Minuet in G major // CHRISTIAN PETZOLD

Музыка

I thought this piece was composed by J.S. Bach, but multiple sources now confirm that it's actually written by Christian Petzold.

Petzold also composed the lesser-known Minuet in G Minor, another beautiful piece that shares many similar motifs with its Major counterpart. These compositions were simply copied to the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach... So it's time we give credit to the original composer!
Anyway, isn't it refreshing to see some less difficult pieces every now and then?

OMG! I remember playing this as a seven year old, I also remember my mom withholding my TV rights until I practiced this, and oh what pride I felt when I finally got the left and right hand together, and played it correctly. Now, I haven't played the piano in years due to work, but one day, when I have time, I'll play this again.

This is the piece that taught me how to play right and left hand together. I learnt it over one year ago when I bought my first keyboard and today I have a full size digital piano on which I practise Chopin's music. Seeing this video and hearing this piece again was amazing, thanks!

B 51 HTM It’s pretty much famous for being a great gateway piece. It’s usually a grade 2 piece but can be played in very little time as it uses the right and left hand simultaneously but not constantly.

For many pianists, this is probably the first famous / "classical" (small C!) piece they learn (or at least, one of...), probably followed a few months later by being presented with the book of Muzio Clementi's Op. 36 Sonatinas (and working through that, they'll eventually reach the rondo of No. 5 and think "that sounds familiar - and if the tempo's slowed down a lot, kinda groovy...")

Ornamentation in baroque music is a optional thing, in the original manuscript they are not written and they used the ornaments as they like, today's sheet music of that piece that has the ornaments written in it is only one interpretation. Also the pianist in the video do used ornaments but in different locations, it was his interpretation and was actually awesome, never thought I would hear such a different interpretation of that piece.
