Minimalist Backpack - Travel Hacks For a Great Trip
Minimalism as a lifestyle can be extended to trips, and how you prepare for them. Thus our backpack can follow such guidelines. Be your trip short or long, what you carry with you is of the utmost importance.
On this video I'll show how to prepare you backpack to carry only the essentials, which brings the benefit of freedom when you're travelling.
As mentioned, the key point is to always questions yourself "is this essential?". If not, then it should not come along. For my 28 days backpacking trip to Europe I only took with me three outfits (counting the one I was wearing). If you're doing the same, this means that you should take special attention when choosing said outfits. Their fabric should be good, with a special consideration to the time needed to dry. Also, basic looks are nice, since they allow you the possibility to be relatively well dressed in every situation.
It's not because you're travelling that you can't look reasonably presentable.
The other things will depend on your needs, and where you're travelling. If you're not going to stay in a hotel, a towel is a must have. I took with me a face one, since it's smaller. Gadgets that you enjoy are also an important thing to carry.
To be able to travel with such a limited amount of things is something nice, and I myself am proud of being able to do it. This, plus the fact that it was genuinely fun.

Though my channel is not focused on minimalism, please feel free to check out my content. It's about acting scenes with a... philosophical touch? Have a nice day!
Going on my first trip to Europe soon, I made up my mind from the start to just take a backpack. It makes the most sense.

You're gonna love it man! The freedom a single backpack gives is just amazing!
This is great! Your voice is so calming, plus I am loving the music
The main reason that I always take backpack/carryon only is because airlines/airports constantly lose people's luggage! I went through that once, and learned my lesson.

That's another reason! I'm lucky that none of my luggage was lost, but once they broke one. It entered the airplane just fine, but when I got it, it wasn't rolling anymore. I wonder how barbaric they had to be to make that kind of damage...
My husband and I always take our backpacks/rucksacks with us on weekends away and holidays (vacations) in Europe. It's much easier than dragging suitcases around - especially if I also need to take my instrument with me. I'm a pianist and I like to take my portable keyboard on holiday with me. The thing is that we tend not to fly, though. We live in England, so we can take the ferry or even the railway to destinations in Europe. When we visit America, we will have to take the plane, of course. I'm a bit of a nervous flyer, but I can't pass up the opportunity to see California. 🙂

It's so comfortable not having to carry so many things, once you get used to it is one of the best ways. England is great, I love it. Have some fond memories there, and indeed the transportation systems is just awesome. You can count on it and be fine. I've never been to the United States, though I definitely want to go.
*Essential*
Very nice tips, thank you very much! Almost always I finish taking a lot of things that in the end I will not use. Maybe to my next trip I will try to be so minimalist as you were! Wish me luck! :D

You're welcome! And I know the feeling, I used to do it too. But taking only the essentials can be quite rewarding in the end. Good luck!
I backpacked new Zealand with a small backpack that size but I also brought another decent size bag and wish I hadn’t. I carried it there whole trip and what people don’t often think about on extended trips is that youre also carrying food so remember youre going to have a food baggy to carry too haha

Though carrying more stuff is always nice, the burden to keep taking one big bag from one place to the other can feel clunky. About carrying food, when I did this trip I would leave non important stuff on the place I was sleeping and open space on my bag to carry some sandwiches I prepared. hehehe
I'm totally hooked on this vlog! 🎬 Quick question, have you had a chance to try out the new Nomadlane V4 Bento Bag? It looks like a versatile and stylish travel companion! 🌟🌴

Hey, Francine! Did a look on this bag and indeed it looks very versatile. The only thing I would point out is that it seems you either carry it in one hand or you use a single strap to put it on your back. I personally don't find single straps to be that comfortable, specially to carry stuff all day long, but if you're ok with it, I think the bag looks pretty good.
I like anything minimalist
When you pack light depending on your clothes size you can buy sn outfit when needed.

Hey, thank you!
I love watching minimalist packing vids, and yours is great! I promised myself I'd never check another bag again and I have kept that promise. But I'm overpacking my CarryOn all the time. Hopefully soon I will be able to minimize my belongings. I'll try the 3 outfits, thanks for the suggestion.

I too had a thing for backpacks before, but I'd say I'm better now. The three outfits are quite interesting, tell me later how was your experience.

@@Nossaki I will say that on my last trip for 7 days back in June I packed 7 tops, a thin sweater, three bottoms and a dress. I ended up only wearing my travel outfit everyday and wearing 2 of the shirts that I packed. I wore pajamas at night. I was the most comfortable in the travel outfit anyway so it ended up working out great for me. Now I know I could survive with only 3 outfits and be fine.😊 I've never done that before either.

In the past, I've been guilty of carrying too many clothes with me too. This trip to Europe was my first one with such a little amount, and it was great! We usually carry more stuff thinking that some situation might show and that we should be prepared, but most of the time those situations never happen, and we end up just dragging weight with us. 😄
My favourite packing video ♥️🌸

Of course you can! There's just a small sacrifice fashion wise and... well, everything else. But the freedom you get pays off. haha
Yep. I can squeeze my belongings into 1 medium pack.

Hey Nossaki! Could you tell me what brand your backpack is from? best regards from the netherlands!! :)
@Nossaki

Hey! Unfortunately there's no brand. It's a generic one I bought for something like 18 dollars. It looks good but it's kind fragile! And btw, Netherlands seems awesome! Wanted to go there on my backpacking trip, but didn't have enough time to visit all the places I wanted.
Great tips. Someone who is so sensible with how much you take. Some packing vids I see, half the contents is makeup. Argh

Thank you! I didn't take any make up with me. hehehe But indeed some sacrifices should be made to travel really light. I would say the freedom it gives is very well worthy though.

Hi Rodrigo, what about the shoes? Did you wear only one pair?
@Nossaki
Жыл бұрын
Sorry, saw your message just now. Yeah, just one pair of shoes.
You can put money and credit card, i have none...
I wear a size 15 shoe. I need a bag just for my foot wear.
With 7 outfits you don't need for everyday laundry...for me laundry everyday is work not vacation
No umbrella? Khaki pants? Backup shoes?

I took none of these for the 5 weeks trip and was fine. Thinking about it now, those were also not needed on my trip. When it rained, I waited on a coffee shop or station. Of course it's a trade off, you can't be fully prepared to every single situation and travel light.
I like your bag whats the name of backpack
