    A lovely video, thank you! Swapping foaming cleanser for the oil cleansing method completely changed my life! I didn't heal my severe adult acne until I stopped using an organic, foaming cleanser at age 33. I am now in my 40s and just use grapeseed oil to cleanse and then rose water to hydrate and marula oil to lock in the moisture. I have saved so much money getting out of the 'beauty' matrix and my skin looks great! 🦋

    An Austrian friend of my mother's used Vitamin E oil for decades, and her skin is amazing. I understand that genetics, diet, stress, etc. shows in our skin, but the Vitamin E oil seems to be a miracle elixir. I love that you use Nutrition Facts for information. I know that many who opt for natural beauty turn to the EWG, however, there seems to be some question about the group's transparency, etc. I still use store-bought skin care, but I love watching videos about simple and natural beauty routines. Your skin is gorgeous!

    Maybe Vitamin E oil works then!! Haha, I sure hope so, since I still use it twice a day... Yay! I love NutritionFacts. I think it is such a great resource because one can just look at the videos, or geek out and read the studies in depth! I use EWG as a resource, but as you say, I do not think it is the perfect resource. That is why I try to research specific products, but preferably avoid them altogether - by for example using oils. The one product I do use is sunscreen. Thank you so much! My skin fluctuates a bit during my period, but otherwise it stays pretty stable. Kale and dark leafy greens has really helped my skin!

    So based on the limited knowledge I have of skincare- olive oil and coconut oil can be comedogenic so it clogs your pores. If you find that you’re breaking out a lot I would suggest using something different like jojoba oil. A lot of skincare professionals recommend a super simple routine- cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Good Molecules and Inkey List have very affordable simple skincare lines that are cruelty free- that’s what I use and my skin is pretty good. Also it looks like you have wavy hair- I just want to suggest scrunching your hair after you wash it (I flip my hair upside down when I do it) and a microfiber towel before letting it air dry. I know you don’t use gel or mousse but it’s helped my hair a lot. To break up the crunch from the products I use a spray bottle with some water and scrunch some more after my hair has dried.

  • @SagaJohanna

    @SagaJohanna

    I only use coconut on my body, since it’s too clogging for my face :) But I find olive oil works great for me! As far as I know it has the same comedogenic rate as Jojoba oil! I used to try to get my hair curly when I was younger but now it’s just too long 😂 I wouldn’t use a microfiber cloth since it’s made from plastic, but I do air dry my hair up sometimes to get nice waves! Thank you 🥰

    Absolutly love natural beauty too. 👍I can suggest a apple vinegar rinse for the hair if the scalp is feeling itchy. A cool side effect is, that the hair gets super shiny too. A linseed gel (30g+1l water cooked for 5 min and then simmered for 20min) is amazing as a hair mask, just leave it on for 30-60min. For Acne I like to use "Heilerde" which is a specific kind of clay (useable for fungal-acne too) and kamille tea for skin irritations.

    I usually use European and Asian chemical sunscreens because of sensitivities I have with US chemical sunscreens and many physical ones, but I used to exclusively use mineral ones and suffer through the white cast. I actually found that setting a mineral sunscreen with a tinted face powder would give a very nice finish and tone down any white cast.

    I use coconut oil as a body lotion and for my hands a lot. Especially during the Swedish winter time. Tea tree oil is great! And it also smells very nice. For my hair I’m trying the Aleppo soap bar. So far so good. Sunscreen is very important. I use it all 12 months. Although I have a darker complexion than my family, more like olive, I’m very careful about my face. I actually got too tanned once that I looked like a lobster and pretty much destroyed my skin. So I did learn a lesson being a stupid 20 yrs old. Your skin is beautiful and glowing. You don’t need makeup. Pure natural beauty. I’ve never really been into makeup. I use it sometimes but very little. Most of the time not at all. Too lazy. 😄🙂🌸💗

    @@SagaJohanna I'm actually Asian (adopted from Korea in the 70's, came to my Swedish parents when I was about 3 month old) but here's the funny thing. My hair isn't Asian. It's thin, wavy to curly and has never been completely black. It's a miz of somewhat black, brownish with red in it. However, I started going grey around 30 yrs old and that was pretty much the last time I saw my real hair colour. I've coloured it so much that now it's damaged of course. My kids want me to do a DNA-test because they reckon I'm not a 100% Asian. I don't think so either. Anyways, I tried different shampoo bars and so far, the only one that's actually worked for me is Aleppo soap bar. But (there's always a but isn't there Hahaha!), I still have to find a really good conditioner bar so the vinegar plus water rinse isn't really working for me. Still looking for the conditioner bar. I'll tell you when I've found it! :) :DDDDD

For body i just use coconut+ olive+ almond oil (all bio), still in the shower. I dont use shampoo, just rye and oat flour. For my deodorant: coconut oil and lavander. My skin and hair are awesome!! Oh in the summer i use olive oil (10%), almond oil (60%) and jojoba oil (30%) for my face, just because i can get oily ;) but they work in a terrific way!!

Question about cleaning the glass bottles… do you only pour a bit of say the e or olive oil so you can soak the glass bottle? Do you soak the bottles? How often? Thanks so much! Thank you 🥰 I try to also avoid essential oils since they are very strong. Only use tea tree sometimes! I boil the bottles about once a month. So I buy for example a bottle of oil from the grocery store, then I use that to refill my pump bottles for a few times. After about 1-2 months I clean out my bottles before I refill it again. The vitamin e is bought oil so I get a new bottle every time I buy it. Hope this makes sense 🤍😅

    Back when I was in college, I was also under the impression that the vegan lifestyle was the most natural way to go. But as I’ve investigated further and experimented, I’ve learned that sometimes, they’re not exactly right lol For instance, petroleum jelly is often labeled a scary toxic ingredient and most people believe it’s some synthetic chemical. When in reality it’s as natural as natural can get lol It is a byproduct of the crude oil industry but was first discovered and used topically by native Americans as a skin protectant. Perhaps modern day extraction methods pose a risk to environmental health but the petroleum jelly itself is inert. This is why I still use products like Aquaphor that contain petroleum jelly within my minimalist AND natural (yes it still qualifies as natural) skincare routine. Also this may be a debatable issue but from my experience, I’ve seen more women who are more health conscious than men, therefore corporations push for «healthier» products to women. As opposed to men who corporations literally push 3-1 shampoo/conditioner/body wash chemical/preservative-filled detergents in their skincare routine lol Same with men’s deodorants and moisturizers. They know men don’t really care so we’re offered the cheapest and crappiest stuff lol

    I would like to just use a simple, natural oil on my body….however, I don’t understand when people say they use it on their body. Any oil is so greasy and I usually need it after a shower and it doesn’t soak in enough before I need to put on clothes. I don’t want the oil all over my clothes. Especially olive oil because it is usually at least a little ‘yellowish’ in color. Any tips would be helpful.

  • @SagaJohanna

    Maybe it depends on our skin types? I find that if I put olive oil on my skin after I shower, not too much though, it's enough to not stain any of my linen - and I use only white linens. However, my husband stains the bedding by sweating at night, he's a hot sleeper lol (with or without oil). I put way more on my face, but since I lie on my back it sinks in before I go to bed. I know sesame oil counts as a "dry oil" so maybe that would work? That's what has been traditionally used in India as well. I just find the scent way to strong. But I do know what you mean, if I put it on before my clothes they can get stained, so I usually wait 5-10 minutes, and only put on really enough to not leave the skin "dry".

    You have beautiful skin, but that is more often to do with your genes.I love the idea of minimilist beauty. I have to say though that if you only get a few spots its not acne. Acne is when you have pustules, pimples and blackheads over most of your face. I know this because I had severe, and I mean severe acne for years. I always looked after my skin but still had acne and I had to see a dermatologist and have the strongest medication. I would have loved to have only had a few spots. Now I am older I have to live with the acne scars.
