Mini Dutch Style Aquascape from Plant Scraps & Cuttings

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I really love Dutch style aquariums and I really missed having one! The problem is I am on a budget and, being summer, there aren't many plants available in my local stores. So I made this our of scrap old plants and cuttings, some plants are not the healthiest, but they will have to do!

I know right… So modest.. When it comes to animals plants, she is beyond creative and will solve it with little to no effort, instinctively and with ease. This is design all the same and a much more complex skill to have and be good at than putting some bedazzling on a flower pot. o_-. Of course it’s obviously fueled by love and understanding Me I would get all OCD and question my choices. When something comes naturally, it’s often assumed by the individual that they don’t have an eye or a knack for it but everyone else knows what’s really going on here. Haha

IF you wan to try something that looks great in a Dutch tank, try Rummynose Rasboras, the red noses with the blue bodies are great and they pair well with a set of Killi fish, male and female. I actually us this combo and its great, even have 9chili rasboras as well.

Hi Danny, will you please make a video on aquarium plants and how to keep them healthy?

Kill fish are sweet but I struggle with them in terms of health and sudden death. Recently I have enjoyed the old fashion neon and cardinal tetras.

I don’t know about aquariums but I do like fish and I used to keep care of some goby’s Have you ever considered trying one or two of them?? I think they’re a nice mix with tiny schooling fish and they Stiphodon ornatus has some red orange and bits of teal sometimes and are quite pretty plus have a neat temperament. They also eat a tiny bit of the algae. They won’t need a bunch and they don’t exactly fall into algae eaters but they have that added benefit. Also I think an excellent choice would be the Endlers livebearer guppies. Like fancy guppies which I know is basic but they’re different and cuter somehow!! They seem to be really easy peaceful and cute fish. Plus they have lots of color in the red and blues and blacks! Easy fish I don’t know much about killifish but I think your net idea is a good one. Also if you don’t have too much else I think that one or two Apistograma?? Or the dwarf cichlid fish but I just remember from the pet store that they aren’t at all aggressive like other cichlid fish and they’re quite stunning, they tend to be at the bottom near the soil or lower part of the tank and they docile enough to be with other fishies. Probably not much help but I love your orchid channel and can’t help looking at your pretty aquarium scapes: I worked in a pet shop when I was younger and used to love eating lunch and looking at the fish downstairs while I did so. -L

Hardscape or not, "dark start" is a sure fire way for an (almost) algae-free tank. Heartily recommended. 👍 The filter looks like a Superfish one; I have one that looks like that. Strangely, mine lets off a constant "hum", so it's not silent. 😅 The tank is looking excellent. Well done.

Hi, we don’t have that brand in my country, but it might be a white label thing. It’s a Resun or a Sun Sun or.. a sun ending one 🤭

😄Well, it's certainly a cheap filter, so it's bound to be sold under many different names.

In my latest scape i chose crystal red shrimps, a couple of endlers ‘colorado silver’ and a group of otocinclus. Its nice to have some aquatic life and dynamic in the tank that doesnt flee every time someone passes the tank.😊 I had a noisy hangontheback filter as well and fixed this by cutting a small piece of a 6mm co2 hose and putting in on the impeller. Removed vibrations and noise is gone. What about Rotala Bonsai in the left corner of your tank? I love that plant. Nice video, thanks for sharing! Greetings from Norway 😇

Cheers from my fish room channel in Chicago, where I am a happy subscriber to yours :) a beautiful and easy fast grower for that corner could be limnophila sessiliflora? Also, how about Clown killifish. you could have 6 or more. yes they can jump but my experience not nearly as prone to as larger killifish. And they are so darn beautiful!

Lovely looking aquarium, I've tried Dutch a couple of times but never stay disciplined with it and put trimmings everywhere 😂. I'm a bit obsessed with chocolate gouramis at the moment, always liked the look of them from pictures online, but saw them in the flesh (so to speak) at my local fish shop recently, really want them now!

Hello Danny , I was just watching a shop owner setting up an OASE canister and he believes that a lot of the micro bubbles are caused from not heating up the 4 ends of the inflow and outflow tubing . He actually recommended bringing a large pot to around 190 * or 87*Celsius . That would take away the tension and make it easier to set up and wearing gloves is recommended for obvious reasons. Hopefully you have not done this before because it does make sense that after reconnecting with softer warm tubes once they cool they should form a seal .

Hi, well that’s an interesting theory, I just wonder why this doesn’t happen with other filters, it’s just a rubber tube 🤔 anyway I used a CO2 reactor and that dissolved everything so all good 😊 the bad part was the very loud motor 😬

Good morning! I'm doing a dark start right now for the first time, and just purchased a pair redstriped killifish and a pair of fundulopanchax amieti. Both are gorgeous fish. I haven't had them long, but I recommend them. I have a well planted tank and the redstriped killifish are still kind of shy. I can't wait to see what you decide. *I forgot to add that I have a UNS tank and lid. The lid leaves above a 2 inch gap so I have floating plants and leave the water level about 3 inches below the rim. So far I have had no issues with jumping.

They’re so adorable, and I didn’t know she had some but she showed a clip on a video I just watched and omg whatever type they are, precious. Rescues as well and reminded me of you and your pretty girls.
