Mini Doc: Gore Vidal's History of the National Security State

When Julian Assange was arrested, he was holding up a copy of Paul Jay’s book, "Gore Vidal’s History of the National Security State.” This mini-documentary is the original 2005 interview with Vidal, upon which the book is based. We are republishing on the occasion of the release of Julian Assange after five years in prison.

Outstanding editing and impact. More like this please using Mr Vidal's analysis and video. Summarizing his books would be appropriate also. Historians like him are supposed to go down the memory hole forever. We the Good people remaining, cannot let that happen!! OR ELSE!!

After he retired & moved to Europe, with his partner he was quoted as saying, during an interview "when i want too know what the US is up to, i need only look into my own black heart" - Gore Vidal.

Before TV ads, the big newspapers cut the news to fit between the large corporate ads. The news was also edited to suit those advertisers.

Go look up Robert McChesney, who Paul Jay has interviewed and should interview again. He's a professor from my Alma Mater (U. Illinois) but I never had him as a teacher because he went there after I graduated. His specialty was the study of media and how is works and how its changed NOT media studies which is learning how to operate in the media. He was a major contributor to the 2004 Documentary "Outfoxed; Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism" In 2015 he gave a lecture titled "Digital Disconnect: The Internet and Democracy" Its here on YT posted by PBS Wisconsin. He points out that facts no longer have a place in the economics of the media. *THAT WAS IN 2015*
