@@Boiled_Pizza i mean netherite does have a few lol. It can't be destroyed by lava so if you accidentally die in it they won't get destroyed and you can go retrieve them, and the armor also gives built in knock back resistance if i remember right which helps A TON in the ender dragon fight to tower up the pillars if the dragon tries hitting you off.

They probably will, in the next major update after 1.20 (1.21 or 1.22) will need to add at least one thing that you can upgrade into your armor My only idea that I have for what we have in the game rn is plates that you can craft to upgrade your armor, like a beeswax plate that makes your armor more resistant to projectiles and a netherite plate that makes every armor be at least part netherite (a bit more of protection and a bit of knock back reduction) In other words, enchantment 2

What if there's a smithing template found in the End City where you can FINALLY fuse a chest plate and an elytra together? I hope these smithing templates are further developed where each template serves a different unique purpose depending on the past/history of the place it was found in. It would DRASTICALLY improve the overall lore of the game!

I love the idea of the upgrade and trims being part of archeology! Idk what other type of upgrades they would add, but I did have an idea for another type of aesthetic addition to armor. It's something people asked for when the goat horns were announced. Horned Helmets! It wouldn't just be one though. There could be multiple Helmet templates for different horn shapes: Ram (curly horns), viking (despite viking horned helmets being a myth), ravager (modeled after the Ravager's horns), horseshoe (its the viking helmet but the horns point downward), Rhino (single horn on the helmet; could also be called unicorn), etc. These would be an amazing addition especially for customization. The armor trim could also add details to the horns like changing the color. Another idea I had was wings for boots as a reference to the Greek Hermes as he was depicted with winged sandals. Winged helmets also exist so it would be an option for helmets too. This would require a feather and just be aesthetic. Something like trims for weapons and tools would also be cool. On the topic of weapons, Mojang should add a weapon created with a goat horn and echo shards which does a sonic blast attack. Using the same helmet horn upgrades on this weapon could change its shape!

GOOD. Most players already have netherite within like 1 or 2 weeks. Its simply TOO easy to get for quote on quote "End Game" gear. It only takes maybe an hour or two to get a lot of ancient debris by TNT/Bed mining. With this update, it makes netherite actually a hard thing to get, that people actually have to work for. Instead of just having like a stack of beds, then coming out an hour with loads of debris and being good to go with making full netherite gear.

Exactly.. For me, before 1.19 update, I got little bored playing minecraft as u can play and collect different resources without exploring that much. The deep dark, warden and the ancient city bring some interest to the overworld for those who like adventures and something different to do from time to time as they're playing (raiding an ancient city for example). Now with this update exploring have more purpose. Plus, gearing up with full netherite is so easy as you can buy diamond armor n tool from villagers then spend couple hours mining for ancient debris. Not that interesting and time-consuming if you compare it to the idea that netherite armor n tools are the best compared to others.

The netherite upgrade needs a fix, and I propose that instead of netherrack being the thing you duplicate it with, it would be a netherite ingot. That way you aren’t just able to take a quick trip to the nether and mine out a few hundred blocks and duplicate it. Most players will have thousands of diamonds and with this change it will consume a netherite ingot which sets the player back to a good point which mojang wants.

Well practically smithing table mechanic’s is the fact it involves upgrading 🤓

  • @poyokid916
    @poyokid916 Жыл бұрын

thing is, the smithing table wouldnt be the first to have a "weird cousin", as the cartography table actually has 3 uses that all pertain to maps. one is expanding the size of a map using paper, one is locking a map so it doesnt change with a glass pane, and one is making two identical maps using an empty map. the smithing table has two uses pertaining to armor, one is upgrading the diamond armor to netherite using the upgrade item, and one is adding trims to armor using templates. cartography's weird cousin is the glass pane, as the empty map and paper are both the same shape, as they're both paper. but the glass pane is completely different in the fact of its shape, material, and its use, yet we are able to use the same table that paper uses and just slap the glass onto a map and the map specifically justs stops making progress. on a smithing table, we have all these templates to make cool designs on all out favorite armor, yet there is this weirdly shaped upgrade item that specifically upgrades diamond armor to netherite. so in my conclusion, i think that this feature for the smithing table makes complete sense, and i dont see anything wrong with the contrast upgrades have with templates like glass has with paper.

I would personally love it if this was a new way to enchant armor and tools. It would give a slower, but more precise method of upgrading equipment that serves as an alternative to the Enchanting Table. Where archeology and smithing allows you to customize weapons and armor the way you choose, enchanting would be more like the shotgun approach: enchanting yields more potent abilities, but it's randomized what you get. Archeology and smithing would be more fine-tuned, but slower to build up - stack templates onto a piece and it yields higher enchants, but uses more tangible resources. I'm curious to see where it goes!

The Armor trim feature is mildly annoying on long term survival worlds where some structures like the woodland mansion....my nearest unlooted one is 25000 blocks away (I use chunkbase) why would I A) travel that far just for a decoration I really like B) expand my already massive world file. If trims could be found through archeology and possibly fishing it would certainly sooth my frustration. Best ending is mojang makes them a very rare drop from associated mobs. Like how a wither skeleton drops its head, a hard difficulty raid could sometimes give mansion templates due to the presence of evokes vexes and vindicators.

Seems to me like there might be 2 kinds of trims: cosmetic and functional. The structure related trims are purely cosmetic. The netherite upgrade is functional. It’s conceivable that Mojang might want to add additional kinds of upgrades, but the problem with this is that they probably don’t have good ideas for what other kinds of functional upgrades they could add. Netherite itself isn’t even an upgrade technically, it’s an entirely new material tier above diamond. The reason why they gave the smithing table Netherite functionality is to accomplish a few things: 1. Make it so upgrading to netherite isn’t impossible (imagine if you needed 8 ingots for a chest plate) 2. Make diamond unskipable/not obsolete by being required to get to netherite. But now they’re stuck between a rock and a hard place because they decided to fundamentally change the way the smithing table works to accommodate armor trims. But in fundamentally changing the smithing table, they must also fundamentally change how upgrading to netherite works. They’re taking a positive spin on this by making netherite harder to obtain. But that doesn’t mean they’ll add a whole separate class of functional modifications to armor. What modifications could they possibly add that wouldn’t be power creep? Netherite itself is technically power creep and it took a lot of development to make it fit as well into the game as it does. They’d have to put that much thought into any new functional modifications they might add, which is why they probably aren’t coming in this update at least. Besides, this update is about story telling, which the cosmetics fit well with. Functional modifications don’t necessarily fit with that theme.

I don't care that these additions aren't too good (Except the armor trims, I'm glad that now all armor can be custom tailored to your own preference instead of just leather being able to be colored to your own liking.) But I am glad that Microsoft is now taking some good steps into their updates. Although I still personally would like to see some extra variation on the current wood types in the game {Not new wood, mind you, I mean like just different looks for planks, and maybe colorable planks of some wood types.} And also maybe a sawmill block so wood can be preserved like Stones can.

Consider this, netherite ingots are made from netherite scrap and gold ingots. So perhaps there may be different types of netherite eventually? One made from netherite scrap and emeralds for example. Perhaps the plan is to provide different types of netherite, that netherite is a category of armor upgrades. And perhaps in the future these would have different types of effects or tiers. An upgrade to standard armors if you will, perhaps obtaining your first tier of netherite is the start of your next adventure, the first adventure is the dragon, the next adventure is the home of the warden perhaps. A tier of "pro" armor could be neccesary for this new adventure. In it's current form, the netherite upgrade stands alone, but there's no reason in the future it couldn't be renamed to piglin armor upgrade or something, maybe the first tier of netherite is piglin armor, and next could be ender armor, wither armor, etc. This is more thoughts and ideas, but honestly, what if. They could go so many places with this.

Yeah and armor trims themselves seem... unfinished. I mean they are a good feature, but they could be a lot better. There is a video by Xiumavoid that explains it a lot better than I ever could. Add this to that, and I think you are right. Smithing table isn't the "trimming" mechanic, but the "armor modification" mechanic

What if the upgrade templates were all really good but you can only have one. So you specialize into one specific thing or just upgrade to netherite

netherite is more expensive now, but the trimming schematics are renewable so ling as you have diamonds so it's not that bad diamond tools and armor are renewable, but the ore itself is so far unrenewable so until then... we'll just have to see what's going to come.

The big problem with finding smithing templates by archaeology it would be really boring! This is what Mojang wanted to avoid by making the netherite upgrade, to make netherite more fun! Or any smithing template, for that matter!

The smithing armor thing is the definition of complicated. And people like Minecraft because it's simple.

If they kept the crafting for how you can just make more of the netherite templates then it's not to bad you only need to find 1.

I mean yeah, except you need 7 diamonds each time you craft a new one so it's like a stack of diamonds to make enough templates for a full set, PLUS the diamonds for the gear that you upgrade

To be fair, trims were added likely because smithing tables had only one purpose at one point in the game, rendering the block nearly pointless.
