    Very Well done. We ( married couple 70s) have visited over 90 countries - and more to come - with a similar set up including using the Farpoint 40 and Osprey Daylite Plus. 8 kg in main and 3 kg in daypack. Since we want to have capability of not being noticeable in a 5 star location we confine ourselves to having black tops and pants and our walking shoes are all black. Easy to maintain clean and a classic look that goes anywhere. We do not look completely out of place anywhere. We are also big fans of merino wool and use that wherever possible. We also carry a. complete medical kit knowing it is inevitable to get sick i.e. stuff we are famikiar with in cold meds; ibuprofen; immodium; tums etc.

    Cheers, Don! Yeah it seems they’ve gone pretty minimal on the organisation of the bag. I’ve found this to be it’s best and worst feature… only having the main compartment, laptop sleeve and tiny top zip pocket means there’s nowhere to conveniently stow small items you want to get to easily. However, this means the main compartment is really spacious and I can fit more stuff with my own packing cubes. Bit of a trade off but works for me since I always carry my waist pack across my chest for smaller items. Paddy Pallin in Perth is a great store and I’m there often! Safe travels

    Good video! However, take into account that the Farpoint 40 is too big as a carry on in most, if not all, the European low cost airlines like Ryanair,Easyjet, etc. One of the problem s is that it has a rigid frame. Also notice that many airlines limit the weight of the pack and not only the size. Airlines are more strict in Europe than in the US, but ticket prices are much lower as well. Good look with the trip!

    Is that your laptop under the packing cube at 11:06? Why is it not in the laptop compartment? This bag fits so much I was wondering if it could fit multiclimate trips like Peru for the hot amazon and cold mountains, seems like it can :D I wish the ID pocket on the flap that goes over the shoulder and waist strap was closeable, would be a perfect place for tha airtag. How come your laptop compartment has 2 lockable zips and mine that just arrived today has only 1 zip..

    We’ve taken 8 Ryanair flights and have never had our bags weighed and we’ve only seen a scale once at the gate. They don’t seem to look twice at the bag even when it’s full and weighing over 13kgs, probably because it’s a backpack. When the Farpoint 40 is completely full it will still easily fit in the Ryanair overhead storage so I’d say you’ll be just fine on Ryanair if you get the cabin baggage option on your flights. Also if you’re worried about weight, you can bring a collapsible backpack that is ‘personal item’ size, and put all your heavy stuff in that bag as they don’t have a weight limit for personal items. Hope this helps!

    Love this bag. I have an older version from a few years ago. Glad to see they moved the laptop pocket to the back. In the older version it's in the front and doesn't provide protection. Something I would add to the list is a pair of earplugs for sleeping.

    13Kg fully loaded? What happens if you fly with an airline that has a 7-10Kg weight limit? Also, what about bringing grooming tools that are prohibited to carry-on? Like scissors and tweezers?

  • @BeforeWeExpire

    @BeforeWeExpire

    3 ай бұрын

    We mostly travelled with Ryanair who allows 10kg overhead bags and a personal item bag which is no weight limit. As for prohibited items, you’ll need a check on bag for them otherwise you can check the guidelines on things like scissors as you can still carry small ones

    I liked having the foldable bag as most of the time I didn’t need to worry about weight limits and could easily fit all of my belongings into one bag. Having the 55l would have meant I would always be carrying two bags

    I love the Farpoint so far and would definitely choose it again. From what I’ve seen about the Sojourn Porter 46 - it looks like a Farpoint 40 with more packing compartments, thicker sidewalls for protection and a less supportive backpack frame. So I guess it really depends on your preference. I love the simplicity of the Farpoint 40 and the harness is unreal but you might find the porter more suited to you :)

    Ryanair allows you to book a cabin bag (10kg) and a small personal item bag for a small fee. So I just stick to those limits

    With Ryanair you get a small personal item and a overhead bag up to 10kg. So I’ve had no issues with weight limits with them. They also never way cabin baggage so weight limits are not as much of an issue as making sure the bag fits into the overhead storage
