Damn dude that’s rough. Got me tearing up on a horse story:) My brother-in-law (62) lost his wife of 30 yrs to cancer last year and was pretty torn up for a while. After about a year of grieving he decided he could no longer be alone and knew my sister-in-law wanted him to go on and live the rest of his life to the fullest. He started trying to meet women on several dating services and after many months of not finding the right fit he met a wonderful woman and they’ve fallen in love and are making plans to move in together. He still keeps his wife’s picture on his living room wall and speaks of her often. It WILL get better with time and I’m sure your wife would’ve wanted the same for you. Life’s a short journey so good luck living the rest of yours.

I felt like crying when you described him running his little heart out, trying to get the attention of the others. I remember feeling like that as a little boy. I felt his innocent pain. damn right. very well put. i can't work at an animal rescue for this reason. I identify with the animals too much. Tried a couple of times... My g/f volunteers. I just write a check and say a prayer for them.

i wish people stopped treating horses like walking cars. Im ok with horse riding but as long as it doesnt tire out the horse (im talking about tourist horses) and the life conditions are good. But most of the time this is not the case :(

Though of course it was good to have the baby make friends, knowing Eleanor had been abused and over-bred, she probably had a lot of babies taken away from her! No wonder she was going to try and keep this baby so protected! The people seem kind and thoughtful. I just wish this video told us more of happy baby AND a happy mama, Eleanor!

@@JW-vd4il Since they got her an auction, it is possible that they really didn't have a lot of background information on Eleanor. Often if horses aren't sold at auctions they are slaughtered. It's sad that there are thousands of horses in the U.S. sent to be slaughtered when they could live out the rest of their lives on a farm.

We had a 28 yr old mare we rescued when I was a teen. Bones poked thru her skin and she had no teeth. She couldn't graze or eat hay. She could barely get up if she went down. She wanted to be around our horses but they were too rough. Old Lady got better as we fed warm, wet mash and soaked hay several times a day. One morning as I did chores we had an extra horse in the barn! He was our neighbor's 32 yr old stallion, a total softy. Called the neighbor and they walked Old Boy home and he nickered all the way home. A month later Old Boy passed and was buried with all his tack. A good send off. The next year, Old Lady was still delicate but her skin and coat were shiny and she was a little more filled out. You guessed it!! She was Old Boy's last fling. Lady foaled in a sleet storm. The colt was weak and fell into a ditch. His Momma made so much noise we were able to rescue her son. Amazingly she actually had colostrum for him. No other horses could get close to her box stall at all. She passed when he was 3 weeks old and we bottle fed him. Sometimes no one "let's" a mare get bred. Sometimes it is just fate and a last fling kind of thing. Two happy geriatric horses made one tough little colt who lived a full, busy life and he passed at 26. I am still amazed.

Thank you for rescuing Mama, why in the heck would anyone breed her at that age. I'd think it'd be very dangerous for the Mama and of course could add even more issues than dwarfs already deal with. BUT, all is well in this case and so wonderful to see!! Little Teddy looks like he is chock FULL of personality and enjoys every minute of his life, it was so sweet how protective Eleanor was even though Teddy ( perfect name for him!) was ostracized for a while. He looks like he's making up for lost time! And I have what is probably an ignorant question but here goes- is it true there are no true dwarf horses, that they were bred to be smaller and smaller ( though I don't understand how to breed them to be SMALLER) simply for money, like " designer" dogs? They have such a multitude of health issues, thus the reason for my question. Thank you!

I cannot believe how tiny he is! I almost don’t believe that he is real, he is just so tiny! And what a good mom, at 20 she still had it in her bless her heart.

But your statement is intemperate, ridiculous in fact. By what authority do you speak, and what is the source of your information? Or is that a secret which you cannot reveal? Do you realize that your hypothesis is untestable? Can't you enjoy watching a cute horse, without erupting into an extremist rant? Well, you practically invited an essay in response, but I'll spare you most of that. Let's start by looking at human nature and seeing it for what it is. But this DOES NOT support your contention at all. Presently Creation is AWAITING REDEMPTION. We have yet to see the day when the lion will lie down with the lamb, and will not turn on it to DEVOUR it. Nature is riddled with the effects of SIN, which brought DEATH with it. You seem to have equal regard for ALL animals. Would it please you if your home or apartment were overrun continuously by mice, rats, cockroaches, and other vermin? Are you prepared to COEXIST PEACEFULLY with them? Or would you call the exterminator? Would you buy some traps and perhaps some poison? Would you employ a few cats in self-defense? Are you on board with the idea of tigers, crocodiles, and other violent beasts lunching on human flesh and bone? These beasts used to present TERRIBLE problems in certain parts of the globe. Let's be reasonable!!

Teddy is the cutest little horse! I can’t believe how small he is. Too precious. 🥰

At my first job, a task that got dumped on us was cleaning up for the boss's animals (A lot of work for just two people to manage alone, so it's understandable). A horse, donkey, and miniature horse. The horse was stubborn but friendly. The miniature horse was a spoiled brat that tried to bite you if you didn't lead him to the patty fast enough. The donkey, strangely enough, was the most docile and gentle of them all. Everyone warned me to always use the chain lead and make sure the chain runs under his chin when attaching to his face harness. This would rub against his chin if he decided to pull. I could tell right away that he didn't like it at all. Seeing how he was always calm and walked beside me, I ditched that chain and just held the ring of his harness with the tip of my finger. He never pulled, never tried to get ahead of me, nor did he ever put the brakes on when walking. He knew where we were going and it's exactly where he wanted to go. Who would have thought that between the three, the donkey would be the sweetest of the bunch? Even years after I moved on from that job, I swung by to visit and the donkey (Eeyore) instantly recognized me and rushed over to see me.

I don’t find that strange at all! I used to help out at a lovely hobby farm that a family friend has. Just a little farm, self-sufficient, gardens, happy animals with occasional rescues. I became friends with 1) the goats, who were absolutely adorable and loved to play and 2) Petunia, the donkey. I was told she didn’t really like people so it wasn’t worth going by her. But teenage me saw her munching under a tree and thought “I need to pet her.” After making sure she wasn’t aggressive, I walked up to her and just started petting her. Sweetest grump in the world! I got her food, and she just waited patiently instead of making a fit like usual. Donkeys get a bad rep, but they’re actually very smart, sweet and hardworking animals, as you saw. 😊 I looove horses, but thanks to Petunia, donkeys will always have a spot in my heart, right next to goats. That hobby farm had a big impact on me.

@@j_g9109 If you get a chance go to Oatman, Arizona. It's really an old wild west town complete with gunfights on a regularly scheduled basis and main street is Route 66. But it's most famous citizens are the wild donkeys that roam the streets.
