Even easier on my 2002 r53. No light in door, no sliding handrest. That speaker adapter is KEY! I soldered up my own wire adapter.

@@HufflerGarage great! I think my back speakers are good for now but I know I will up grade those eventually. I did order all the items form this vid so I’m excited for that. They are supposed to arrive this week some time.

I wish you showed how to remove the door panel or old speaker. My left front is blown out.

Could you tell me the make of speakers you used for upgrade and where you got them from with the adapters

Great Video. Thank you for skipping the mundane and sticking to the tricky points. One question. Why Crutchfield and not, sayyyy... Bavsound upgrade that has a reengineered OEM part. Nothing against Crutchfield. In fact, I installed Crutchfield's rearview mirror 7.3" backup camera in our, oddly enough, 2015 red convertible. Great Product.

I ordered from Crutchfield because they included the wiring harness adapters for free. The pair of MTX speakers was only $40 and the speaker mount adapter plates were $10 from Amazon. The rear speakers will cost about the same when I get around to doing them. Sounds pretty good for $100 vs $500 for the Bavsound. I usually ride without the radio on anyways so I can hear the Supercharger whine and the exhaust crackle :)

Hello. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper that needs the speaker replacement also and want to ask you if the speaker size you recommend (6.5 inch) is the same for the non- cabrio models? When I look up the size on the internet it says 5.25 inch. Thx to clarify. I am in Europe so will have to find the parts from a supplier here (any thoughts?). Thank for your help and excellent video!

I think I just cut my OG speakers out of their housing and re used them last time. I have a different mini now, one with the HK system and I am about to replace that. The speakers are 2 ohm as well so they will have to be replaced. A real pain!

That is what I saw other people doing, but when I saw the adapters for cheap on Amazon, I figured why not. The regular Boost system sounds like garbage, but at least it is easier to upgrade. Good luck with the HK!

Wait what about the little top speakers? Mine has started to squeak

It was the 6 inch factory speaker.

Did you need to re drill for the screws that attach it?

Not with the adapter plate I used. It just screws right back into the factory holes.

What size speaker did you install?

The HK system is a different beast. I'm pretty sure these are not for the non-HK system.

Is that the standard non HK system.
