The water heater alone is probably drawing close to 3000 watts on the 110V side but your inverter setup adds additional load to the 12V circuit pushing your battery wattage much higher. I also just bought this same heater and tried running it on regular 110V utility power and it is definitely an energy hog and needs a 30A circuit to run without blowing any breakers.

Yep, that was my conclusion as well. I decided to just switch to a propane one

Need a smaller heater with about 2L flowrate. I also turn mine on just to wet down, shut down, soap down, then back on tho rinse. In your colder country, you may need to raise the tank temp first (is it insulated?) before taking the shower. I'm using a 1500W stock pail heater in a trash can then using a camp shower 12v pump and kitchen sink sprayer. Works great! Good luck and don't give up.

I ended up just buying a propane on demand heater... Worked much better for our purposes as we wanted to take a propane fire pit anyway

Maybe can be used with 30amp shore power hook up. Also thicker wire perhaps....? A portable generator might serve re shore power if in remote no-powrr area.Need a strong one though.

3000W is just under 28 amps, hence why you need a 30 amp breaker. What’s weird with these mini heaters is they come with a 3’ 14 awg power cord.

Yes we had similar experiences but that's what happens when you're using direct energy dc try taking the measurements while using ac and see if you see a difference

I tried direct to AC, It does work, but just not enough. The heat it generated is just not sufficient for a nice shower. Maybe if it was circulated back into a tank. But it's just too much energy draw to make it a reasonable portable solution.

Would this work if I only use it at a camp grounds with full hook ups on there 110 electric? This way I,m not using my LP gas to heat my water. I have a small camper with LP gas water heater.

It draws 30 amps while in use. So you would need a 30 amp service. Plus you have to run the water quite slow to get it hot. I'd say give it a shot, make sure you buy it on Amazon so it's easy to return if you don't like it. I returned mine lol

I also ordered something similar and might be returning it. Granted in my situation it would be to wash dishes at the house, but for 20 bucks more I could get a small under the sink tank that draws under 1000w, I’m getting into the battery back up power stuff, and even though I don’t even have a system yet, and could make use of the instant heat, the fact that it will not be worth conditioning my eventual system’s inverter capacity is already a pass for me, maybe I am being silly, it just seems like a waste of output that could be mitigated with a little patience. If inverter size has a role in idle power consumption, a device like this doesn’t seem worth it to me….

If it could heat a nice steady useful steam... Maybe. But it couldn't really do that. So a tank is a better bet.

@@edsgarage001 yeah I might at least try to hook it up today, ever since I got interested in portable power stations inverter size has always played an important role in choosing, this would require something ridiculous! I think I might settle for a usb powered faucet and a 500w bucket heater 😂

that's an inductive load you need an inverter 3 times what it's rated to operate efficiently it's even in the specs for your inverter before you buy it.

Fair enough, but I ended up testing it via a 30amp circuit in my house as well, and confirmed that it just doesn't heat water up fast enough anyway.

​@@edsgarage001 sure. First, your saying "is supposed to bump it by X degrees" is meaningless. The increase in liquid temperature is proportional to power devided by flow rate. The power is constant and well known (3kW), but the flow rate is variable and can be anything the user sets it to. Even with 100TERAWATT atomic power station you can supply enough water flow so that it would not be "bumped" by even 1 degree. So, any "supposed to heat by X degree" is marketing bullcrap. Hence my second thought: if you need some minimal amount of degrees for your water to heat up to, take the calculator, put supplied power and desired temperature into the formula and you will get your flow rate, at which your temp increase will be achieved.
