But it has 600 rounds.

Thanks again Tim for once again giving us the most properly detailed video to inform us about the newest aircraft in War Thunder. These reviews are like those perfect haircuts that you only get once in a while but work very well.

Luckily, pretty shortly after you done editing the video, the Mirage 2000D R1 received a Strike Aircraft classification instead of the previous Fighter classification. Now, france mains can bring BOTH jets into ground RB in a single lineup!

There's something I find so satisfying about using the camera pod and guided missiles. Watching the missile's smoke trail get closer and closer to the target. Reminds me of something you'd see in a COD campaign or so.

im so happy the mirage 2000D is finally here, i had been asking for it since the 2000 C S5 was announced, and was very much needed to replace the obsolescent jaguar A as a cas jet for the French top tier lineup, with gaijin giving France so much love lately, here's hoping they give some love to the neglected light tank line of France

Tim, I'd just like to extend my thanks to you for your fantastic content with such quantity. I've been out of work for ~10 months (terrible riding accident RIP drz400sm) and you have given me something to look forward to throughout the week! It was a good video. And it makes me happy to see someone actually displaying a correct use of the targeting pod, such as, targeting, dropping, and running away. All the others are like "I need to stay straight on target, even if it means I will be less than 2km from a 2S6 or an ADATS.

As always, another good review and very complete. Keep up the good work Tims ;)

Hi Tim, good video as always. Have you consider giving more information about the HUD ? Specially with the new jets which give more information than previous planes and since I play almost exclusively EC sim learning how to take full advantage of what the HUD displays would be very helpful, thanks.

I love the D, it’s something France really needed

The radar in the game is incorrect. Just like the 2000N, the 2000D is equipped with the Antilope V radar. It s a ground mapping and following radar that allow it to perform low altitude penetration mainly with the use of automatic TFR. The radar is also joke about for its extremely poor AA performance. The crews often use the magic seeker instead of the radar to look for aircraft.

Another great review from one of my favorite WT content creators! I'm sure you've got a variety (pardon the pun) of projects in progress, but I'm still hoping you'll do the IAR 316B soon. Thanks for the awesome videos!

This channel is so bloody underrated

Another great review, thanks for the effort and level of detail you provide. It might be a little biased experience, but so far every plane I've played and watched the corresponding review to, I had the expected result. I mean, I've found your channel due to me looking up how to use the F-86K, since I had a hard time to get it to work and as I found out in your review about it, it's not an easy plane to use, especially at the BR of 9.3 it had back then. About your community poll about the background music, just scrap it, your reviews don't need it. I also think it is very irritating around the 4:55 section, maybe some really basic music works better than the music here. (The menu-theme from Race Driver GRID comes to my mind "Nathan Boddy - Vintage Warmer")

I had a poll asking about it a week or two ago - in future vids the BGM is a little under half the volume it is here.

While it's not the best jet, it has the best most awesome retrowave type skin that one could buy

Just for some story the mirage 2000 D was retreat in February 2022. He did he's last recon exercise in February, but it was used barely because France already can do all of that with the Rafale. 🇫🇷👍 And also all the custom weapons of mirage is really light compared to the reality 😅, for example even got canons pod. MICCA missile and bunch of other bombs and tanks, load out

MICA missiles, certain LGBs and certain gunpods only got compatibility on later versions of the mirage 2000R. The R2 and now the newest RMV modernization. The sources on the R1 gunpod are pretty circunstantial too.

The 2000D is still in service and will remain in it until at least 2030. You re mistaking it with the 2000N who did its last flight in the experimental squadron on February 22. The 2000D I is also the first variant who entered service in 1993. It does not have the GBU-22 nor 49 and neither does it carry the MICA or a gun pod. Those last 2 are part of the RMV (Rénovation Mi-Vie) of with the first 5 have been delivered as of the writing of this comment.

So at around 2:08 I saw you using the CCRP to bomb a base, which is cool, I like being able to do level bombing without changing flight attitude to use the CCIP or to dive bomb if I don't have it, but I've personally been having some trouble with it lately. It's not that the actual system doesn't work or that I can't designate targets with it; I can, but for the two main planes I use it with, the F-105D and the Jaguar GR1A, the bombs seem to overshoot most of the time, starting maybe a couple months ago. Now most of the time I use it it's on an EC map and it's because I can't be bothered to dive down from relatively high altitude, so I get that the aiming guides for bombs will become less accurate the higher you fly, but I also noticed at the timestamp that you didn't fully destroy the base. Idk what bomb weight you were using, so maybe they were just light bombs and they did all hit, but I was mostly wondering if you'd noticed this too.

I noticed it too - one of the bombs missed in the section you were talking about. In general, the CCRP is significantly less accurate at higher altitudes and higher speeds. "Good enough" if you're dropping a bit of overkill, but if you're dropping **exactly** just-enough to take out a base, one of the bombs might miss and leave you a sliver of leftover....

I like this desgin of the dual seat, canopy hump on this and the Su-17M4/Su-22's These neck humps near the cockpit merge is satisfying in the design department. I just hate the permanent fuel probe on any crafts, they should strive to make an internal probe or male-female design.

The only thing missing as far as I am concerned the only Thing missing are the guns. The ripping speed should also be higher than it is on the C since it's structure should be stronger.

It’s a strike aircraft, they changed it.

If you take the smaller GBUs you actually get 4 drops, and outside of scoring double kills, there’s no point to carrying the bigger bomb (they’re laser guided afterall, and a 250kg bomb landing ontop of the target will have the exact same effect as a 1 ton bomb landing ontop of the target), which is very much the standard for other top tier attackers. As for the conclusion, the bit where there are better CAS jets before the M2kD is wrong asf. The Mirage F1CT isn’t an actual top tier attacker, as it lacks guided air-to-ground weapons, the Mirage 5F only has 1 AS-30 and it’s the manually guided kind, and the Jaguar A before it does have the 2 AS-30Ls along with a laser pod, but it doesn’t have auto-tracking or thermals, and it also doesn’t have any guided bomb options ontop of the Nords, as well as worse flight perf overall. The Mirage 2000D is for certain the best ground attack jet France has, and if the problems with rendering targets on the laser pod gets adjusted, it could be a strong contender for the overall best CAS jet in the game.

There is no other French CAS that is better than the Mirage 2000D at the moment. I would rather take this aircraft than any other 10.3+ for CAS on the French Tree, matter of fact I would take this over any CAS on any tree. The Targeting Pod is a massive upgrade from the previous Jaguar A version and the FOV of it is insane, better than anything at top tier right now. It may only be gen 1 thermals but it is good enough to bomb targets from 8km+ high or shoot an AS-30L from 10km away.

Well that's one way to completely disintegrate a helicopter 5:49

I wonder how long will it take for Gajub to give it its real GBU bomb load 2xGBU-12 on the centerline, 2xGBU-12 on each inboard wing pylons and one under each of the four fuselage pylons(one of which has to be taken by the Tpod tldr its should have 9xGBU-12+2xMagic

Well this load out does not exist. No GBU-12 can be taken under the wings, on the the BGL-1000 and AS-30L. As for the fuselage pylone, they can’t take the GBUs either. Only the 2000D RMV witch is currently being delivered to the forces can, and only on the front fuselage. Otherwise you have to stick to the 2 centerline. The only other french mirage that can take the GBU-12 on the forward fuselage points is the 2000N but this one does not have any TGP.

But the question is, can this plane fly over 4,125 miles from France to the Horn of Africa and deliver a clear satellite image?

Tim shooting planes with AS-30L & Helicopter with BGL-1000 shows that Mirage 2000D R1 isn't the worst plane in top tier in this update, unlike the extra suffering & the worst plane ever added Tornado IDS, even when Mirage 2000D R1 has no gun, thus improving its worth at top tier! & just like any other french jets in War Thunder having a whopping 2 AAM, which Tornado IDSs have absolutely no air-to-air capability. definitely too OP it should've been at 11.7, & Tornado IDS needs to go down to 9.7 cuz its a strike aircraft unlike Mirage 2000D R1

Apart from the (arguably) missing gunpod options regarding the AA role, what stops the 2000D from mounting the same AA missiles as the 2000C? After all it has the same radar and missile rails on the wings right?

The 2000D only is now revieving the gun pod with the RMV update. As for the missiles, it can’t because it don’t have the wireing and the radar is ring in WT. the 2000D has a Antilope V radar that s specialize in terrain following and ground mapping. It can’t guide any missile.

@@spartan-ml7nk I knew about the gunpod in te RMV upgrade (CC422 if I'm not wrong), but I meant both the CC420 (already in game with the Mirage V and F1) and the CC630, both of which are mentioned in some weaponry sources and manuals for the Mirage 2000C and B. There are few reasons to think the 2000D was incompatible with those pods, but at the same time not much evidence to back it, that's why I said it's arguable

im so triggered the Mirage was released in between big patches and didnt get a proper trailer... so disrespectful to one of the best 4th gen fighters in the world

Idk if anyone will see this but if so perhaps someone could offer advice. I am grinding the French tree and am wondering if I should talisman the Jaguar and use it to get to the mirage 2K or if I should buy the premium F1c 200, I know it isn’t very good but I would use it as a bomber to grind out the rp. Anyone know which would be faster/less painful?

It will really boil down to which plane you can consistently score more RP-per-hour with.
