Frontside slash still confounds me: I set it up, focus and that coping fear inexplicably kicks in and I sort of deadpump and miss it. When the intention is: 100% Jay Adams 1978 full agro.

As a skateboarding KZreadr that has over thirty thousand subscribers that only makes shorts I think u deserve more support than me also I find an axle stall easier than frontside kick turns

I actually learned tail stall before drop in. If you can find a ramp mellow enough you can tap the tail in the ramp on the way up. Go higher and higher till your tapping on the coping. From there focus on putting your weight all the way up on the deck. By the time I got that I had done the drop in maneuver a couple hundred times so going for it wasn't so bad.

to me there's a twilight zone and it's somewhere between standing up on ramp and then being down IN ramp. Get over it and drop ins become fun, but you have to enter this zone in reverse to get 'up' into tailstall.

I'm still terrified trying to to tail stall. Fakie pop and fakie rock seems more comfortable. Drop in also feels a million times easier than tail stall. Just bodied a few times, and continue to drop in higher. Though, in still scare to drop in anything taller than 6 feet.

49 year old beginner skater her. Front side anything feels sketchy to me. Learned Axle way sooner then fs Slash grind.... Which I still can't commit. Axel stall drop in at least you can spot where you are going to bodied, lol, where fs tricks seems like one of those " trust" relationship workshop thing where you just fall backwards and hoping your significant other will catch you. That and tall stall. Can't get the timing right, and now I just lean towards fakie pop, or fakie rock. Great video.

It just goes to show how different people are wired differently: fakie tailstalls were the first transition trick I learnt; they just made sense to me. Conversely, I'm never going anywhere near backside slashes - not when you can't see the things 😬

Thanks for the video. 2 weeks ago, I started to learn to skate at 37 and I’ve been checking your channel out. I’m currently trying to learn to kick turn on the mini ramp. Did my first one today. What was your rate of progression from starting to kick turn to starting to slash grind? Also thanks for being an inspiration for us older learners. Never too late to start learning new skills.

Dear Jon, thanks for the great progession video. For me starting now with 48years - this is very inspiring. How long did it take you for those ten steps? I would be especially interested how long it took you until the Tail Stall ?

Hey dude, great to hear you are on it! It took me a good while, I would rate my natural ability as distinctively average. My main skate Park was big transitions with a roll in. So I couldn’t safely learn lip tricks and there was no need to learn the drop in? I built a bespoke mini ramp to learn on. So once I put my mind to learn ing these 10, it was a matter of months, but I had been riding over a year which probably helped?
