I've had the Ninja Prep for 8 YEARS. It kicks ass! I use it everyday and not one single part or function has failed or even slowed down. With this basic model, you can eliminate the need for a blender, mixer, food processor, mini-chop, juicer, Nutri-bullet, blah blah blah. I tossed them all (including my Cuisinart, the same one shown in this video) and I regained tons of storage space! I keep my Ninja on the countertop where my red KA stand mixer USED TO BE. To be honest I didn't toss that one, I take it out at holidays because I do a lot of baking and I still need my Ninja for daily cooking tasks. As info, I was gifted a Ninja Kitchen System 1100 a few years ago and it's still in the original box. I have no doubt it would be an asset in the kitchen (power base on bottom, more like a traditional blender), but honestly I don't have a need for an upgrade. The 8-year old pulsing POD style that I use daily does everything and I do mean EVERYTHING, and the footprint is small which I prefer that. Not to mention it's ridiculously easy to clean. Whatever Ninja you end up with, it will exceed your expectations. I absolutely swear by Ninja, I have the multi-cooker (slow cooker) as well as Shark Ninja vac (which means my overpriced Dyson pretty much stays in the closet now) and I couldn't be happier with all my Ninja products. To be clear, this is not a paid endorsement, I just love the brand and want to share my experience.

I agree. I use the Masterprep commercially, blew 2 or 3 in 8 years. Got always 1 boxed as a spare, once on sale best bang for the buck, but cleaning of the motor kinda sucks. Got also 5 of the Ninja 4 in 1 slowcooker, best of all. 😉

Thanks, Amy! That was great. We have had the Kitchenaid Mini food processor for several years and got it for much less than $50 thru QVC. It's been a little workhorse for us and is great for making mayonnaise and salsa. Have had no issues with the "pegs". But we do treat it with kindness as we do with all of our kitchen appliances. Good to know that we have the winner. Love your videos.

Thank you Amy Learns To Cook for taking the time to review, comment and compare these products. Very thorough and very much appreciated. I'm a Cuisinart girl (but open minded to other options) and just ordered my Cuisinart mini-chopper but if that does not work out, I"m going to return it and buy the Kitchen Aid one. You are awesome!!! Bet you don't get tired of hearing that. Thank you again for your great videos.

I have the Kitchen Aid 3.5 Cup and just got the 5 Cup. I love both and I think one of the nicest features of the Kitchen Aid is the way you can wind the cord around the bottom to contain it and it's not loose when it's not being used.

You almost always have to open up food processors and use a spatula to push down particles off the sides for it to process everything. I agree that the parsley got caught in the lid of Ninja. As for the dressing, I'll bet the Ninja would have emulsified it all just fine without adding the vinegar in parts--it's not like mayonnaise. The mustard would have been enough. My Ninja chopper came as a set with the larger pitcher which would allow drizzling through the pour spout.

Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, there's really no wrong way (pulse or hold button down), unless you do it too much and make soup (when you're not trying to make soup). The thing Amy was showing and explained is that each chopper is different. The Ninja had four blades and only needed a little chopping to get the job done, where the others only had two blades and needed more time. These tests were designed to test the machines. Everyone's results will be different based on what they are chopping and how much chopping they want to do.

Wow...lucky you...our Walmart doesn't carry it in store anymore...when they did it was $19.00 & up from there. I have 4 of this model(I lost tops...I had all others in this review & use it all the time. Now I realize that some coffee can tops can be substituted & hole cut...live & learn.. * Oh...things like parsley do not work as wonderfully as Amy shows......but testing with portions helps. I have never ever had problem with the Nina... used sometimes 3x day for mom in Hospice...had to puree all steamed veggies.. Super good feeling knowing the nutrition available with its use. :) Great gift to give !

On some things-like the onions-I don't always want it to be chopped so small/fine. In fact, it would be nice to find one that actually 'chops' when you want it to, and pulverizes when you want it to, but uniformity would be nice no matter what you are chopping

  • @EricLearnstoCook

The cuisinart blades rotating in different directions is actually really clever. If you look at spice and coffee grinders the blades are typically blunt because coffee and spices don't need a sharp blade. In fact, they would dull a sharp blade a lot faster than softer ingredients like vegetables. Essentially it is more efficient at both tasks over a long period of time because the sharp side of the blade doesn't come into unnecessary contact with ingredients that would dull it. If you really need a dual purpose grinder/chopper and you're on a tight budget it's probably a good way to go. Personally, I'll probably be getting the 5 cup version of the Ktchenaid since it has the drizzle basin and comes with a whisking attachment as well as the chopping blade. Basically it gives the option of mixing things without breaking down ingredients that you might want to keep for texture reasons. Thank you so much for this video! It was extremely helpful.

On the Cuisinart, the reason for the blade reversing is the sharp side (chop) is for herbs and soft vegetables and the reverse (grind) uses the duller side of the blade is for nuts and harder items. It does this to extend the blade life.

Just wanted to let you know that, thanks to you, I now have the perfect chopper for me - the Ninja Express. I have been looking for a chopper/blender, something, that makes hummus without having to constantly open up the container to push the ingredients back into the middle. The Ninja handles it and frozen fruits into a sorbet quickly and with no fuss. It goes together so easily. The only issue is that the top needs to be held as it does not lock as I discovered when I started it and the top started to spin off. Thank you!

I wonder if the Ninja express blade fits any other chopper brand . I like how the Ninja chops nuts and dry foods but I prefer a glass bowl.

  • @JusticeGirl
    @JusticeGirl2 ай бұрын

FYI...The Cuisinart blade DOES lock down into the bowl, you just have to press it down until it locks. Also, the difference between Chop and Grind is important. Chop is for soft things like garlic and herbs and rotates so the sharp side of the blade hits the contents in the bowl. The Grind function is for harder things like nuts and seeds. The blade rotates in the reverse direction so the back of the blade (the thick, dull side) hits the contents. This prevents the sharp side of the blade from being dulled.

Well, I just purchased the Cuisinart mini at a garage sale, brand new, never used and in still its box, for $3.99! So, I purchased it - that's why I am watching this video. After watching this, I feel much better about my purchase. OK, I get that it wasn't the best of this group, but it was not deemed a piece of crap either! Either way, I don't think that I can go wrong with spending $4 on a chopper. I own a lot of kitchen gadgets and tools so this will be just one more thing that I can utilize. I mostly purchased it because when compared to my bigger processors, this thing is small enough to fit on my counter and as any real cook will tell you, counter space is a very important ingredient too! I look forward to using my brand new bargain chopper real soon! By the way, I loved your video! You are extremely hilarious!! BIG Thumbs up.....But not for the Big O! HAHA!!

I can't live without a mini chopper, I used the heck out of the Cuisinart for several years. Thanks as always for your help testing out these gadgets.

Any gasket will trap moisture and become a mold trap, this being removable is important so you can clean and thoroughly dry between uses

I’ve had my little Cuisinart for years. It’s reliable and very efficient. Just got a new blade and it’s even better. Oh, and I finally had to replace my 40 year old Cuisinart food processor, only because the lid was obsolete. Don’t think I’ll change brands.

I got the Ninja for $11 at bargain hunt. I have ninja machines and really don't need this however i couldn't resist the price. When I got home I chopped garlic, onions, cabbage, carrots and fruits. Amazing little machine

Ninja is far less trouble to put together, use and much easier to clean than the other ones...and when you close the little lid you can even store your food in it. I'm actually a big Kitchen Aid girl but having both the traditional mini chopper and the little Ninja....I much prefer the Ninja. Not to mention it is also one of the cheapest.

We bought a mini Kitchenaid food processor since the blade locks in place and the handle isn't a pain to clean like a Hamilton is based on reviews. Can't wait to try it! Surprising that these mini's are the same price as their bigger counterparts right now. Considered a big one but don't have the space.

That was awesome Amy, I had to watch all the way though, to see which one was the winner, cause I was holding up my Kitchen Aid, which I got for myself a month ago, and not knowing which to buy, and that’s what it was, that picked, 🙏🏼 thank you 😊 so much

I have the older version of the KitchenAid mini chopper, and it has never let me down. Very faithful, and it does everything I would expect. I see what appears to be a Cuisinart Elemental 13 food processor in the background on your counter, Amy. Are you gonna review it?

I wish you would've tested the "Black & Decker." I had my Black & Decker mini-chopper for more than 20yrs and when I finally decided to get me a new one, mind you the Black & Decker was still working fine, I opted for the Ninja and just this week, this is the reason why I'm watching this video, it gave up on me. The Ninja I would say lasted for about 5yrs. I think I'm going back to Black & Decker. And Yes, I do use my chopper regularly. Thanks for testing these out for us.

Apparently, being PBA free isn't as safe as we once thought. 😬 I used to love my mini ninja because it was small enough to keep on the counter for quick small jobs, and it did a great job. Had to give it up because it wasn't PBA+ free. Thank you.

Cuisinart goes in opposite directions for grinding hard stuff or chopping. The back edge of the blade has a little knife edge for when running backward for peppercorns or other spices. I also have the kitchenaid. To be honest I have too many choppers and processors lol. Running total us the custom 14, the prep 11 plus, the DLC-2A mini prep plus and the DLC-1SS mini prep as well as the kitchenaid in this video. All get used and each has their plusses and minuses. I have found it harder to locate spare blades and parts for the KitchenAid. Cuisinart I've been able to locate bowls, lids, blades, etc. So I have spare S blades for all but the KitchenAid. Just an FYI if you want more discs for your cuisinart custom 14, go to ebay and look up the "DLC-7" blade set from the 80s/90s. They sell sets for dlc-7 and dlc8/dlc-10 (7 and 11 cup) that include all the rest of the discs that were available back then (more than now) that weren't included with your processor. And they were made in japan back then. But no sets include the cheese grater blade. You'll have to get that one separate. Personally I use the shredder blade then run with S blade and works fine for hard cheeses if you don't want the grater blade.
