Minnesota Farmer Panel on Cover Crops

Ғылым және технология

This video features a local farm panel discussing experiences with cover crops and no-till during the "Building Profits and Soil Health Workshop" on January 23, 2019, in Faribault, Minnesota. The local farm panel featured Charlie Radman of Randolph, Jared Luhman of Goodhue, and Matt Alford of Blue Earth. Radman grows corn and soybeans in southern Dakota County and has been using cover crops since 2013. He has also practiced no-till for eleven years. Luham and his father raise beef, hay, pasture, cover crops (small grains & summer annuals), organic corn and edible black beans. He has been using practices like cover crop & mob grazing, stockpiling forage for winter grazing and trying out the roller-crimper to improve his soil, suppress weeds and turn a profit. Alford and his family raise corn, soybeans and cover crops, in Faribault County. He interseeds a multi-species mix into standing corn, & fall plants a hairy vetch-triticale mix following soybeans.
