  Mini-Shinkansen does not mean smaller gauge. All Shinkansen in Japan are Standard Gauge (4ft 8.5 in.) Mini-Shinkansen refers to upgrading former Narrow gauge trackage into Standard for Shinkansen use and slower speeds exceeding no faster than 130 KM/H (80 MPH). Akita and Yamagata services are the Mini-Shinkansen. If the E5 and E6 were of different gauges, they would not be able to run together or with other E Series Shinkansen.

  E5 and H5 Shinkansen are identical in terms of overall appearance. The only major differences are that the H5 has an enhanced snow-plow for colder weather operations in Hokkaido , slower operation speed through the Hokkaido Undersea tunnel (Duel Gauge track), limited to 260 KM/HM, (though both are cable of 320 KM/H), a blue/ purple stripe along the side rather than the pink one, and the logo is that of Hokkaido on the H5.

Treat your locomotives with care and don’t run them to fast A lot of kids like to run trains fast when it will derail It will also not only damage the ascetic detail but will damage th e motor I completed two operation jobs with my u28c And it felt warm Once at nowhere’s yard One of their switchers was smoking I can clearly see it smoke So I said “ hey stop this one is smoking So they stopped it and took it to their workshop If I hadn’t told them it would have caught fire and destoryed one of their locomotives I though at the time “ how come they can’t see it “ I learned it from my RC cars Many times some cheap rc car manafacurers put in faulty Chips and compute ring which heats up and bursts into flames It burnt many peoples homes down and killed millions from it So don’t run it to fast and take care of it or you will be sorry

  Here my advice to beginners 1. DCC consisting isn’t easy A lot of people think that Oh dcc should be easy if it’s the same locomotive Well no It has to be the same brand for it to work I tried running my u28c and ac6000 both from southern pacific to run together at my model railroad club (Silicon Valley lines ) in San Jose They both didn’t run well together So I had to uncouple the lead locomotive and have my u28c #7155 drive the rest of the manifest train they were hauling the rest of the way

  I model ho scale I use a in person shop called the train shop In Santa Clara California They have G scale ho scale O scale and n scale The even have toy trains for little kids There is a massive glass box full of diesel and steam locomotives There was a ho scale f59 PH for $140 it was really cheap considering they are very popular and have expensive dcc sounds For steam locomotives the pricing depend on how much detail and working parts there are I’m up 4014 it’s $750 almost 800 because it’s a really popular locomotive It’s a 4 -8-8-4 steam locomotive with tons of detail That’s why they are so rare in the model train world I have been trying to get a steam locomotive for years but all I got were diesel locomotives from the southern pacific
