Miradry -Permanent cure for underarm sweating

Ғылым және технология

Miradry is a permanent treatment for sweaty and smelly underarms. Botox works well, however miraDry is permanent. In Australia, Botox is subsidised by Medicare, and patients only pay $440 out of pocket- cheaper than the cost price of a vial of Botox. MiraDry is not subsidised by Medicare, and costs 9 times more than one treatment of Botox. Dr Davin Lim was the very first doctor in Australia to perform miraDry and has co-published International papers on miraDry for excessive underarm sweating. Davin Lim formed SweatFree in 2011- one of the World’s best portals for information on excessive sweating.
How does this treatment work?
miraDry is the very latet in anti-sweating treatments for axillary hyperhidrosis (sweaty armpits). Unlike Botox injections, this treatment is PERMANENT, yes, you will have a permanent sweat reduction of up to 990 % following two treatment cycles. Dr Davin Lim explains this procedure and how it works-‘ miraDry uses safe, electromagnetic energy that is directed to the underarm sweat glands. This energy is converted to heat, and the area is heated to a precise temperature of 67 degrees. This destroys the eccrine units (sweat glands) permanently. A cool applicator protects the upper layers of the skin, whilst local anaesthetic to the area makes this procedure comfortable and well tolerated. Because your body contains millions of eccrine units, treating your armpits will only eliminate 2% of your sweat glands- so you do not need to worry about heat stroke or compensatory/ rebound sweating.
How long does the miraDry procedure take?
Treatment takes between 45 minutes to just over an hour, depending on the size of the armpit. Remember, you will require two treatments of miraDry spaced 3 months apart for optimal outcomes.
How long will it take to recover after miraDry?
Most people can get back to activities within a day or two of the procedure- according to miraDry company guidelines, however Dr Davin Lim has first hand experience and makes this statement -‘most patients are back to normal within the 72 hours, however during the first few days, the armpits maybe swollen and tender.
How does miraDry differ from Botox injections for underarm sweating?
miraDry is a permanent solution whilst Botox is temporary. Once patients complete their miraDry treatment, they will achieve sweat reduction of up to 80% for life! Botox is an excellent treatment for excessive sweating, but this needs to be repeated every 4-6 months for life. In most cases both work equally well, however gives you permanent sweat reduction, and one gives you temporary sweat reduction.
Can miraDry decrease excessive body odor?
Yes it can. This is because miraDry destroys the apocrine glands that are implicated in causing BO.
Now what should I get- Botox or miraDry for sweaty underarms?
The choice comes down to 2 factors- firstly, if you are after a permanent treatment for your underarm sweating- the answer is miraDry. If you want a temporary solution that works very well, AND at an affordable price point to everyone- the choice is Botox. If I can give you a guide-
• If you had Botox before and the treatment last 8-12 months- stick with Botox. You will save heaps, as the price of miraDry should go down within the next 5 years. Botox is only 420 dollars out of pocket, and this is repeated possibly once a year.
• OK, if you are at the other extreme, and Botox only last 3 -4 months, get miraDry. What you spend on Botox for 3 years, you will get back on your miraDry treatments. We offer payment plans for miraDry to help patients financially.

Botox would cost much more money overtime. Miradry is likely a better option for those on a budget. In addition, a 70% sweat reduction doesn't sound half bad at all. Dermatologists in the states claim that underarm Botox would cost $1000 per treatment twice a year. However, the Miradry procedure is a treatment that costs approximately $2000, and most only need one treatment. I think that I'd go with Miradry over the Botox. Plus, longitudinal exposure to the Botulinum toxin overtime is probably not a good idea.

So for my entire adult life I have never been comfortable wearing anything with sleeves. Sweat stains were my biggest fear. I have tried everything but the fear of the chemicals in those products was too great. Enter dermadry. I found the system really intimidating the first time. But it’s so easy and virtually painless. I’m using it once a week and I’d say I have noticed an incredible improvement. I can’t wait for fall to see if I can wear T-shirts’ and sweaters without sweating through everything.

Please reply about the temperature. I'm doing some research on 1mhz ultrasound on feet sweat glands. If it takes 67 degrees to kill a gland. The heating rate of 1mhz is 0.2 degrees Celsius per min per w/cm squared or 0.36F. Which should equal about 5 minutes per treatment spot. If 67 degrees is indeed Celsius because its preferred scale in Australia then that equals 152.6 F

Surgeon told me they will return, I’m still sweating- I paid loads of money only to get pain trips to the hospital. I don’t even want to talk about the onion smell that comes with it 🤦🏻‍♀️ All these problems i dint face before stupid miradry. PS you won’t see the problems right away that MiraDry causes - when I complaint to the company my problems they dismissed me completely. I regret so much because they were quick to take my money.

Ok because i use to suffer with a lot of excess sweating huge patches, but seems to of eased off and is now just what seems more potent sweat I'd shower at least twice a day sometimes after shower would still notice a sweaty smell .. I receive botox every couple of months which is great but not permanent I'm looking for something more long lasting .. Do you think if I was to get this procedure there would be a considerable improvement?

  • @mamiix2

    @mamiix2

    8 жыл бұрын

you may not sweat a lot but you do sweat. the onion smell is from bacteria, if you have suddenly became obese or have been stressed out then that could cause the sweating. this is called secondary hyperhydrosis , this mira dry procedure costs a lot but it would be very worth it to not be embarrassed by something that you can't control.

Brookwest, that question would be best answered by the good Doctor, but what types of things have you tried so far? Maybe start with the simplest changes. You could try an animal product free, plant based diet (vegan) that is low in fat, with also avoiding completely or using only the smallest amounts possible of onions and garlic. You could also get some organic alcohol (The kind that is made from foods like corn and is actually drinkable. Buy it online. It's commonly used in making homeopathics and organic flavorings ) and once a day, use the alcohol on a 100% cotton wipe pad (flat type). Gently wipe your underarms with it BEFORE you get in the shower or shave. Allow it to dry for a minute before your shower. Then wash your armpits with soap as usual. See if that helps. Vegan diets supposedly reduce body odors and the once a day alcohol wipe will help control odor causing bacteria. When I went vegan I noticed my deodorants worked better, worked longer and I've done the once a day alcohol wipe thing for years with good results. Also, wash all your shirts TWICE to make sure that the laundry detergent you are using is completely removing any left over body odors from your clothes. Good luck and I hope the Doctor addresses your question.

I tried many things, including commercial deodorants, bathing, soap, but the only substance that helped is applying baking soda (wet it with a little water) on your armpits after showering. It is not permanent, so you have to keep doing it each time you shower. It really gets rid of all my body odour!!! No smell at all.

I find it funny when I hear people say they sweat a lot haha I actually drip from under my arms yes drip like a faucet.. it runs down my body and arms 24 hrs a day ... I never smell thank god but it changes how you live your life and what you wear ... people stop saying you sweat a lot if your underarms get a little wet that just sweating like a human is supposed too ... In America Botox for sweat glands is very expensive and the surgery is even more expensive so your left with proscription antiperspirants and yes they have worked in the past but my body grows out of it within 2 months ... But for all the people that have this problem the real bitch is your body is going to sweat so if it stops under your arms you will sweat other places like the crack of your ass or hands or head or bitch tits .. So I’ve learned to live with under arm sweat but I believe it’s time for surgery and just deal with sweat other places as they come ...

There are no complications! They just destroy sweat glands that are producing extra sweat for no reason. The sweating reduces to 80% so the treatment does not stop sweating at all. It significantly reduces it to a level which is needed by the human body. Its FDA approved btw!

I think that miradry might reduce sweating more than just 70% in some patients it might not be able to stop sweating 100% but thats ok because people are suppose to sweat underarms botox might cause breast cancer everyones body is different in some patients it might turn the sweat off 90% not a proffessional but this is just my opinion
