A few additional methods that I can remember: -On Bedrock edition for a brief time you could delete bedrock and any other block by trying to place powder snow in a cauldron already filled with powder snow, which would replace the block above with powder snow (this was not too useful as it could only break blocks above so it would only really work for the nether roof, but it's bedrock edition so you can't even build there) -For a few Java 1.17 snapshots you could delete any block by bonemealing a big dripleaf, as it would replace the blocks above with dripleaf -various structures have been able to generate over bedrock, such as ruined portals, igloos, mineshafts, and geodes.

Lemme add a few On bedrock, you’ve been able to obtain it for years by literally mining it. If you go to an end fountain, replace all the portals with end crystals, break one of the bedrock blocks using some of the mentioned bedrock breaking methods, then replacing it with the snow from snow golems repeatedly while mining it with a silk touch pickaxe, you can occasionally trick the game into thinking you’ve broken the snow but instead breaking the bedrock and getting the item You used to be able to break it by by stacking a ton of snow layers on a piston with a button on it, then extending the piston. This would form a tower of snow that could replace the bedrock You can break bedrock downwards by growing a dark oak tree with a 2x10x2 pillar of dirt on top of it right at bedrock layer. You can break bedrock in the end using end crystals You used to be able to break bedrock by placing a sign on top of another sign, or a slab, much like the seed trick in the video I can’t think of any more at the moment

@Tech Priestess Micaela I think you've just described the sound barrier- not the solidity of air, but when you move very very quickly, the air bunches up and doesn't have time to move out of the way, creating the sonic boom. Inasfar as you can break something that isn't really "together" in the first place, I'd argue that's close enough.

One of the patches to the game gave the cobblestone properties of bedrock though and I've yet to open it back up

The fact that the upcoming update alters blocks above -1 Y coordinate in old chunks really makes the bedrock breaking official, since it's mentioned that Bedrock will be replaced with deep slate and downgrading a 1.18 world would remove the blocks below 0 Y coordinate and Minecraft on itself doesn't have code to fill the minimum coordinate with bedrock...

On 2b2t (1.12.2) there was a glitch for a while that CAEC64 found where you could send a packet to start mining a regular block like stone, then on the last tick of the block breaking animation send a finished digging packet to get the server to delete the block, as well as an update digging packet to switch block position to a bedrock block. It would immediately pop. CAEC used this at nether spawn with scaffold+netherrack to send multiple bedrock breaking packets per second, destroying the roof. Sadly hausemaster patched it though and filled in the bedrock the same day :(

I recently needed to remove some bedrock and searched for an easy method working in 1.17.1 (the version our private server is on). I found the redstone lag method. It works similar to the blown up piston method but without needing tnt. It's really cheap only requiring 2 pistons, 1 redstone block, ~70 redstone wire, 1 lever. (not consumed) You place down the wire in a square, place a lever in the middle. Now place a piston over the badrock (facing a free direction) place 1 block above it, a redstone block ontop of that. Now place a block next to the piston. It should extend. Now use some clicking script to flick the lever extremely fast for a short time. The lever should continue to make noise after you stopped. Now break the block next to the piston and then the piston. Use a trapdoor or something to place a downwards facing piston in the place of the broken one. Now wait for the server to stop lagging. Warning!!!! Don't toggle the lever for to long. Otherwise the server will crash. Don't use on servers others are playing on or farms are running. Everything will lag during this method.

More exactly, they are loaded chunks, but not in the 5x5 chunk area of entity processing chunks.

No idea how it works anymore since it's in it's used state but I remember using one on a server somewhere between 1.10-1.14 I think it was 1.12 not sure. The world is in 1.12 so it worked at least until then. Maybe it works like the arrow tnt one? Would be interested in knowing more about it or the history behind it, if nothing else I think I might try to reverse engineer it. No idea where the design came from tho, don't think I designed it, I'm to small brain

Now, it will be: How to obtain mapmaking items like barriers, structure blocks, Light blocks, and command blocks in survival by overloading the games code and tricking the server into replacing a certain variable like a powered Redstone lamp or a charged respawn anchor with the desired block, such as a command block, or bedrock. Or, somehow getting things like placeable fire and liquids. Maybe a gravity block glitch will work, with a lag machine, some very specific code, and some item dupes.

Huh, xisumavoid once used a "block update suspension" device to dupe stuff on hermitcraft. Well actually that was a side effect, he created a 2x1 nether portal with diamond frame with it. But anyway, there are very few and hard to find tutorials about it's inner workings, not even the "technical minecraft" wiki had any info about it (I just checked for hope of a tutorial). Would be cool to have a video about it! Basically it is punch of powered rails being turned of at the same time so the game stops block updates. Idk

The lesson here is that if you have mechanics that generate blocks, _make sure you check in _*_ALL_*_ usecases that the block you're trying to replace isn't taken by a solid block._

They used some resource packs or something, but you might be able to duplicate the fake bedrock from Hermitcraft by drawing maps of the texture of bedrock and then putting the maps in frames on random blocks. It doesn't even involve real bedrock but is a funny aside in the history of bedrock. I wonder if Scicraft could automate the process of harvesting it. It would be insane to have it as a building block (maybe get a resource pack that gives it a nicer texture!). Of course, it's a pain if you place it wrong.

In minecraft bedrock edition there is a way involving redstone, end crystals, and snow layers that would allow you to mine and obtain bedrock, i got no idea if it still works but it was pretty cool and i think it worked in a simmilar way to the games nether portal block obtain glitch

Last I used it, the method still works in 1.18. I had to destroy it in my world to try and get invincible end crystals but I have it on a test world and it still seems to work. Curious as to why not many know about it since it’s literally an afk bedrock farm.

Paper Minecraft (the Scratch game) allows you to break bedrock by mining down and putting your cursor out of the Scratch project. You mine the single layer of bedrock before it is even processed, allowing you to enter the void which is walled by a bedrock texture and allows you to float upwards. The nether roof doesn't exist - the top layers have snow on them for some reason and going onto the top layer makes you move left and right slower as well as the area having a netherrack wall.
