    Im doing iontoforesis for my severe palmar hyperhidrosis and im doing it now for like 7 years now but for me its a hassle. In time i got used to the highest output of the device i use and i need the max settings to get relief, some peeps dont need many sessions a week but i need like 4 sessions each of 30 minutes a week to be dry but after all this years im just tired to do them. The smallest cuts in my hand or a scratch make the session impossible because of pain and burns in that area that i get from the current. I always get a little cuts (maybe so small invisible to the eye) and i need to seal that little wound, and im using super glue to seal them. My life was hard because of palmar hyperhidrosis, when i was kid at school my notebooks was a mess, i didnt liked to write, i didnt even get to end my high school. There are a few people asking some questions in the comment section but why no one reply to them if you care and want to rise awareness?

    Two questions. Can the MiraDry tool be used on other body parts. My armpits aren't that bad, however, I suffer from excess sweating from under the breast/pec area and back of the thighs? Would love to see a reduction in those areas if possible... Secondly, will other sweat glands make up for the change and increase production after the procedure?

    I have been reading on recovery forms that after a year post treatment a lot of folks have a return to pre-treatment sweat levels or even worse sweating. How is this possible/so frequently reported if it's supposed to be a permanent treatment?

  • @bigfirepop

    @bigfirepop

    2 жыл бұрын

    Perhaps you're referring to ETS - this is a surgery that I had done and have experienced absolutely SEVERE compensatory sweating. I'm thinking of having it reversed but fear that may make things even worse to be honest.. I'm looking into MiraDry also at this point and find that there is only a slight return in sweating if the procedure is done at levels 3 however can be reduced further with a second or even third treatment, bringing reduction of armpit sweat to around 90-95%.. From what I'm reading, you'll essentially want to find a doctor who is willing to run the device at level 5 and make at least TWO passes during the first treatment. It should be agreed (in writing) that further treatments will be made at no-cost if they fail to reduce your sweating.

    @@bigfirepop so sorry to hear that happened :( unfortunately no I do mean Miradry. If you look a HH forums on Reddit, youtude etc, about half the folks on there report this. Trying to understand how it's possible or how common this is.

    @@21meema yes well all I can say is I wish there was a law that prevented such an invasive surgery (ETS) to be performed on a 14 year old, even with parental consent.. I love my parents dearly but they were not the type to research things well or bother to really understand all risks.. They did just want to get me help because they knew the social stigma I was encountering and would encounter further as I grew older to have sweaty hands and feat. Now it's sweaty hands, feet, torso, mid section, buttox, groin, facial, neck, basically my entire body is one big sweat machine. Ive found that mild sun tanning and exercise helps to drain and fatigue the glands well enough, among other things. Ive not found any relief from anticholinergics or otherwise and I won't allow myself to be a zombie with benzos or a potential victim of botox... Anyways.. If I can even quell one whole area, such as the armpits, with MiraDry then that would feel like such a great relief to me. I did read into the reddit postings and they all seem to confirm what other research I found, which is to ensure high level (5) application with at least two passes- otherwise you will need at least two whole treatments. And not to toot my own horn but I'm a researcher by nature and from my understanding of the technology it would make sense that this would likely be a very permanent solution if done right. My concerns are more with time it takes to heal from the procedure.. I'd also love to find someone willing to test this on hands/feet. at least feet. My hands are OK sometimes. It's everything else that has gotten out of control after the ETS surgery.

  • @bigfirepop

    @bigfirepop

    2 жыл бұрын

    I also suffer severe cranial / facial sweating as well as underarm and mid/lower torso sweating.. Also palms and feet. I got the surgery to clamp nerves back when I was 14 and I'm now 32 .. it was only a palms / feet issue back then and doctors convinced my parents that the surgery is what I should do after antiperspirants did not work.. within a few short years after surgery, all the other sweating started. I'm seriously so fed up with it. I went back to the specialist who did the surgery and he suggested I ingest anticholinergic medications (of course prescriptions...) .. Tried that. Got severe dry mouth but that's about it. Also tended to make me very impulsive in decision making, which I found weird and did not enjoy. Did not help very much with sweating though. I'm 100% against botox. No reason to take such severe risks imo. I've changed diets and continue with exercise which I think has helped but it's all so much to deal with.. It has cost me so many relationships, both business and with potential partners. Some days are worse than others. Both physically and mentally. This is such a wearing problem to have.

    You can try RF microneedling for facial sweating, but there is no guarantee that this will help permanently. It all depends on the number of procedures, the correct settings and the depth of the needles. Research is currently underway on how microneedling can help. But I personally spoke with a man who had it done on his forehead and face and he reported a decrease in sweating, which still persists (though not a complete cure). True, he is not sure if the depth of the needles was chosen correctly, since he did it in a clinic where he was used only for lifting of face.

    Thanks for reaching out. To start, we would suggest making an appointment with a healthcare provider who has experience with hyperhidrosis so that he or she can rule out any potential causes to your sweating (such as a separate pre-existing medical condition or the side-effect of a medication you may be taking) then make a diagnosis (there are two types - primary focal hyperhidrosis and secondary generalized hyperhidrosis) and, finally, work with you to find a treatment plan that is suitable for your situation. Please feel free to use our Clinician Finder at SweatHelp.org/Search to find a hyperhidrosis-aware healthcare professional. And, see our content about the two types of hyperhidrosis: www.sweathelp.org/home/types-of-hyperhidrosis.html. There are several treatments for hyperhidrosis that you can read about here: SweatHelp.org/Treatments. We hope this helps. Please contact us with any questions.

    To get optimal results from the miraDry treatment, two treatments are performed that are spaced about 2-3 months apart. If sweat is still an issue after the second treatment, the practitioner can do a starch iodine test to show any areas that may still be producing sweat and a third treatment may be offered (if appropriate) to target any areas that are still producing sweat. Be sure to call your practitioner's office to discuss further and ask about next steps. Good Luck!
