No. Union Pacific and Southern pacific agreed to merge together to expand their railroad service area. Union Pacific then took control of SP's routes

It's a merged company with UP, still got a couple of units in SP colors every now and then.

Imagine the southern pacific #4449 double headed with Union Pacific Southern pacific Heritage unit #1996

It's a Yellowstone, not a "reverse cab forward" The 2-8-8-4 wheel arrangement was used by several other railroads like B&O and DM&IR, the cab forwards were essentially just a reversed Yellowstone, but to say that diminishes the complicated engineering involved and the long history of trial and error with the design. Also, not all Cab forwards were 4-8-8-2s, the originals were actually 2-6-6-2s with other arrangements tried before they finally settled on the 4-8-8-2 with the AC-4.

@@Sf_sholder first of all, don't tell me to shut up, secondly, that's just, completely wrong... Maybe the AC-9 wasn't officially called a "Yellowstone" but it DEFINITELY wasn't called a "reverse cab forward" ... Because the cab forward itself was already reversed.
