Your video is a life-saver! My cable came off the rubber grooved bushing in the head and I lifted it up off the sprocket it was meshed with and changed up the indexing when I tried (and failed) to get the cable back on when I was on the water. Looks like the top barrel hole on the grooved rubber bushing is at 4 o'clock and the lower barrel hole is at 3 o'clock when the motor is pointed straight ahead.

Can the shaft on a cable driven trolling motor be shortened?

Would have been easier to push the cable through if you’d put some Dawn (dishwashing detergent) on the new cable.

Great idea. I found plenty of space in the sleeve but the end was the issue. It was all about removing the boot.
