Recommended 12 yrs later. Why, to make me feel old and think about how long ago it was when I was fooled by this very myth?

Thousands of kids tried to make the portal, but nome of them stopped to check the description and see that it was a mod. It will always be funny to me

I like how 70% of the people trying to build an aether portal back then knew it probably wont be real but still did it anyways lol. those were some good times

I remember when I was little I actually tried to do this in minecraft vanilla but it obviously didn´t work, so I got a little frustrated doing it over and over again and failing. My father noticed that I was struggling doing something infront of the PC for like 30 minutes so he started trying to help me by watching the video with me and repeating the steps himself. Again it didn´t worked out so I just got very sad and decided to surrender in my attempts. The next day, when I came back from school, my dad approached me very happy and told me that, while I was in school, he played the game and actually found a way of opening the portal. In that moment he told me something like "we had to make it in a limited time", so without thinking about it I got really excited and just started playing the mod with my father and we had such a good time. Years later, when we were talking about gaming anecdotes, my father told me that, when he saw that I was very sad because I couldn't make the portal, he actually started investigating and found out what is a mod and how to install them in the game, so he just downloaded it and then lied to me about it so it wouldn´t break my illussion. I still remember this fondly, I think is one of the coolest things my dad has ever made!

The funny thing is the fact this guy never intended to scam or gaslight an entire generation that the aether portal was in vanilla minecraft in the first place

​@@0q2628 I just remembered my MCPE world... where I used to switch between creative and multiplayer, and also installed Blocklauncher mods, like Portal Gun 2 and Turrets mod by Desno365 And also I remembered watching PC OreSpawn let's plays... Too bad my laptop doesn't support old Minecraft versions, and using my old laptop or pc is very difficult
